Notes: The Behringer Pro-1 is a clone of the popular retro classic Sequential Circuits Pro-One which was once conceived to be a monophonic Prophet-5. Those who know and love recordings of Depeche Mode and Yazoo, will enjoy recognizing a lot of those sounds with the Pro-1.

The two assertive oscillators, each based on a CEM3340 chip, have sawtooth and square waveforms, an octave switch, fine tuning and pulse width control. Oscillator A can be synchronized to oscillator B, the second tone generator is additionally equipped with the triangle waveform and can be switched to low mode as well as decoupled from the pitch control. Both VCOs are brought together in the mixer, where the noise generator is also located, which can be replaced by an external signal. The beautiful basic sound is processed with a characterful 24dB lowpass filter, also known as Curtis VCF. It behaves similar to a Moog filter, but due to the IC CEM3320 it sounds different than the transistor cascade. The two crisp ADSR envelopes are assigned to the filter and VCA. An LFO with three waveforms is connected to the targets via the modulation bus. The special features of this instrument include the waveforms that can be activated simultaneously in both oscillators and in the LFO.

The modulations are assigned on the left side of the control panel. The filter envelope, oscillator B and the LFO, each with their own attenuator, are available in parallel as sources. These are assigned to the targets frequency oscillator A+B, pulse width oscillator A+B and cutoff directly or via the modulation wheel (or midi controller). Wild oscillator drifts, sync sounds, sirens, FM for filter and/or oscillator A as well as pulse width modulation are possible if used with care. If you turn everything up at once, it gets really wild! The modulation bus is the hottest feature of the Pro-1 next to the sound.

The ingeniously simple sequencer provides access to two patterns, each of which can be up to 40 steps long; pauses can also be programmed. The notes are played via a connected MIDI keyboard. After the input, the patterns can be transposed with the keyboard. The Arpeggiator primarily offers the playback modes Up and Up&Down, but can also be integrated into the pattern. Synchronization to other equipment is done via the analog clock input or MIDI/USB.

Notes: Inspired by the amazing Roland SH-101, Behringer's MS-1 is a peach of an analogue mono synth, excelling at deep, elastic basslines but also amazing for arps, leads and FX.

Supplier notes:
An ultra-affordable homage to that iconic synthesizer with all the features of the original and then some, such as a 32-step sequencer, arpeggiator and live performance kit, the MS-1-BK lets you conjure up virtually any sound with incredible finesse and ease. With its 32 semi-weighted full-size keys, pure analog signal path, authentic 3340 VCO with 4 simultaneously-mixable waveforms, plus extremely flexible VCF and VCA filters, the MS-1-BK is sure to become your favorite keyboard. Owning the MS-1-BK is like having your own personal time machine, enabling you to embrace the past - or make your imprint on the future!

Great care has been taken in engineering the MS-1-BK, including the true to the original analog circuitry, legendary VCO, VCF and VCA designs, all of which combine to make it easy to recreate the classic sound performance. This highly-focused attention to detail is what gives the MS-1-BK its ultra-flexible sound shaping capability, which covers everything from super-fat bass and lead tones to stunning effects - and all the way out to the otherworldly sounds of your imagination.

The inspired synthesizer tracks laid down in the 1980s and '90s are etched in the annals of progressive rock, wave, EDM and synth-pop music forever, making them truly classic in every sense of the word. The MS-1-BK lets you recreate all of that magic - or design incredibly fat and original sounds.

The very heart of MS-1-BK's sound is its highly-flexible Voltage Control Filter (VCF), which includes faders for: cutoff Frequency (10 Hz to 20 kHz); Resonance (0 to self-oscillation); Envelope and Modulation depth, and Keyboard follow (0 to 100%) to dial in the perfect sound. MS-1-BK's VCF can be modulated via the ADSR, keyboard tracking and Bender controller. The Frequency Modulation (FM) Amount knob sets the depth, while the FM Source selector lets you further modify the signal by choosing from: pulse; sawtooth; sub oscillator 1 octave down; 2 octaves down; narrow 2 octaves down, and Noise.

