45:33 (Pilooski, Theo Parrish remixes)

45.33 (Pilooski remix)
45.33 (Theo Parrish Space Cadet remix)
Review: Having launched their White Out series of limited reissues with the excellent NDF 12", DFA turn to label figureheads LCD Soundsystem and the high profile remixes that followed their 45:33 release for Nike. The stone cold classic remix from Prince Language would have been the Juno choice for inclusion here, but you can't argue with DFA's decision to go with the reworks by two masters of the art in Theo Parrish and Pilooski. Still played on the regular by Benji B down at Deviation, Theo Parrish's self styled "Space Cadet" ten minute plus remix sounds as far out as it did back in 2009 and is a perfect example of the Sound Signature boss's talent for going places few others would consider - proper Sun Ra business! Complementing this, Cedric Pilooski does robot funk in a manner that compatriots Daft Punk have seemingly forgotten about completely.

I Can Change (album version)
I Can Change (Stereogamous remix)
I Can Change (Stereogamous Inlovestrumental dub)
Review: After the indie discoisms of "Drunk Girls", LCD Soundsystem have plucked the gorgeous "I Can Change" from their superlative third album for single duties. The gloriously 80s synth overtones of the original are left intact on the accompanying remix and dub version from Aussie duo Stereogamus.

Yr City Is A Sucker
Review: Anyone lucky enough to have caught James Murphy and his entourage of highly talented musical friends live will attest that it's here LCD Soundsystem truly excel. And whilst this London Sessions album recorded in the aftermath of such a performance at last year's Glastonbury does not replicate such an elation filling experience, the chance to hear some of the band's best tracks recorded live makes this worth investigating. It's basically a showcase for how tight a group of musicians Gavin Russom, Pat Mahoney and Nancy Whang are, most notably on "Get Innocuous" where Russom really goes to town on the synths and "Daft Punk Is Playing At My House" which gets embellished with a liberal dose of tightness tautness and spikiness. The band has such an all encompassing back catalogue that you could spend all day dissecting which tracks they should have included here, and it's a mark of the aforementioned tightness that even the somewhat risible "Drunk Girls" sounds markedly improved here.

Review: "45:33" was originally recorded by James Murphy (aka LCD Soundsystem) as a continuous album-length disco symphony. It is the result of Murphy's desire to create a piece of music outside the typical commercial constraints. Don't miss this DFA release.

Bye Bye Bayou (main version)
Bye Bye Bayou (acappella version)
Review: LCD Soundsystem's version of 'Bye Bye Bayou' stunningly re-introduces the world to this great band. The track is a cover of an Alan Vega song from his 1981 debut album, and will not feature on the forthcoming LCD album. Available now on DFA, 'Bye Bye Bayou' is 8+ minutes of classic LCD Soundsystem; deep soulful grooves that will appeal to fans and non-fans alike and will whet the appetite for all those dying for LCD's upcoming third album to be released in March 2010.
