Review: Ben Sims's Hardgroove imprint hits its 30th release and 20th year of operations with the beginning of a new split EP series entitled 'Toe to Toe', with Vol.1 provided by Mella Dee and Subradeon.
The UK's Mella Dee has developed a strong rep for robust club sounds via his aptly titled Warehouse Music imprint in recent years while the Berlin-based Subradeon duo have been dropping slick Detroit influenced sounds for Motech, Rekids and their own eponymous imprint.
Review: Lion & Lamb Records emerges from the London-based community of underground electronic heads orbiting the venue of the same name. Considering the quality of the events, you can drop the needle on this various artists joint safe in the knowledge the same high standards apply. The killer new project from Voigtmann, V3000 is up first with the ear-snagging machine funk of "The Man Who Belongs To The Horizon", before Alex Celler drops in some utterly cheeky, wriggling micro house naughtiness to add some spice to the after party. Andre King brings things back to an electro tip for the edgy sci-fi noir of "Floating Sensation" and Unai Trotti restores the balance with some boisterous 4/4 bleep business.
Review: Constant Sound's electro arm, Infiltrate, calls upon the considerable talents and technical heft of London Modular Alliance for a bruising EP of body-popping exploration strapped to a tough n' funky beatdown. "Crack Fox" is as nervy and nimble as the title might suggest, while "Regular Customer" takes things in a hyper-detailed direction compatible with the kind of advanced machine funk you expect from Silicon Scally. "Blinky" follows suit with another artfully woven web of twitchy synth hooks and deftly sequenced drums, and then "Other Worlds" switches things up with some seriously hefty bass pressure pivoting around a dubstep attitude towards space and moodiness.
Review: The mightily talented Berlin beatsmith Nick Beringer comes to Constant Black with the kind of rigourous grooves that have found favour with labels like Skylax, MyHouse YourHouse and Raum...musik. Beringer's sound is a perfect fit for Constant Sound's deeper cousin, matching crafty sound design and razor sharp sequencing with that all-important minimal tech house groove. Things get playful and freaky on "Noseblunt" and decidedly uptempo and techy on the club mix of "Turning Point", but throughout Beringer's sharp sense of tension and release, not to mention his ear-snagging sound design, bind these four deadly cuts together as one immensely satisfying package.
Review: The funking, bumping sound of Aesthetic continues to bolster the impact of parent label Constant Sound, bringing a more colourful palette to realm of minimal tech house. The latest Aesthetic release comes from emergent talents Josh Baker & Alfa, working in collaboration to summon up some sprightly grooves to put a spring in your step. "Formulate" is especially bouncy, not least thanks to those nimble synth lines, while "No 800" takes things in a tougher direction without losing that groovy swing and rich sense of melody. "Exteria" completes the set with a particularly funky concoction that heads towards the deeper end of the night.
Review: Politics Of Dancing Records celebrate their 5th anniversary with two various artists vinyls, involving a solid line up of confirmed and promising producers. Here is the second part featuring the talented Chris Stussy, Djoko & T. Jacques, Michael James and Jamahr, all delivering some serious deep house and fine tech house tracks, tailored for demanding dancefloors.
Review: After releasing a track via Ben Sims' Tribology compilation in 2018 VIL drops his 'Ritmica EP' on the British DJ's legendary Hardgroove imprint this October.
Previous output for Synewave, Analog Solutions and Planet Rhythm have won Lisbon's VIL support from across the techno community and the 'Ritmica EP's propellant cuts continue a strong discography.
Opener '97-1' is an urgent heads down affair that rarely takes a breath, instead relying on the ebb and flow of pads to provide contrast to the undulating bass and punchy rhythm track. 'Field', taken from last year's Tribology comp, is next up and unfolds a little more slowly with creeping breakbeats laying the grit atop a detailed hypnotic groove. On the flip, 'Breaker' and 'Hawav' go for the late-night dance floor assault from the off, the former employing breaks and phased, percussive lead sounds to substantial effect while the latter lets loose with distorted kicks and chewy, arpeggiated bass.
Review: Mark Broom's long-awaited solo EP debut for Hardgroove is upon us and, true to form, for the M-Plant and Beardman producer is a masterclass in groove led, funk-laced techno.
'Outta Sight' opens the EP with purposeful, undulating stabs mirrored by a powerful sub while the second cut, 'L4LV' heads down a dystopian yet crunching, drum-led path to hammer its point home. The title track is Broom at his stripped-back best, with just a handful of elements and deft arrangement doing all the work while track four, 'TR1', serves as a neat, dancefloor wrecking summation of the moods, sounds and production touches of the preceding three cuts.
Review: In comes the debut release from Robert James' Body Movement label. Inspired by his party of the same name, Rob takes charge of the label's first EP with three brand new cuts that showcase his deep appreciation of electronic music, plus a remix from underground hero Voigtmann. 'Revenge Of The Wasp' kicks things off, channeling mid-nineties electro techno a la Drexciya, with Rob crafting a mesmerising journey into the cosmos. 'Life Grooves' is a party starter, with its pumping beats and booming bassline progressing into dreamy techno atmospherics. On the flip we have the aptly-titled 'Break Mode' with its insistent break loop supporting soft, swirling pads, solemn bass and a mysterious vocal clip. Lastly, Voigtmann's remix of 'Break Mode' softens the overall feel of the track, cultivating a smoother, more laid back aura.

