Allein In Italien (1:16)
Review: Global Essence Sampler is a new series from Deep Inspiration Show Records that calls upon a fine roster of international producer talent to serve up one track each and reflect on what deep house is today. For Allstarr Motomusic the answer is smooth and cruising house grooves with elastic basslines and distant vocal wails. Barce explores classic Larry Heard-style cosmic melodic territory with plenty of star-gazing potential, and Zarenzeit's 'Zahara' is another one that floats amongst the stars with lush ambient pads. Jank offers a more dusty, rhythmic house sound for cosy backroom parties, and then come the jazzy melodies and soulful bass noodling of Jan Kincl's '3300 Gratiot Ave.' Magic stuff.

Body II (Body) (5:48)

Review: Make A Dance sub-label Make A Dance Edits is back with a second serving of red hot dance floor heaters from the eponymous production outfit. 'Body II Body' is all steamy vocals over a seductive deep disco/house beat with plenty of jazzy chords. It's a bobbing and feel good tune to tease any club. On the flip is 'Body II Dub' which is more leggy, with splashy cymbals and languid grooves disked to get deep under your skin and take you on a loved-up journey through deep house.

Review: Austrian label forTunea hits its quarter century with a tasteful 10" that comes hand numbered and is limited to just 300 copies, which are sure to fly as the grooves here are super sweet. Peletronic serves them up, starting with the busy and direct 'Sanguine' which is as bold optimistic as the title suggests. It has warm and rushing chords overlaid with vocal whoops to bring the emotion. 'Reflections' then has a more inward vibe with melancholic minor chords over a more loopy and less direct beat. It's still a house cut to make the floor take flight.

A Love Supreme Exodus (Ron Trent dub mix) (8:03)
A Love Supreme Exodus (Eqwel dub Bass mix) (6:01)
A Love Supreme Exodus (5:00)
Review: On paper, combining Coltrane jazz classic 'A Love Supreme' and Bob Marley's 'Exodus' in a Cuban jazz style seems like an odd idea, but as Joe Clausell and pianist Matt Jenson proved on their 2013 album as Rebel Tumbao, it's actually a genius one. For proof, check out the original mix, which is tucked away on the flipside of this belated remix EP. The real star attraction though is Ron Trent's A-side remix, which brilliantly re-images the track as a skanking chunk of slow-motion dub house complete with echoing vocal snippets, reverb-laden pianos and plenty of Latin and African style hand percussion. Eqwel's accompanying 'Dub Bass Mix', a more glitchy, electronic affair, is also well worth a listen.

Denominazione Version
Review: New York's Mister Saturday Night is one of a handful of labels that are genuinely capable of surprising us with each successive release (as their thrillingly eclectic forthcoming Brothers & Sisters compilation brilliantly proved). For example, who would have predicted that this first MSN 10" single (the first from sometime L.I.E.S man Gunnar Haslam) would open with two and a half minutes of dark, intense ambience and distant Middle Eastern singing? Elsewhere, Haslam inches further towards the dancefloor, retaining the dark and exotic feel on "Discouraged", before pummeLling us with discordant, delay-laden DJ tool "Denomiazione Version". Brilliantly left-of-centre stuff all round.

000 Baby (OM Unit remix) (6:17)
Review: After many years turning out 12"s, Klasse Wrecks has decided to serve up a first-ever 10" and they give the honour to Mr. Ho. His '000 Baby' is a delightfully widescreen sound - a post-rave mix of comedown electronics, dusty breakbeats and soothing ambient pads with some smart vocal samples drifting like wispy clouds. On the flipside, we're treated to and OM Unit remix that beefs things up and speeds up the drums. The percussion too is more defined and the energy levels ramped up with deft 808 bass and searching acidic leads. A nice yin to the A-side's yang.

Review: Firecracker boss and screen-printing don Lindsay Todd keeps looking far and wide for inspiration. Here, he's scratched beneath the surface to deliver a fine EP of skewed tropical synth-funk from Naples-raised, Mystic Tribe affiliate Fillipo Colonna Romano ALA Modula. Coming on like Prince jamming with Paul Simpson, Daniel Baldelli and fellow Italian synthesizer lovers Nu Guinea, the five tracks ripple with ricocheting, delay-laden drum hits, squeezable synth bass lines, humid electric guitars and the kind of kaleidoscopic synth solos that are capable of making grown men (and women, for that matter) go weak at the knees. It's a hugely vibrant, colourful and attractive affair that's undoubtedly amongst the best things Firecracker have released this year - and that's saying something.

