Review: First things first: the world has come a long way in its attitude to women since this album was first released, so in 2019, 2001 sounds - at least lyrically - wrong on many levels. But it is also still very right when it comes to g-funk, west coast rap and second wave hip hop sounds. Listening to it from start to finish is to spend 90 minutes as a fly on the wall of the lives of Snoop, Dre, Eminem and all the rest of the high profile guests. Jam packed with classics and gold standards, this is an album of its time but one that was never bettered.

Review: J Cole's 2014 Forest Hills Drive will likely go down in history as one of 2010s hip-hop's most emotive albums. Through various forces, we'd contend it found itself on the iPods of anyone so much as remotely interested in exploring hip-hop beyond the pales of Kendrick Lamar, Drake or Eminem. It put Cole on the map for many young listeners: the virginity-loss classic 'Love Yourz' is the obvious go-to hit, but it doesn't represent the rest of the album, which mostly falls into the category of gushing and nostalgic. '03 Adolescence' and 'Apparently' are our highlights, with Cole indulging emotive jazz-piano interludes and pop-rap production tropes, with his rhymes always circling back to the album's core subject matters: home, childhood, wrong paths, memories.

Review: Few people can be said to be a true hip-hop head lest they've heard 2014 Forest Hills Drive by J. Cole. The heartfelt, orchestrally-tempered album was released way back in 2014 (duh) and hears the rapper sing and speak eloquently of his bittersweet coming-of-age - telling many stories of his first loves, his adolescent angst, and his intentional avoidance of the wrong paths. Now lovingly reissued just in time for its 10th Anniversary, we're glad to hear the LP that helped establish Cole's romantic, reminiscent side won't stay out of the limelight.

Review: 2Pac's final album released in his lifetime gets a lavish reissue treatment spread across four discs. All Eyez On Me was a landmark when it dropped - the first hip-hop double album released for mass consumption, and featuring a heavyweight cast of collaborators from Dr Dre and George Clinton to Snoop Dogg, Redman, Method Man, Nate Dogg and more. From the massive singles 'California Love' and 'I Ain't Mad Atcha' to the deeper album cuts, it's a milestone in hip-hop history from start to finish. Consider this the definitive version of one of the greatest, from one of the greatest.

Review: Beastie Boys Music is a new greatest hits compilation album that serves as a companion to 2020's Spike Jonze-directed Beastie Boys Story and 256-page photo book, Beastie Boys Book. The double vinyl affair takes in 20 classic tracks that span the iconic group's more than 30 year career, with the biggest of the big such as 'No Sleep', 'Sabotage' and 'Intergalactic' all making the cut. By now these are well worn classics, but their impact on rap cannot be overstated, and the tunes still get any party banging thanks to the immediacy of the beats and sharpness of the rhymes.

Review: Canadian singer The Weeknd has just been announced as the half time act for this year's Super Bowl, which is another crowning glory for an artist who has made a remarkable rise to the top. One of his early standout achievements was his Beauty Behind The Madness album, which is re-released here on its fifth anniversary. It was his sophomore long player and feature big guest like Ed Sheeran and Lana Del Ray which helped it debut at number one in several countries around the world. Filled with some harder truths than previous music yet with plenty of catchy hooks and singalong choruses, it prove The Weeknd was more versatile than people thought.

British singer-songwriter JP Cooper plus Jamaican born and Birmingham based soul, gospel and R&B legend Ruby Turner also featured.

Review: Cruising the slipstream of Black Messiah, D'Angelo's debut album gets a timely reissue 20 years after its release. The neo-soul foundations dig deep with every nuance and subtlety D'Angelo has become known for; the Gaye-level harmonies of "Crusin'", the jazz meanders of "Sh*t Damn Motherf*ker" and the unstoppably sexual drive of "Lady"... If this isn't in your collection already, now is most definitely the time.

Review: Every Steely Dan album is a world within itself - part of a broader galaxy of planets that share the same energy source, but ultimately unique and never interchangeable. Can't Buy A Thrill was the very beginning of Donald Fagen and Walter Becker's revered project, fabled for its exacting studio prowess and ruthless commitment to perfection. There's immediacy to the likes of stone-cold pop classics 'Do It Again' and 'Reelin' In The Years', but this is still sublime and subversive music from a band who flew out of the gate fully realised. Now the album has been given a shiny fresh pressing so if you don't own it already, this is the time.

