Reprise begins its complete restoration of their repertoire with 2xCD expanded remasters of their first three internationally released albums. 'The Studio Albums 1967-1968' is the definitive overview of the 5-piece Bee Gees line-up that shot to stardom in the late 60s: harmonising brothers Barry, Robin, and Maurice Gibb, and Australian musicians Vince Melouney and Colin Petersen. The revitalisation of these three early albums marks the first time the group has opened their extensive tape vaults for archival mining. On Bees Gees' 1st, Horizontal and Idea, the musical genius of the Bee Gees now sounds better than ever. Each reissue features the original album remastered in stereo and mono, plus a second disc of rare and unreleased tracks pulled for the first time ever from the Bee Gees' tape vaults. In-depth liner notes feature brand-new interviews from Barry and Robin Gibb. The Booklets also feature rare and previously unseen photos. Review: Robert Henke's new ambient work 'Layering Buddha' is a dark, shimmering, epic journey, solely created with sounds taken from the famous FM3 Buddha Machine. By transforming, filtering and massively layering its thin buzzing audio sound from this device he has achieved intrusive and dense soundscapes with strong cinematic associations, slowly travelling into deeper and deeper sonic layers, opening spaces where the perception of time is extended, where microscopic details become visible, and where slight changes in colour and timbre create sensations of giant structures moving slowly in the distance. The sound of the original Buddha Machine player was captured using state of the art recording equipment, capable of collecting artefacts far beyond the frequency response of the human ear. This made it possible to reveal hidden and usually inaudible aspects of the material during the processing, leading to sonically rich results full of incredible, almost organic detail. During the work on the project long permeating sequences were set up, using numerous independent layers of processed sound, all oscillating with their own frequency and breath. In a later production step these long sequences were re-arranged and cut down to obtain more closed works of different colour. Finally, the most fascinating structures were chosen and assembled to form the Layering Buddha CD and limited edition vinyl. The CD has been compiled to work best as one long audio piece where the order of the tracks, and the way they interleave, guides the listener through different moods and places. Since the Layering Buddha work became such a long and intensive occupation for me and the result is of such extraordinary timeless beauty, we decided not only to release the CD but also to offer a limited edition vinyl box. Part of the fascination of the original FM3 Buddha Machine comes from the fact that it is a toy-like tool where one can experience each built-in loop as a solitary thing. But it's also a source of experimentation - turning on more than one player at a time is highly satisfying. The limited edition vinyl box is a reference to this. Each work on the five record set can be played at any speed but, just like the original Buddha Machines, playing back two or more records simultaneously allows the creation of an infinite number of variations. The artwork for the CD and the vinyl edition is based on a work by Australian photographer Justine Lera.

Review: 'Notations Archiv 1' is a project by students of Klasse Systemdesign at Academy of visual arts Leipzig during winter semester 2005/06. The project focused on visualization of sound. It was supervised by Carsten Nicolai and Cyan (Professor Daniela Haufe and Professor Detlef Fiedler). The 13 notations are related to selected tracks from 'Archiv 1' album released by Raster-Noton.

Review: Disputed and celebrated: Hermann Nitsch, Actionist and painter, composer and stage designer. He is one of the most renowned Austrian artists of today and nevertheless still divides the art world as before. Nitsch belongs beside Günter Brus, Otto Mühl and Rudolf Schwarzkogler to the most important main actors of Viennese Actionism. At the beginning of the sixties he carried out his first 'Actions' in Vienna, which involved several trials and three terms of imprisonment. His main work, the "Orgy Mystery Theatre", inspired by Greek mythology, as well as by Antonin Artaud and Sigmund Freud, has been introducing, building up and carrying on all art forms since this time. On this DVD there is a 4-hour overview of all 'Actions' of 1962-2003, as well as an interview from 2005. The 80-page book (German/English) with a text by Florian Schreiner and numerous photos explains the theoretical basis of Nitsch's work. On the CD are recordings of the 122nd 'Action' in the castle theatre Vienna. Hand-numbered edition of 1000 copies worldwide.

Hum in an audio system is often caused by loop effects which act like antennas. These loops can easily pick up a 60 Hz (or higher harmonics) hum transmitted by electrical wiring. Typically, these loops are connected via grounds, more commonly called 'ground loops'. The safest way to eliminate unwanted noise is with the CleanBOX II.
