For ever since this high-quality synthesizer developer discontinued its original rack-mountable Pulse and Pulse+ programmable analogue monosynths boasting ballsy bass tones and legendary leads beyond compare, those Nineties electronic musicdominating sounds have been severely sought after by those in the know. Which was exactly what drove us into development overdrive to produce an all-new Pulse fit for the 21st Century.

As an all-new, all-analogue synthesizer design, Pulse 2 flawlessly delivers exactly what synth connoisseurs around the world have been truly craving for quite some time - three analogue oscillators living in perfect harmony with a VCF (VoltageControlled Filter), yet we did not stop there: the fresh filter circuits in the Pulse 2 now offer 12dB Highpass and Bandpass modes in addition to 24dB/12dB Lowpass for strengthened sound-sculpting flexibility, while we added analogue Filter FM, two Overdrive circuits, and Ring Modulation from OSC 3, together with Paraphonic and Unison modes allowing up to eight-voice chords - a fantastic feature found on our recently-released Rocket Synthesizer.

Connectivity comes well catered for courtesy of USB, MIDI In, MIDI Out, Ext In (external analogue signal input), line OUT, and headphone output - not forgetting, of course, CV Out (supporting both the V/octave and Hz/V standards) and Gate Out (V-Trigger- and S-Trigger-compatible), allowing a myriad of suitably equipped older (or newer) synths to be connected to the Pulse 2 to mirror whatever MIDI 'note' information is being played by the Pulse 2, including the output of its powerful ARP (arpeggiator). And if that's not enough to be getting on with, the CV Out can even be modulated in the eight-slot modulation Matrix, making for even more tantalising tone colours and performance possibilities!

Alongside analogue must-haves like a noise generator, Pulsewidth modulation, and hard Sync, other notable features include an Alternating Pulsewidth Modulation mode new to the Pulse 2 (offering a dense PWM sound without affecting perceived loudness), and an XOR Osc mode (that is a binary XOR combination of two PWM oscillators with two distinct output levels - high and low only - capable of producing inharmonic spectra unlike anything associated with any analogue synthesizer other than the original Pulse) - all of which, of course, contribute to kickstarting those still soughtafter sounds right here, right now in the 21st Century. Speaking of which, 500 onboard sound programs should be more than

Notes: The Vermona Mono Lancet is a two-oscillator mono synth with basic architecture, adding one filter, one ADSR envelope and one LFO to the equation. It is a compact synthesizer with big sound, easy user interface and charm.

The Vermona Mono Lancet sits on the desktop and is about the size of a typical paperback book. It has a bit of a retro look to it with its cream star-shaped knobs and two-tone brown metal chassis. It tilts forward slightly, making the three rows of knobs easy to read and all the more tweakable.

The Vermona Mono Lancet is primarily triggered via MIDI and supplies both MIDI input and thru ports on the rear. Round the back is the audio out on a quarter-inch jack and a mysterious 25-pin D-sub socket labelled extension. Over on the left is where you plug in the 12V power supply and next to that is a promising little button labelled overkill.

The top row of controls is used for VCO 1 and 2 and its various modulation options. Each oscillator has a three-position switch to choose from pulse and saw waves, plus one extra option either a triangle for Osc 1 or noise for Osc 2. Both have three-position octave switches with Osc 2 sitting one octave higher. It also offers independent de-tuning by up to seven semi-tones in either direction. The pitch of both oscillators is modulated together, and sources include the LFO and the envelope - which provides positive and negative modulation.

The Glide knob adjusts the speed. When the knob's at zero, the glide is off. There is a second glide legato mode available (this only slides the overlapped notes) and this can be switched on or off via MIDI CC 89. This is achieved by sending the designated MIDI CC number below 64 for off and above 64 for on.