Also renowned for his musical offerings as Black Jazz Consortium, the New York-bred, Berlin-based producer is accredited with over 100 releases, all instantly recognisable given their warmth, depth and modesty. The new 'Out All Night' EP tops up the roster, and is replete with shaky synth tremblings, underwater movements, and broken clap-drum assortments.

Review: These four oddball new beat tracks are perfect for those wanting to serve up some left of centre dance floor thrills. Opener 'Let's Dance' mangles a David Bowie sample into waves of glistening synths and silvery drum machine sounds that will swell any crowd. 'Quinz Lord' is a twisted technoid monster with spangled leads and machine-gun effects, and 'E-O' (with T Lavanchy) then goes a little deeper into early Chicago house territory with some well placed vocal samples adding the soul. 'I Love You,' as the title suggests, is a slightly more warm and heartfelt sound but still with plenty of prickly beats and raw perc.

Review: Brooklyn label Razor-N-Tape get in on the Record Store Day action with this 10" edition of Beatin Tha Breaks from Nashville-based Magic In Threes. It's the remixes that come first, with Dutch artist Fouk going into similar house territory to Kenny Dope with plenty of live instrumental touches blessing the bristling percussion. It's a totally different vibe on the Freddie Joachem remix, with the Californian opting for some midtempo funk breaks that stay closer to the sound of Magic In Threes' original version . This closes out the RSD release on the B-side and is an easy-breezy affair dripping with soulful guitars and harmonies.

Review: Last seen on the Tru Thoughts label back in 2011 with his debut LP Chapters, London based Masaaki Yoshida aka Anchorsong resurfaces on the like-minded BBE with the Mawa EP. The time out of the spotlight has evidently seen Yoshida expand on his production palette as the downtempo stylings of his Tru Thoughts output has been traded for something a lot more upbeat on the four tracks here. The lead track is a dizzying melange of sampled African chants and tape saturated percussion that's blessed with some abstract textural detail, whilst "Flamingos" features some excellent marimba manipulation and gives Jamie xx a run for his money in the emotive bass music stakes. The tempo gets thrusted upwards with "Ivory" though there is still a delicate feel to the overall production, whilst closing track "Mantra" sounds like Shangaan Electro gone UK house.

I Don't Feel (Deetron instrumental remix)
Review: An Aeroplane classic gets the Deetron treatment on the second limited edition 10" release from the Eskimo label. Originally released as part of Aeroplane's ambitious debut LP We Can't Fly, the Merry Clayton featuring "I Don't Feel" had never been remixed before the Swiss producer was invited to rework it as part of the exhaustive, multi disc ten year anniversary Eskimonde compilation from the seminal Belgian imprint. No doubt the track had previously remained untouched due to Clayton's powerful vocal turn which melded perfectly with Vito De Luca's rubbery Hi NRG production, but you can't fault the way that Deetron has reworked it, laying down an extended intro that burns with intensity before dropping a thumping, precision tooled beat. A previously unreleased Instrumental version adds some heat on the flip.

EverybodyEverybodyEverybody (6:36)
Review: Those who've studied the dance music that's emerged from San Francisco over the last three decades will happily tell you that it's invariably dubby, atmospheric, deep and sun-spleashed, with more than a few nods towards the city's psychedelic music heritage. It's this vibe that Eddie C has tapped into on his first outing for Bay Area imprint Lips & Rhythm. Check first A-side 'Infinite Wait', where drifting, delay-laden flute lines, spaced-out sonics and chiming, morning-fresh melodies ride a thickset bassline and rolling dub disco drums. The Canadian producer switches things up on pleasingly wild and intoxicating flipside cut 'EverybodyEveryBody', a TB-303 heavy slab of mid-tempo acid/electro/dub-disco fusion that's as trippy and eccentric as they come.

Review: Having launched in fine style with the crazed Moodymann meets Dance Mania genius of Bakey USTL, Firecracker's Unthank offshoot keeps the focus squarely on Eastern Europe with some equally fine productions from a more celebrated entity. If this year is going to be dedicated to anyone, Ukraine's favourite son must surely be on the list - treating our ears and your hips to a veritable bounty of expert releases on numerous labels of high repute - Dekmantel, 3rd Strike and Ethereal Sounds to name but three. Anyone who has indulged in just one of the aforementioned releases should need no prompting to check this ten inch - with Vakula drawing on a surfeit of influences such as AFX, Claro Intelecto and DBX across the three untitled tracks. The A Side is where the deepness lies whilst the flip contains an expansive deviation into subaqueous, stripped down, hypnotic minimalism. Don't be expecting "A Tender Place" Mk2 but do expect to be seriously impressed.