MS-1-BK's Envelope generator features 4 ADSR (Attack, Decay, Sustain and Release) faders that help you craft incredible sounds, and utilizes a 3-position switch for Gate, Gate + Trigger and LFO. When applied to the Voltage Control Amplifier (VCA), the ADSR envelope is used to control the level of the note being played over time. When applied to the VCF, the ADSR envelope is used to control the cut-off frequency of the filter for each note played over time. In addition, the ADSR envelope can also be used to affect the VCO pulse width modulation.

MS-1-BK's sequencer allows you to program up to 32 steps of notes and rests and save them as a pattern. You can record, save and recall up to 64 patterns, all of which can be stored in the 8 banks, each holding up to 8 patterns. Your sequences can be played either in Keyboard mode, where you create and store the pattern, or Step mode, which allows you to interact while composing a pattern. The onboard Arpeggiator features 8 patterns (you can use just by playing a chord, which the arpeggiator then sequences through your selected pattern. Both the sequencer and arpeggiator in the MS-1-BK are fun, mesmerizing and totally addictive.

When you're ready to strut your stuff and get a little centerstage time, the MS-1-BK has that covered too! Just attach the included guitar strap and handgrip (with pitch bend wheel and a pitch modulation trigger), and take your performance to the next level.

In addition to the great sound-sculpting features already mentioned, the MS-1-BK has still more to offer. The noise generator can also be used as modulation source to create distortion-like effects, which will send your solo soaring into the stratosphere. Glide (portamento) lets you sweep seamlessly over time from one note to the next, creating smooth-as-silk transitions that few other instruments can emulate. MS-1-BK's Bender is also assignable to the VCO, VCF and pitch mod wheel on attachable handgrip. You can even modulate the pulse wave via the LFO, envelope or manually - for sounds ranging from mild to wild!

For those who want the numbers, MS-1-BK has 57 knobs, faders and switches, all laid out in a highly-intuitive format that puts the joy back into your music creation. Input and output connections include: MIDI I/O and Thru over USB/MIDI DIN; Velocity Out; CV; Gate; External Clock In; VCF CV In; Hold; External Audio; Phones; and main Output.

Behringer K2 Analog Semi Modular Synthesiser
Cat: 688736 Rel: 19 Jun 20

Analog semi-modular synthesiser based on Korg's legendary MS20
Notes: Channelling the Korg MS20, Behringer serve up a desktop module with attitude. Semi-modular design plays nicely with Eurorack gear to add a dose of the aggro MS sound to your rig.

Supplier notes:
An ultra-affordable homage to that iconic synthesizer with all the features of the original and then some, the K-2 lets you conjure up virtually any sound with incredible finesse and ease. With its pure analog signal path, dual authentic VCOs with 4 selectable waveforms each, plus extremely flexible VCF and VCA filters, the K-2 is sure to become your favorite keyboard. Owning the K-2 is like having your own personal time machine, enabling you to embrace the past - or make your imprint on the future!

Your K-2 comes ready to rock, thanks to its default signal routing that doesn't require lifting a single patch cable to instantly create amazing sounds. The semi-modular architecture lets you easily tap into the inspired sounds of 1980s and '90s progressive rock, wave, EDM and synth-pop music synthesizer tracks that made rock and roll history - or to design incredibly fat and original sounds that will make you a legend in your own right!

The very heart of K-2's sound is its versatile 6 dB High/12 dB Low filter, which lets you freely experiment with the High and Low-Pass Cutoff Frequencies and their respective peak (resonance) settings to dial in the perfect sound. The high-pass filter sets the level of signals below the cutoff frequency, effectively reducing the fundamental and lower-order harmonics levels. The low-pass filter controls the level of signals above the cutoff, which reduces higher-order harmonic content. K-2's VCF Peak controls provide emphasis to the signals at the crossover frequency.