STEREO FIELD is an instrument which allows its user to manipulate and patch two analog stereo circuits directly via touch plates utilizing skin conductivity as new paths for the circuit to follow essentially creating new circuits and new sounds in relation to where your fingers are patching. The individual touch plates are directly connected to nearly every connection point of every component in its circuitry (located directly under each corresponding touch plate). When touched, it will create analog synthesized audio with either of the two mirrored circuits represented by the interlocking circles. These parallel mirrored circuits can be "patched" separately or together yielding vastly different results in regards to texture, timbre and stereo imaging.

This instrument has the ability to create atonal synth tones in stereo (and quad) as well as process incoming stereo audio (and quad) sources via 1/4" and 3.5mm ins and outs. Incoming audio sources can be "patched" or rewoven into any area of either or both of the circuits via skin contact. The input volume knobs shape and effect distortion and drive amounts and behave slightly differently when given a mono input signal versus a stereo signal. The quad inputs and outputs via the 3.5mm jacks have small touch plates leading to and from allowing for touch access of each of the 4 inputs and 4 outputs. If multiple audio signals are traveling into the Stereo Field these audio sources can be intermingled and can modulate one another. Sending CV signals into the 3.5mm input jacks will open up many more possibilities both in terms of synthesized sounds and audio processing.

The Stereo Field can also be used as a sort of lo-fi controlled random source when using the 3.5mm outputs to send CV to your modular system. Due to the nature of feedback and finger patching the 4x available CV signals have the ability to get incredibly complex in nature (see audio examples below in use with a euro-rack system). Because of the open nature of Stereo Field it can both send and receive CV modulation simultaneously. In addition, this can all be happening while your finger patching is changing and altering the incoming and outgoing CV while also processing incoming audio. These ins and outs can also be patched together with cables for sustained tones with the pitch/rhythm/volume/cutoff being affected by adjusting the incoming and outgoing volume knobs in various settings. Inter-patching in this way will also allow for sustained pulse beats and filter like sound shaping in addition to bringing new results to patching via the touch plates. Most importantly, processed audio and synthesized audio are available simultaneously with the ability to influence and modulate each other. This will often blur the lines between the two; who is manipulating who? who comes out on top as audio and who is modulation? This can be a constantly evolving cycle based upon where the performers fingers are placed and highly sensitive skin contact or "pressure" changes.

The sound is sometimes easy to describe; (distortion, filtering, feedback, square wave, pulse width modulation, rhythms, wave-folding, frequency modulation, amplitude modulation, spacial shifts, panning, sub octaves, pitch following) but most of the time these definitions fall "between effects" or in combinations of multiple effects that can be shifting, feeding back or pulsing in sync with incoming audio during processing. Since the user is directly touching analog circuitry through copper touch plates, shifts in pitch/timbre/stereo/drive/modulation can be accessed instantly. The stereo (or quad) imaging of the instrument is both influenced by feedback and modulation in regards to where your fingertips are patching along with modulation caused by incoming audio content. In addition to the sheer number of patching and finger pressure combinations available, the instrument has shown theremin-esque properties in certain settings due to the large surface area of the gold plates. To bring this even a step further it the synth tones can be triggered by only breathing on the plates using breath control to sculpt the audio.

Bass line generator with a rhythmic chord section
Notes: The Arpopone from LepLoop is a little synth-voice for generating a melody or bass line and a chord section at the same time. It is based on analog ramp dividers of which each one generates a voltage ramp starting from a master clock that can be internal or external.

Trig1 and Trig2 potentiometers set the number of clock pulses.

With the Trig Mix switch it is possible to select between a single trigger (1 or 2) or both (1+2) to advance the scales.

The Scale Step potentiometer sets the number of steps for the two scale generators.
In the mixer section, the two scales are summed together to obtain a more complex pattern. The amount of each scale can be set by two controls and can be positive (ascending scale) or negative (descending scale).

With the VCO Pitch knob, the melody can be transposed while maintaining the same interval between notes.

The note generated by the VCO is fed to a chain of dividers to obtain four sub harmonics of the original note. One of these is the bass section with its own filter and envelope, the other three form the chord section with their envelope.