Review: Joe Lucas creates music under a few monikers most often as Causa and notably has appeared on Tusk Wax, Boogie Box and Birdie. The Causa sound elegantly touches on deep house grooves and melodic techno but with contemporary style and is an obvious choice for the Verdant family. The Locks EP is released as Sixtyone leaning towards Detroit flavours with intricate percussion layered with warm soulful keys. Previous releases have attracted high profile remixes from Kuniyuki, Luv Jam and Young Marco and that trend continues. On the flip of The Locks Stojche provides a burly, peak time reshape of Zelo upping the Detroit vibes. Hiver's reshape of the delicate Tregnanton original adds a firm kick, swinging bassline and heady 303 sparkle with dazzling effectiveness.
Review: Russ Gabriel founder of Ferox Records and the house music label - Soul On Wax Communications is one of the U.K.'s most respected producers, having recorded nearly one hundred EPs and several albums since 1991.
His recent debut release The Controller on the respected Firescope Records continued his record of outstanding releases. He now arrives on Subconscious Algorithms with 4 slices of deep classic motor city techno. From the opening track "16 hours" with lush pads and electronic funk and "Dromedary" with deep grooves and dose of acid to "Photoa" we are in Detroit territory. The closing track "End of Doubt" adds something extra, with a more European electro feel and hints of a darker sound and rounds of the record perfectly.

Getting straight back into the stride they hit on 'Different Strokes', the duo land a double whammy of deeply swung grooves laced with airy Detroit influences.
Laying down the law with "Straight to the Source", the pair conjure up a cheeky homage to the garage influenced sounds of the late 90's. Featuring a full level of bass in your face, jacking beats and super catchy off kilter stabs - there's no mistaking a groove like this... they really do mean business.
On the flip they revisit 'Hypnotonic.' The "West Side Shuffle" version is similarly sparse in feel to the original, yet strikes a fresh balance as less pervasive percussion bounces around to tight rhythmic bass end pulses, dubbed up vocals and subtle effected tweaks. Continuing to capture a less frenzied moment, this new take will certainly please the heads down massive.
Review: Really love this album. This is probably some of Malcolm's best works, although it's hard to decipher as we like nearly everything he writes. As an album, it sounds like he's put everything he has into it, full of emotion and diversity. It's hard to say which track is our favorite but we are torn between Faithful Fearful and Regrets. Keep up the good work Malcolm as this is a masterpiece. Anyone who sleeps is missing out.

Nick has been instrumental in the deep house sound that developed in the 90's and his vast catalogue of remixes and original productions speaks for itself. We carefully selected these gems from the extensive DNH records catalogue to bring you "Nick Holder - Selected Works" All three tracks have been remastered.
"Love is blind" (DNH 50) leads off the EP with warm emotive pads, muted horns and a melancholy vocal sample. The B side continues with Blackman (DNH 49), another signature Holder track featuring an infectious call-to-action spoken word set over Nick's classic 4-to-the-floor drums. We round off the EP with "She likes it (remix)" (DNH 53) This track hits all the right places with its afro styled drums and female vocal/chant throughout.
Review: We are proud to present another debut on Axces Records, this time from label head Alfredo92. The A side kicks off with Mimis, an explorative bass driven track with crisp snares and bubbling synthesizers. Next up is the title track Helfand, whose experimental sounds and textures take things in a mystic IDM like direction. On the B side we Adax_pcp, a hypnotic club cut which further explores complex pulsating outernational rhythms. Finally to seal the deal we have Scalex, a twisted dancehall tune with splashes of futuristic sound design.