K-2's authentic Voltage Controlled Oscillators (VCOs) provides an incredible range of 4 variable oscillator shapes with variable pulse widths and ring modulation for the ultimate in sound creation. VCO 1 waveform choices include triangle, reverse-sawtooth, noise and pulse, where the pulse width can be adjusted from square wave to narrow across a 4-octave range (32', 16', 8', or 4'). VCO 2's waveform can be selected from reverse-sawtooth, square, narrow pulse and ring, where both oscillators are operating. VCO 2's pitch can also be varied independently across a 4-octave range (16', 8', 4' and 2'). The VCO Mixer allows you to adjust the levels of VCO 1 and VCO 2 to create an overall mix and a wide range of amazing effects.

K-2's Low Frequency Oscillator (LFO), the Modulation Generator, features a selectable Waveform (reverse sawtooth, triangle, sawtooth) with a sweepable frequency range from 0.1 to 22 Hz - and 2 separate Envelope generators to help you craft incredible sounds! Envelope Generator 1 affects the frequency modulation via controls for Delay, Attack and Release Time, while generator 2 adjusts the cutoff frequency modulation, as well as amplitude modulation of the Voltage Control Amplifier (VCA). Dials for this generator include Hold, Decay, Attack, Sustain, and Release for unparalleled envelope-shaping control.

While it is a monophonic instrument (one note at a time), K-2's 16-note Poly Chain function lets you combine multiple synthesizers for up to 16-voice polyphony - plus provides vastly improved reliability and stability over its 1970s and '80s predecessors.

Designed to handle the rigors of life on the road or in the studio, your K-2 can easily be transferred into a standard Eurorack case for the perfect integration into your existing system.

For those who want the numbers, K-2 has 36 controls, all laid out in a highly-intuitive format that puts the joy back into your music creation. And you can expand K-2's tone-sculpting capabilities beyond your wildest dreams by utilizing the multi-I/O patchbay to connect external devices at virtually any point in the signal path!

MODEL D's Filter Mode switch can be set to either Lo- or Hi-pass for selecting the range of your choice. You can also adjust the Attack, Decay, and Sustain controls to affect the cutoff frequency with time. The VCA Decay switch lets you set the length of time the note lingers after the key has been released. Additionally, support for filter-keytracking allows you to select how much filtering is applied based on the note being played. And if you want to add modulation, just set the Filter Modulation switch to the On position and use the Controllers Mod Mix knob to make it so. The VCA can even be overloaded via MODEL D's feedback circuit to add insane spice and edge to your sounds - without saying "goodbye" to your precious low-end content.

Making Waves:
You are always in complete control of MODEL D's onboard modulators, which features: adjustable Tune; Mod Depth; LFO Rate; Glide (portamento); and Mod Mix knobs. A range of switches is provided for selecting between: triangle or square wave oscillation; modulation On or Off; OSC 3 or Filter EG (Filter Envelope); and Noise (Mod SRC) or LFO. The Tune knob is used to adjust the frequency of OSC 1, 2 and 3 (as long as the OSC 3 switch is turned off). The internal Noise generator, which is switchable between either Pink or White noise for dramatically expanded waveform generation, is the default modulation source, unless an external Mod Source is connected at the 3.5 mm input jack. As we stated earlier, the BEHRINGER MODEL D is the ultimate mono, all-analog synthesizer in its class - especially when it comes to sound quality, versatility and affordability.

Behringer CAT Analogue Synthesizer Behringer CAT Analogue Synthesizer Behringer CAT Analogue Synthesizer Behringer CAT Analogue Synthesizer Behringer CAT Analogue Synthesizer
Cat: 772857 Rel: 18 Jun 20

analogue synthesiser
Notes: The Octave Cat isn't the best known synth that Behringer have turned their attention to, but it's well worth a look. Similar in approach to the Odyssey but with an even broader sonic range, going from warm and fat to tough and edgy.