The two envelope sections are identical, both have a selector for different trigger sources:

Trig1 & Trig2: the envelope starts at the flash of the green LED (bass) or yellow LED (chord)
SB1 & SB2: the envelope starts at the first step of Scale1 (bass) or Scale2 (chord)
White & Blue: the envelope follows the intensity of the white LED (bass) or the blue LED (chord). Except for this setting the envelope length is set by the two controls Bass ENV and Chord ENV. Additionally, an EXT CV input allows to provide an external envelope.
The bass channel is passed through a resonant low-pass filter with Cutoff and Resonance control.

Finally the Bass and Chord channels are mixed together. The output level is set by the Bass LEV and Chord LEV controls.

Notes: The electribe has been reborn including KORG's latest technology distilled from popular products such as the KingKORG, kaossilator, kaoss pad, and taktile. The 200 preset patterns cover House and Techno as well as cutting-edge dance music genres such as Trap and EDM. Another major evolution of the new electribe is support for polyphonic playback, which is indispensable for musical styles that involve complex chord progressions such as House music.

Using the 16 pads placed on the front of the unit, you can create patterns intuitively while actually hearing and seeing the sounds. You can use the pads as a keyboard to realtime-record phrases, and also perform step recording by entering the pitch and rhythmic value one note at a time. The patterns you create can be used in alternate forms as you perform by taking advantage of the "step jump" feature inherited from the volca series, or by changing the "last step" to vary the length of each part.

There's also a "motion sequence" function that lets you record knob and button operations and use them in the pattern that you create. Either drums or synths can now be assigned to each of the 16 parts (i.e., the 16 pads). For example you could create complex rhythms by assigning drums to all of the 16 parts.

Familiar from the kaossilator is the "touch scale" function that lets anyone perform without wrong notes, just by moving a finger across the touch pad. The trigger pads that were popular on the taktile are also provided, making it easy for anyone to create phrases intuitively. The trigger pads can also be used for drum input. Settings allow you to switch velocity on/off.

For the electribe, KORG designed a synth engine that gives you the maximum sound-creating freedom and the fastest sound production. The 409 oscillator waveforms include analog modeling and PCM. The analog modeling synth engine provides a broad variety ranging from simple basic waveforms to complex combinations such as dual, unison, sync, ring modulation, and cross modulation. The PCM sound engine provides mainly rhythm sounds, but also covers multisamples for keyboard. (collaborations with Sample Magic, Loopmasters, Prime Loops are included)

The filters at the heart of the sound-shaping capabilities are inherited directly from the KingKORG, and they use filter algorithms that simulate standard synthesizers so that you can get "the sound" which was used in famous songs, just by selecting the appropriate filter type.

You can also apply filters to drums to create rhythm tracks that are rich in tonal variation. Modulation can make sound-creation more complicated, but we've made it easy by condensing it down to three parameters: simply select a template that specifies an effect and its target, and then adjust the speed and depth of the effect to suit your taste.

The new electribe provides effects such as compression and overdrive for each part, giving you uncompromising control over the nuances of individual sounds that differ subtly between genres. The groove function can be specified for each part, letting you apply a groove to your phrase simply by selecting a template.

The master effects can be controlled from the touch pad just like on the kaoss pad, and they include not only spatial-type effects that shape the overall acoustics but they also include effects that apply aggressively musical transformations such as the "Vinyl Break" effect inherited from the Kaoss pad series, and the newly developed "Seq Reverse" and "Odd Stepper" that change the playback order of the sequencer. These are also extremely effective for live performance. Insert effects can be assigned for individual parts, opening up even more complex sound-design possibilities. There's also a "pattern set" function which lets you switch patterns by pressing trigger pads, and an "event recording" function that records that performance. In addition to MIDI IN/OUT, "Sync IN/OUT" is also provided, allowing synchronized performances with the volca series, monotribe, or MS-20 mini. Master sync station for electronic instruments
Notes: The RH-301 is KOMA Elektronik's solution to a problem many musicians are struggling with: analog and digital equipment that needs to run side by side on a steady tempo: in sync. Analog clock, DIN Sync and MIDI - the RH-301 syncs them all up. The RH-301 is a 'Master Sync Station' that helps electronic musicians get the most out of their equipment by properly syncing their devices and adding an LFO and an envelope that are synced as well.