Review: If only we knew then what we do now. Few times does the phrase feel more appropriate than when discussing R.E.M.'s debut EP - you didn't buy it in 1982, and now original pressings are likely to fetch a sum. Still, we can't all be winners, although any astute ears should have quickly picked up on the potential of these then-unknowns.

Following first single Radio Free Europe, Chronic Town, which comprises five tracks of ever-so-slightly-weird, jangling, up-tempo alternative indie rock 'n' roll packing post punk sentiments, set the stage for the band's most glorious days that ensued. Landing in 1982 on I.R.S. Records, the troupe would stay with the label for some of their most critically acclaimed landmark albums, and for many it's this era and sound that best explain the greatness of a crew known for reinvention and listlessness.

Review: Roxy Music's fourth and most phase-heavy album 'Country Life' now gets a half-speed reissue by Miles Showell at Abbey Road Studios, as part of a brand new effort to have every one of their albums repressed in their utmost quality, and repackaged in glossy new covers. Career highlight songs like 'Out Of The Blue', 'Prairie Rose' and 'All I Want Is You' sound better than ever here, doing justice to its comparatively pessimistic sound. It's still got that Bryan Ferry-ish, romantic aristocratic vibe, though!

Review: Named after dazzle camouflage, an approach to painting naval vessels in ways that would make it difficult for them to be targeted with the naked eye (used extensively in World War I, less so in World War II), OMD's fourth studio album also arrived on Telegraph, an imprint that never existed and was instead a fictitious platform backed by Virgin Records. There's no mistaking the fact this is Orchestral Manoeuvres In The Dark, though, with the tracks here defining the band perfectly.
By that, we mean grand, epic overtures, a strange - at the time, groundbreaking - hybrid of electronic synth stuff with classical, Neo-operatics and rock & roll. It's evocative, immediately captivating and very difficult to make many assumptions about, with techniques such as sampling, looping and layering employed to incredible effect, without overshadowing the song craft itself. Which, it's safe to say, is approaching their artistic peak at this point.

Let's Be Friends (4:14)
Free Your Soul (feat Dave Koz & Jose Antonio Rodriguez) (5:27)
Review: Recorded at home in Ringo Starr's Roccobella West studio, the former Beatles drummer has drafted a number of long-term partners in crime for his latest release. Those names include Steve Lukather, Linda Perry, Fave Coz, Jose Antonio Rodriguez, and Bruce Sugar, among others. But, ingredients aside, what's the end result actually like?

Well, for one thing, it feels like a record made with camaraderie. The appropriately-titled 'Everyone & Everything' has a definite Fab Four vibe to its outro, requesting that all in earshot get involved in a chorus designed to get everyone and everything singing along. 'Let's Be Friends' takes that atmosphere to the after party, "Ya, ya, ya, ya" vocal hook making the whole thing sound slightly madcap. Meanwhile, closer 'Free Your Soul' invites us into smoother and sexier surrounds via sax and tropical beats.

Review: Frankie Goes To Hollywood - was there ever a group who created such a phenomenon and fell apart so soon afterwards? The seismic shockwave created by 'Relax' resounds eternally through pop culture, from the provocative video to the throbbing proto house production. Alas, the success dissolved the band before they could build on their undeniable talent, but there's still a rich trove of classic songs and more than enough alternative mixes to fill out this definitive three-disc collection. Alongside the hits there are tunes which will be enlightening even to long time devotees of the group.

Review: "What's a girl like you, doing in a place like this?" Zappa croons with audible debauchery as 'The Mud Shark' falls effortlessly into 'What Kind of a Girl Do You Think We Are', making it clear that Fillmore East: June 1971 is the kind of live album that quickly makes you feel as though you're right there front and centre watching this rock 'n' roll icon delivering his legendary live show.

But there's much more here than simply a recording from a gig. The record is as much a concept album as anything else, offering a skew-eyed look at the life of a guitar outfit on the road, spinning yarns about - among other things - staying in a motel where guests can fish directly from their room, 'negotiating' sex with groupies and girlfriends, essentially representing the tongue-in-cheek, satirising Zappa in all his glory.

Produced by Dennis Bovell and LKJ, this is a staunchly British dub poetry classic, with every track, from 'Want Fi Goh Rave' through to 'Time Come' charting Johnson's lifelong grapple with meaning, resistance and revolution in his distinctive reality-checking patois.

