Notes: The AMP Electronics Melody Oracle is a pattern generating sequencer/synthesizer with a game-board style switching interface. It utilizes a pattern generating method not found on any other sequencer.

The top panel of the Melody Oracle consists of six zones. Each zone is a switching matrix for generating a particular aspect of a musical pattern.

Each zone has seven downward-pointing triangular contacts, and one upward pointing contact. The outer contacts determine the frequency of on-and-off switching behavior for the zone. The central upward pointing triangle in each zone serves to invert that zone's pattern.

The upper three zones are called registers, and are used for gating the three octaves of the synthesizer.

The lower three zones are called "intervals" and are used for creating note pattern sequences. Although there are only three interval zones, they are added (in a 3-bit binary system) to create eight different notes, set via fine tuners found on the back of the unit.

Notes: One of the most unusual synths around, based on a rotating optical disc which functions as a sequencer. Program the built-in pulsewave synth engine or control other synths using the optional Wave Expander.

Taking its cosmic inspiration from star charts and ancient astrolabes, Star Song is a rotating optical disc-programmed sequencer with a built-in minimalist synthesizer.

Star Song can be used either to play its own built-in pulsewave synthesizer, or in combination with the A.M.P. electronics Wave Expander (sold separately) to drive external analogue and modular synthesizers.

How it is used

To create sequences on Star Song, the seven translucent rings (orbits) of the optical disc are marked with a marker (included) or opaque tape. The disc is removable and additional discs are sold separately, allowing for indefinite storage of your favourite sequences.

The outer six rings control the tuned note selection and note-on/off sequencing. The innermost ring controls the cut-off frequency for the built-in bandpass filter.

Disc on/off and disc direction are toggled from touch contacts on the front panel, and disc speed is controlled from the central rotary control.

Additionally, there are 1/8" inputs to control rotation speed and rotation direction with an external source.

The addition of Wave Expander makes the Star Song into an incredibly versatile Gate(6 channels) and CV (1 channel) sequencer, as well as providing the Star Song's tuned audio oscillator over five separate octave divisions (four audio and one sub-audio), 12 outputs in all to integrate into your modular system.

Multiple Star Song units can be synced by using an external clock signal, and you can even slave Star Song to your existing Melody Oracle/Wave Expander combo.

Notes: The Pocket Piano returns and is better than ever! Like its predecessor, the 201 Pocket Piano is fun, portable, and packed with a medley of musical magic!

The 201 is nearly pocket size, but don't let its small size fool you! Under the hood is some powerful circuitry that will allow you to explore your musical ideas quickly and easily.

Description

Sounds

At the heart of the 201 are six sound engines providing a wide range of sonic texture. Use the shift key to select an engine. There is a little bit of everything: chiptune style waveforms, analogue style filters, drum samples, realistic physical instrument models, and even a human vocal synthesizer. Use the three centre control knobs to further explore the sounds. Dial in the right amount of sustain, or adjust the tone. Or turn the 'surprise' knob if you are brave!

Patterns

Play directly on the keyboard or turn on one of the pattern generators. From simple octave arpeggiation to randomizing polyphonic patterns you will be inspired by the notes coming out of the 201! Use the first control knob to set the pattern's tempo.

The pattern generators also work great for creating drum beats using the drum samples!

Sequencer

If you like the way something sounds, recording it is just a button press away! There is a handy metronome that you can play/record along with. When the sequence is playing back you can endlessly change the pattern and synth engine. When you get it just right, hit the save button. You can save 'unlimited' sequences (well... not really unlimited, but many thousands). Then recall saved sequences easily using the navigation buttons.

Connectable

The 201 wants to be friends with all your other gear! It works great with guitar effects pedals and amps. With MIDI in and out you can control other synthesizers with the 201, or the other way around. A USB-C connector lets you easily move files on and off the instrument.

Open source

Critter & Guitari is committed to making musical electronics that are open platforms. Like the Organelle and EYESY instruments, the 201 is built entirely with Open Source software.

Inside, the 201 uses a combination of Pure Data and Faust musical programming environments. Users are invited to modify or create new sound engines!

Quality materials

The 201 is built to last. It features an anodized aluminium enclosure and maple buttons for a nice, tactile feel. It's assembled and tested by hand at Critter & Guitari's shop in Brooklyn, NY.

Welcome to the world of the EYESY - Critter & Guitari's video synthesizer! The EYESY reacts to your music to create endlessly mesmerising visuals. Simply plug it in and start creating. But don't be fooled by the simplicity of the EYESY, there are many features and goodies hidden inside. Whether you are creating live visuals, working on a music video, or want to program your own graphics, the EYESY will become an indispensable tool.

The EYESY comes with numerous pattern generators called modes. Navigate the modes using buttons, and then tweak their visual appearance using five knobs. The modes respond to audio input in various ways; from smooth undulating patterns to rapid fire animations. The controls allow you to effect various elements of the patterns and colors. There is also a setting that allows the graphics to pile up in vibrant collages.

Store your current settings and screen grabs.- when you happen upon a setting that you like, press the scene save button to save it. This scene can now be recalled at a future time.
You can press the screen grab button to take a picture of the current frame, providing a quick way to generate interesting still images from your moving videos. Access all of your screen grabs from the browser-based interface.

The EYESY's USB-MIDI & TRS-MIDI inputs offer a wide range of controllability. Incoming MIDI Notes and Clock can change a mode's behavior. The knobs can automated by sending MIDI controller messages from a sequencer or your favorite performance software. Program Change messages may also be sent to select your saved scenes.

Curate your EYESY for you. You can add and remove the pattern generating modes to make the device as simple or complex as you like. The saved scenes are stored in a single file that can be saved and edited. All of the resources are managed through a simple-to-use web browser-based interface.

If you really want to go deep, you can also program your own modes for the EYESY. Edit and create your own modes! The modes are all open source and based on an open platform. You can make changes to the modes and create new modes using the browser-based editor. Modes are written in the Python programming language.