The beating heart of the unit is the master clock, of which the tempo can be set freely by turning the tempo knob, by tapping a tempo on the tap button, by syncing it to MIDI, DIN Sync or to an external CV clock signal. Besides the normal clock output the user can also divide the tempo signal with the Divisions knob and send a faster or slower tempo signal via the two Division Outputs. The generated clock signal can be passed on to other devices via the two Clock Outputs, two Division Outputs or via the MIDI Output and DIN Sync Output. An incoming MIDI signal can also be passed through via the MIDI Through and Out jacks. All clock outputs are buffered.

The second feature of the RH-301 is the LFO, which can be synced to the master clock or run freely up to 260 Hz in five different shapes: sine, triangle, square, S&H and a special Sine & Noise. This means the pedal can also be used as an oscillator, when the user turns the LFO up into the audible ranges. When the LFO is in Sync-Mode the user can choose the same divisions as the divisions of the master clock. Also wave shaping is available for all of those waveforms. The LFO has two separate outputs on the patch bay: LFO Out and Inverted LFO Out. All the features of the LFO are also controllable via control voltage, the pedal boasts CV inputs for LFO Speed, LFO Reset and LFO Symmetry.

The third feature of the pedal is an ADSR that can be easily synced to the master clock, or run in loop mode. Besides the normal controls for Attack, Decay, Sustain and Release the pedal comes with a Range knob to set the time range of the envelope created, going from a short and snappy linear to a longer and more organic logarithmic response. The EG comes with a normal Envelope Output, but also an Inverted Output. The Envelope Generator can be triggered by an external Gate or Trigger CV Source through the Envelope Gate Input. Besides all these features, the RH-301 also comes with a built-in KOMA Elektronik sensor, which can be used as a separate CV Output on the patch bay as well. No matter what your setup is, digital or analog, if you use a modular synthesizer, DAW, drum computer, synthesizer or KOMA's own BD-101 and FT-201 effect pedals, the RH-301 is an effective tool to make sure they all walk in line.

The aim was to develop a simpler and lighter device that has less components, offers the same broad capabilities, and removes possible flows of the Polivoks full synth. As a result of this research, a new minimalistic schematic appeared. It has fewer controls that are compensated by greater functionality. For example, in the Modulator section the Form switch has been replaced by the controller with triangular oscillation in the middle position and sawtooth shape oscillation smoothly falling in the extreme positions.

The controller for the envelope filter input is set to zero in the middle position and its value increases by turning the knob clockwise, while turning the knob counter-clockwise increases inverse voltage of the envelope generator. Notes: The idea of the Polivoks Mini analog synthesiser came into mind in 1990, as the junior version of its older brother - the well known Polivoks full synth. The aim was to develop a simpler and lighter device that has less components, offers the same broad capabilities, and removes possible flows of the Polivoks full synth. As a result of this research, a new minimalistic schematic appeared. It has fewer controls that are compensated by greater functionality. For example, in the Modulator section the Form switch has been replaced by the controller with triangular oscillation in the middle position and sawtooth shape oscillation smoothly falling in the extreme positions.

The controller for the envelope filter input is set to zero in the middle position and its value increases by turning the knob clockwise, while turning the knob counter-clockwise increases inverse voltage of the envelope generator. The main synthesizer sections, such as generator, famous Polivoks filter and multimode envelope generator, are essentially the same as the Polivoks, and have this unique sound. In addition, the main generator of the Polivoks Mini doesn't require any thermal stabilization or adjustment.

In general, the simplified schematic delivers the sound appreciated by a wide range of musicians with minimal means but new capabilities. The Polivoks Mini is a keyboardless version with integrated USB and MIDI interfaces.