I Can Prove It (5:58)
Free Love (6:50)
Review: Chevals, who brilliantly describes himself as a "French house producer, disco cutter and horse", came to our attention last year via a fine debut on Better Listen. You'll find further proof of his "rising star" status on this tasty, two-track contribution to Kolour LTD's 10-inch series. Both tracks are essentially re-edits, though there are enough additional touches and new musical elements to elevate them way beyond your average scalpel re-arrangement. The Frenchman kicks thing off with "I Can Prove It", a gently tooled-up and reworked version of a soaring, glassy-eyed disco-soul gem that will sound fantastic at this summer's open-air events. Flipside "Free Love" is an altogether more low-slung affair, with a fizzing, funk-fuelled groove building towards a rush-inducing Philadelphia Soul-goes-disco-house conclusion.

Review: Leipzig's finest M Ono and Luveless are back on Houston via Detroit's Kolour with volume three of their new limited 10" series. Starting out with the deeply uplifting soulfulness of "Never Gonna Leave You 2K16" they are then into "Losing Memory" on the flip which gets more reduced, dubby and emotive, giving a nod to the kind of loopy deepness as heard on labels like Office or Slices Of Life. There really is something in the water out in Leipzig at the moment, great stuff!

Love's Got Me High (Marc Romboy Systematic Soul remix) (6:46)
Love's Got Me High (Jimpster remix) (6:36)
Review: A decade ago, Marc Romboy decided that he wanted to remix one of his favourite tunes, a 1995 cut by Terrence Parker as Seven Grand Housing Authority called 'Love's Got Me High'. He released his rework of the piano and organ-rich, gospel-influenced house track later the same year, pairing it with a similarly fresh Jimpster revision. You can enjoy both remixes on this ice-white vinyl reissue. Romboy's version is slower and even more emotionally resonant than Parker's original mixes, with hazy hand percussion and warming bass joining the Detroiter's vocals, organ and piano. Jimpster's take is chunkier, woozier and more hypnotic, with a lovely "soft-touch" feel and as much expansive musicality as you'd expect from the virtuoso musician turned deep house producer.

Mojoy (6:39)
Exotic Fruitz (6:55)
Review: Belgian producer UC Beatz lands on Masterworks with two impeccable deep house cuts that nod to the sterling reputation he enjoys within the scene. "Mojoy" is a simmering jam with that raw 'in the room' flavour you'd expect from Moodymann, a sweet vocal sample and a rhythm section that teases as much as it moves. When the chords drop, it's sure to sway the crowd without losing the intimacy set up in the track's earlier moments. "Exotic Fruitz" has a similar production style, and that background bar chatter is back again to fill the space with a cosy atmosphere, but here the keys are more forthright and vibing in the direction of sunnier climes.

Review: The latest artist to deliver a volume in digital download specialists Masterworks Music's occasional "Master Series" of vinyl EPs is Dirtytwo, a Scandinavian duo best-known for their releases on Local k and Razor 'N' Tape Reserve. A-side "Consensual" is a genuinely deep and immersive affair driven forwards by echoing electric piano stabs, hissing ride cymbals and addictive bass, all topped off by glassy-eyed vocal samples of what sounds like Motown legend Marvin Gaye. Flipside "Get Down & Get With It" is an altogether sweatier and sleazier affair, closer in tone to the pair's various loved-up and peak-time-ready singles on Local Talk. It's rather good, though we still prefer the tactile and huggable A-side.

On the A side "Honey Rider" sees the Dutch producer serve up a deep and slinky house cut, on the soulful and filtered tip. Some sexy synth work and boogie down vibes in full effect here. On the flip, we have got the low slung/slo-mo house of "Mr Scaramanga" which really brings the P-funk style to the max, accompanied by some dusty disco drums and spacey vibes for sexy times on the dancefloor.

Review: Following previous drops from Mr Stone, Pico and Professor Balthasar, the Odd Numbers label continues its march into cheeky-but-deep house music with this cool and deadly two-tracker from CAB. Atop the steady-trucking, funkified undercarriage of 'Poppa' there's a mellow mood which should sit right with the current wave of deep but uptempo club gear doing the rounds. 'Mischief' has a smoky demeanour and plenty of wigged-out sounds creeping through the folds of the mix, but it's still primed for the peak time floor where it counts. The Odd Numbers crew prove once again to be a safe bet for the classiest of contemporary house with brains and brawn in equal measure.
