Review: It may come with an eyebrow-raising price tag, but what's on offer here is undeniably alluring: a box set of 10 seven-inch singles containing all of the songs from Louie Vega's brilliant Expansions In The NYC album - an all-star affair in which the Masters at Work man celebrated his love of New York disco, boogie and house. The album itself is incredible, with fantastic musicianship, arrangements and vocals, while the cast list - which includes original electrofunk outfit Unlimited Touch, Peech Boys main man Bernard Fowler, Honey Dijon, Cindy Mazelle, Moodymann, Kerri Chandler and his son Nico - is similarly impressive. It's a great product, packed with brilliant music: a fitting finale to this portion of the ongping 'Expansions NYC' project.

The first two tracks tackle the one time King of Pop, while the undisputed soul god that is Marvin Gaye then gets some special treatment with an Underboss remix of "I Want You." Review: House legend Danny Krivit is back on our charts with this uber-lush compilation pack that was originally put together for RSD 2018 but that, thankfully, we managed to secure a few copies for you on here! The pack comes in the form of his alias, Mr. K, and you'll seriously struggle to find better, more well-produced edits than these. Called The Funk Box, there is nothing on here you won't enjoy if you're a fan of soul, with most of Krivit's edits leaving enough space for the original to flourish while still pushing it far enough onto the middle of the dancefloor. And that's exactly it - if Mr. K touches one of your tunes, it will become danceable.

The package contains seven 7"s, containing 14 tracks picked by Henry Binns and Sam Hardaker themselves. Featuring their acclaimed collaborations with Sia, Sophie Barker, Mozez, Jose Gonzalez and Martha Tilston among others. This is the first time some of these tracks have been made available on such format. Four tracks are taken from 2001's Simple Things LP, a further three are taken from their 2004 album When It Falls, four from The Garden (2006) and the final two come from the 2009 album Yeah Ghost. Artwork is by the band's original design collaborator (Julian House) and the sleeves are colour coded - placed into a cruciform overwrap sleeve with heavyweight vinyl.

It sees them join forces with specially created nine-piece combo The M19s Band to serve up fresh covers of a range of well-known and obscure "dance floor bangers" (as the accompanying press release puts it). There are some superb interpretations, with the Police's dub disco jam "Voices Inside My Head" becoming a sweet soul-jazz treat, the Clash's "Magnificent Dance" reborn as a Latin jazz number (complete with Rich Medina spoken word vocal) and Womack & Womack's "Baby I'm Scared of You" a seductive, shuffling Afro-Cuban jazz standard. In a word: brilliant.

Review: Despite his London roots, rapper and beat-maker Lewis Parker has always excelled at making dusty, sample-heavy tracks that sound like they could have come out of New York in the midst of hip-hop's "golden era". For proof, check this brilliant box set, which gathers together some of his finest moments from the late 1990s and early 2000s on five "45s". There's a mix of killer vocal tunes, accompanying instrumentals and the kind of deep, head-nodding soundscapes that would once have been classed as trip-hop (he did feature prominently on Massive Attack's Melankoly label after all). It's not hyperbole to say that "The 45 Collection" contains some of the most entertaining and well-produced British hip-hop ever made.

The Juno review team already have several of these heaters in our collective record horde but since the box set arrived there hasn't been a day passed without an admiring glance thrown in it's general direction. For those unfamiliar with the likes of "Supacat" and "Gunshot", they are fine examples of the Jeep Beat sample heavy instrumental hip hop sound Dope dabbled in during the early nineties. It's the presence here of both the thunderous "Blood Vibes" and the Minnie Ripperton sampling "Get On Down" that makes this box set nigh on essential.
