Review: AKO welcome long-timer Madcap. Oxford-based and on the scene for a good 20 years, he's been slowly building up a powerful arsenal on the likes of Good Looking, Soul Deep, Fokuz and many more for the last 10+ years. With the backing of Stretch, on his fast-developing 10" label AKO 10, this is one of the biggest moves yet. "Out Of Reach" is big and breezy deep jungle, loaded with space for the pianos to smoulder and the echoed vocals to waft majestically in and out of the mix. Flip for "Sunshine Dub" where you'll feel you've heard it all before... In the best possible way. Don't sleep on this one, it's a cheeky one.

Review: Rising London newcomer and regular DJ at the legendary Rupture Decibella makes her debut on Stretch's AKO Beatz with two straight-up jugular-cutters. Both writhing in the dark art of break craft, these are straight up jungle jams tailored for the dance. "Outta London" is the most forthright track of the set with its heavily layered breaks and dynamic flips from soft to savage while "Be True" nods back to the hardcore era with its euphoric pads, classic rave vocal line and more drums that were carved straight from the leathery soles of the devil's dancing feet. Expect more noise from Decibella very very soon.

Review: Right in the midst of celebrating their 25th anniversary, Stretch's AKO Beatz drop two stunners from OG Colin Lindo. The man best known as Nubian Mindz and also Alpha Omega, here we find him in his lesser spotted De Elite guise with two brand new pieces of timelessness. 'Stargazers' is built around a spine-chilling arpeggio wile beautiful brushed drums shake around a warm subby bassline. Flip for 'Cerebral Junglist', where the atmospheres are similarly chilling but the breaks are chopped and re-woven within snares of their lives. Immense.

Review: AKO Beatz Music return with label chief DJ Stretch, teaming up with Italian producer Alessandro Corsini aka Enjoy as The Last Ronin. The mighty duo presents a soulful and life-affirming expression in intelligent jungle on the A side cut 'Fly Away' which is quite reminiscent of a certain classic by legend Goldie - it's your guess which one. On the flip, more dreamy liquid vibes await on the spiritual roller 'Don't Love' where slick Amens play centre stage beside breathtaking female vocals.

Review: Enigmatic Canadian producer Dodz last appeared in 2008 on a split EP with Finnish producer Fanu. On what is the second release for DJ Stretch's AKO Beatz this week, 'Watercolors' is jazzy and ethereal drum & bass on the more intelligent side of the spectrum. Unlike most other explorations in the genre thus, far this one really stands on its own - soothing, soulful and emotive. On the flip, we have the pitched down Amens of 'Simple', slowing down the aggression of those frantic drums into a mesmerising sense of freefall.
