Review: Wes Montgomery is a jazz giant and one of the scene's finest guitarists. Review: Originally released in 2017, async was the 19th studio album from Japanese heavyweight Ryuichi Sakamoto, breaking a near-decade-long hiatus during which he was treated for throat cancer. And it's incredibly dense stuff to dive into, with genius on display both in terms of theoretical approach to recording, and avant-garde thinking behind what a record could and should be. Of course, that's hardly surprising for Sakamoto, whose legacy as one of Japan's foremost sonic adventurers may still not be stated enough, even after all the post-humous repressings and tributes. On this outing, then, we have strange, otherworldly interpretations of everyday instruments, a heavy focus on playing with textures of sound, bits of artists such as David Sylvian and Paul Bowles reading texts, found noises from city streets and themes of mortality, and our difficulty in accepting that truth.

A-138s is a simple but useful 4-in-2 mixing tool. It has four inputs available. Each input is equipped with an attenuator (Level) and a panning control that is used to distribute the signal to the left and right output. Beyond stereo mixing it is equally suited to create variable parallel routings. For example: Any of the four inputs may be routed in variable intensity to feed two filters.

You may regard the A-138s as a smaller version of the A-138m Matrix Mixer.

Review: Surely one of the greatest horror films of all time, Dawn Of The Dead transcended the zombie format to make some incisive points about human society with more than a few laughs thrown in for good measure. The score is just as brilliant as the on-screen action, made up of cues from the De Wolfe library and peppered with some stand-out tunes like The Pretty Things' 'Cause I'm A Man'. "From the Preface to The Knot: This book contains the words to every song I've written worth collecting to date from all my musical projects throughout the years. I've left out various imbecilities and feckless half-starts. Also included in this book are several previously published short stories. They're taken from the collections The Consumer and The Egg, as well as a few other hand- made limited editions of stories. In a few cases I've included excerpts rather than the entire story. This was done for aesthetic purposes, with the overall feel of this current volume in mind. There are a great many journal entries in this book. For the most part they are also, emphatically fiction. They're from an ongoing journal, not a diary. My journals are where I often allow a disembodied, fictional 1st person narrator to take over and unspool imagined events, diatribes, impossible scenarios, psychic auto-cannibalisms, and corrosive or ecstatic dreams etc. Again, these are fiction. Certain things I've written about (in fiction and in song form) seem to exist beneath the surface (in myself and others) and I find them compelling to look at and to describe. I view this as a positive act. In acknowledgment of the constricting and microscopically judgmental and censorious times we live in, the usual authorial caveats apply here. Certainly there are many purely anecdotal journal entries included in this book as well, and my presumption is that an intelligent reader would be able to differentiate one from the other. Personally, I'm very suspicious of memory (especially my own), so I can't definitively vouch for the veracity of the recounting of the literal events herein either. I have also excised material that I felt too personal to include, out of respect for the people involved as well as for myself. There are several large gaps in the journal entries over the years. This is due to lost journals of the time, and in one case a lost laptop (which, painfully, contained a great deal of writing). There are also periods where I didn't keep a journal and didn't write fiction. In any event, I've tried to include fiction and journal entries that correspond roughly to the period before and after a musical album's release and the words that were written for that music. The end section of this book consists of recently unearthed visual documents and imagery and functions here as an incidental archive. The images span the years from 1974 to the present."

Review: A new standard black 5xLP box set to complement an alternate bicoloured deluxe version; The American Analog Set's formative first three albums - The Fun Of Watching Fireworks, From Our Living Room To Yours, and The Golden Band - are here gathered together under the name New Drifters, making up a great account of experimental breadth of the late 1990s Texas scene, and its utlimate expression in the work of this fivesome set of slowcorers. We hear a long take, as the band deliver a slow burning power-of-three for local monopolist Emperor Jones, all while quelling the thrums of fin-de-siecle angst by way of soft-sung tenors, emo catharses and sawn-off math rhythms. Notably but disputably described as "sloth kraut", there's a sepia-toned feel to the whole thing, but it's anything but lethargic; rather, it's beautiful. Remastered from the original analog tapes, this early-career spanning 5xLP box includes lyrics, photos and ephemera from the before times.

Review: If you've not seem the movie Oppenheimer chances are you've had your head buried deep in the sand for the past year or so. The multi-Academy Award-winning scientific epic charts the development of the first nuclear bomb and subsequent realisation, on the part of the man who cracked the formula, that such terrifying power should never have been brought into our world. Directed by Christopher Nolan, outspoken critics of the master filmmaker may by now be wondering if he'll ever make another movie with a linear storyline - so much of his output is anything but these days. Review: In the mid-80s, Svitlana Okhrimenko, Oleksandr Kohanovs'kyi, and Tamila Mazur, students at the Reinhold Glier Kyiv Academy of Music, formed the foundation of Cukor Bila Smert. Their blend of music and camaraderie led to the addition of Eugene Taran, who further helped shape the band's vision. Dubbed Sugar - White Death, their ironic moniker challenged media sensationalism and amidst endless musical exploration, they crafted two albums in 1988 and 1989. The band's unique "sugar calypso sound" emerged, a blend of Kohanovs'kyi's music and lyrics by Okhrimenko and Taran. A significant studio session in 1990 yielded tracks featured on the Mannered Music compilation which sparked international interest. Their journey concluded in 1993 with the release of "Selo" by Koka Records, and now some of the best bits make it onto this new collection.

Analogue Tone Stack and Onboard Delay

In contrast to the limited EQs found in other small amps, the Katana-Mini comes equipped with a genuine three-band analog tone stack. This provides natural sound shaping via familiar bass, mid, and treble controls, just like the tone stack in a full-size stage amp. In addition, you can enhance your sound further with the Katana-Mini's cool tape-style delay. Using the dedicated time and level knobs, it's simple to dial in everything from subtle reverb-like ambience to long, warm delay repeats.
