Notes: Despite its small housing the PL2 is a complete duophonic mono synthesizer. The PL2 generates an enormous variety of sounds with the help of two square wave (pulse) oscillators which can be interconnected in variable and innovative ways - these are fun to experiment with. Not only the classic waveforms such as saw-, sine- or pulse-waves will be simulated, rather newly and interesting sounds - from warm to destructive - are also generated.

The PL2 receives its data always via MIDI channel 1 and all setting parameters can be edited by MIDI controller commandos.
Up to 32 of your own self-programmed sounds can be stored in the user memory area. In addition, further 32 factory sounds are located within a fixed memory area which provides ideal starting material to experiment with.

Generally the PL2 follows the principle of subtractive synthesis in which the waveform (generated by the oscillators) first runs through a wide range adjustable digital filter stage (low- high- and band-pass) to edit the frequency spectrum and/or amplify the resonance area if desired. After the digital filter an additional analog low-pass filter follows which particularly ensures the necessary warmth especially for destructive- and digital-like sounds.

Wait, there's more: a dedicated analog saturation stage at the output provides dynamic compression and therefore a respectable bass punch is created.

Of course the PL2 includes several additional options in terms of sound and playing manipulation like LFO modulation, PWM, ADSR envelope and various play modes. Another interesting detail: LFO- and envelope-speed synchronise automatically to an external applied MIDI clock - whereby the PL2 perfectly adjust to your song tempo.

Thanks to the memory flash technology: future PL2 synthesizer extensions or new features can be integrated by updating the firmware via MIDI system exclusive (SysEx) transmission.

Notes: The PL2 is an analog synth with a digital (state variable) multimode filter running at 125kHz, followed by an analog lowpass filter. It comes in two versions:

Soundwise identical to the original black version, the white PL2 Leukos USB only works with computers or iPads (USB camera connection kit required).

Instead of a MIDI Input, it features a MIDI Output, so you can connect an additonal black PL2 or any other MIDI synthesizer.

Notes: The Korg Monotron Duo is capable of creating even stranger, extreme and diverse sounds. The combination of 2 oscillators in unison provide thick, rich analogue tones, while tuning them to different intervals can create classic solo synth sounds and powerful effects. Korg have utilized their X-Mod (cross modulation taken from their classic Mono/Poly synths) circuitry in the Monontron Duo, enabling you to generate the mildest of sounds, to vibrant vibrato, to sharp, fm style abrasive synth sounds.

The Monotron Duo features Korg's fantastic enhanced ribbon controller keyboard and now features the same scale function as used on the Kaossilator, chromatic, major, minor or off scales are available, allowing your music juices to flow freely over any music. The distinctive tone of an analog filter (VCF) can dramatically alter and enrich the sound. The Monotron Duo uses the same highly acclaimed VCF circuit as Korg's classic MS-10 and MS-20 semi modular synthesizers. Originally released over 30 years ago, these instruments are still coveted today for their aggressive, dynamic filters. The VCF Cutoff knob sets the frequency or tone of the filter; the VCF Peak knob adds emphasis. A powerful filter is an essential aspect of any analog synthesizer, applying dramatic tonal changes to the sound, and projecting an intense personality that will stand out in any live performance.

The input jack (AUX input) built into the Monotron Duo's compact body allow you to place any audio source into the Monotron Duo's signal path, directly before the analog filter. This provides a great way to connect a Kaossilator, a guitar, or a digital audio player to the Monotron and enjoy tone-bending filter effects.

A miniature speaker is built into the Monotron Duo. Along with the battery operation and compact size, this feature allows you to enjoy the share the Monotron Duo's analog synthesis sound with your friends, anywhere, at any time. There's also a headphone output that you can use when practicing in private, creating sounds at home, recording, or for connecting to an amplifier or PA system.