Supllier notes:
Great care has been taken in engineering the CAT, including the true to the original analog circuitry, legendary VCO, VCF and VCA designs that come together to recreate classic tones that are evocative of classic electronic music. This highly-focused attention to detail is what gives the CAT its ultra-flexible sound shaping capability. It gives you the ability to cover a lot of amazing tones from super-fat bass, tasty leads - and all the way to full on dreamy ambience from the far reaches of your imagination.

The synthesizer tracks laid down in the 1970s and 80s in progressive rock, wave and synth-pop have become classics and have inspired many other artists.

The CAT has the ability to accept any keyboard controller via MIDI. The signals generated can be tweaked via the Pitch Bend slider which can bend a note up or down one octave. Bump this up to two octaves by flipping the Octave Shift switch up or down. Use the Glide slider to change how fast a note transitions to another; up is faster, down is slower. Combine that with the LFO Freq slider to control the LFO and ADSR repeat tempo and you can create some amazing pulsating portamentos.

The very heart of the CAT's sound is its two VCOs. The Duophonic/Paraphonic nature of the CAT allows both oscillators to be controlled independently. Use the Fine and Coarse Frequency controls to tune VCO1 to VCO2. Keyboard control on the CAT can be set to either Mono or Poly. Poly mode lets VCO1 generate the highest note played on the keyboard while VCO2 handles the lowest allowing two notes to be played simultaneously. Setting the switch to Mono mode makes VCO1 generate the lowest note depressed on the keyboard.

Waveform switches on both VCOs allow different waveforms to be patched in from the LFO. Choose between Sine, Square, Sample and Hold and even pitch modulation through each VCO. Turning the Modulation Depth knobs in either direction controls the intensity of the effect. VCO2 also comes with a Sync switch that locks VCO1 with it and has them act as one huge oscillator to produce more complex waveforms and dramatic results. Mix VCO1 into VCO2 or vice versa and the CAT can produce some really tasty tones that make themselves at home in your next synth jam.

Each VCO on the CAT comes equipped with their own waveform sliders where you can adjust the volume of each type of VCO wave form. Pump up the Sub Octave, Sawtooth, Square, Triangle or Pulse waves or mix them all together and create some truly unique tones.

The CAT comes with another set of claws in the form of a VCF filter section. Here you can get more complex and robust tones by incorporating VCO1 into the mix. Introduce more waveforms and manipulate the Q slider to emphasize harmonics and Filter Cutoff slider which acts as a low-pass filter. Turn the CAT into a really funky bass machine or an out-of-this-world synth that creates some searing lead tones. You can even create some amazing drum sounds by manipulating the VCOs, VCF and ADSR.

The CAT features a whole slew of Inputs and Outputs that expand its capabilities beyond what you can see out of the box. You can route external control voltages to VCO1 or 2, the VCF and even pump in some external line-level audio into the CAT. You can even connect the CAT to other external synthesizers through the Gate, ADSR, AR or Keyboard Outputs. The CAT's 16-note Poly Chain function lets you combine multiple synthesizers for up to 16-voice polyphony - and it provides vastly improved reliability and stability over its 1970s and '80s predecessors.

To give the signal even more character, you can use the CAT's Transient Generator to create a detailed voltage transient every time a key is depressed. Adjust the Attack, Decay, Sustain and Release via the matching sliders and to shape your signal. The AR transient generator works similarly to the ADSR but with less detailed control over the envelope. You can also set the ADSR to automatically repeat or only when a key is held down. The Sample and Hold switch can be set so the VCO1 setting is sampled or, when set to Noise mode, produce a random output pattern. Slide the LFO Delay control up or down to determine when the LFO will reach its maximum output after a key is depressed.

The CAT has 47 controls, all laid out in a highly-intuitive format that puts the joy back into your music creation.