Review: Though he was already in our top 10, 'Foreverandevernomore' might just be the album that makes Brian Eno one of electronic music's top 5 greats. Reflecting on the conundrum that is Earth's increasingly precarious climate, it for the first time ever features Eno singing on nearly every one of the featuring 10 tracks. Briefly, we need to fall in love again, but this time with Nature, with Civilization and with our hopes for the future, opines Eno. The sonic manifestation of this is a blue, metallic drone album that pits influences as far back as Greek mythology against those as modern as aviation, sonically reconciling old and new.

Review: American hard rock band Guns N Roses are one of the most iconic to ever do it. Their Greatest Hits album is jam packed with smash hit after smash hit. Released by Geffen Records in part because of the delay in the making of Chinese Democracy, it came in 2004 amidst some infamous legal challenges from Axl Rose and former band members who weren't too pleased with its tracklisting. It got no promotion as a result but still topped the UK Albums Chart and no wonder with 'Sweet Child O Mine', 'Welcome to the Jungle' and 'Paradise City' all featuring amongst plenty more.

Review: It has been said before that Polly Jean Harvey's 1998 album, Is This Desire, marked a watershed moment in her career. A veritable coming of age record that failed to match the commercial heights of To Bring You My Love, but was actually a far more complete and personal thing. Less angry than preceding efforts, it painted a more balanced and accurate portrait of an artist whose formative years were pockmarked with media analysis and criticism of her visible powerful attributes - sexuality and fury.

Coupled with the fact that Harvey has never been one to pander to scenes in the hope of top ten chart success, and you can only imagine how happy she was with the finished product. And all this is before we start banging on about the musicality, from title track's subtle, hushed baritone blues to the garage rock-out of 'A Perfect Day Elise'.

Review: Much has changed for Kelis since the release of her debut album "Kaleidoscope" 20 years ago - see her albums on Ninja Tune and a surprise recent appearance on bizarre variety show "The Masked Singer" - but the album itself remains a turn-of-the-millennium classic. Here reissued in expanded form to celebrate its 20th birthday, the Neptunes-produced set sparkles just as much as it did way back in 2000. For proof, check the still-familiar, acoustic guitar-sporting bump of "Caught out There" (complete with famous "I hate you so much right now" refrain"), the R&B perfection of "Get Along With You" and the dancefloor-friendly disco-pop of "Good Stuff".

Review: Hot on the heels of new album "After Hours", UMC has decided to deliver a fresh vinyl reissue of The Weeknd's 2013 debut studio album "Kiss Land". While the Canadian R&B singer was already a rising star when it was initially released, the DannyBoyStyles produced album shot him towards superstardom thanks to its blend of sassy, emotive vocals, crunchy beats and synthesizer sounds heavily influenced by the soundtracks to 1980s sci-fi and horror films. Many of the songs remain familiar because it spawned a high number of singles - think "Belong To The World", "Live For", "Wanderlust" etc. - but even those that didn't get much MTV play are surprisingly strong.

Review: La Roux burst into the public consciousness in 2009 with their self-titled debut album. It spoke of a duo who were already fully-formed, capable of writing and recording pristine pop gems to last a lifetime, and now, 13 years later, the proof is there for anyone to hear. Whether you're a Netflix surfer or spend all your time online, you will have heard at least four of the songs from this album being rinsed across advertising, TV and film. 'In For The Kill' is the consummate breakthrough single, instantly memorable and steeped in emotional heft, while 'Bulletproof' continues to be a rallying cry of empowerment. Relive this invincible album from start to finish thanks to a reissue from UMC.

Review: Polly Jean Harvey broke into the common conscious with her unique and individual approach to alternative rock, and she's managed to maintain that aural autonomy throughout a storied career that has simultaneously found favour in the musical mainstream and refused to stray far from the leftfield. A difficult balance to strike, this, her eighth solo studio album, is indicative of that point. There's nothing here not to enjoy, but there's very little here you could predict.

Not least given where it sits in her back catalogue. Production began as the seminal but decidedly hushed White Chalk was released, and this record couldn't be more different from the preceding LP. Doing away with introspect, for the most part anyway, and refocusing attention away from pianos, it's a rousing indie collection that further cements the artist as one of Britain's national treasures.

Review: Marking the 15th anniversary of Amy Winehouse's live performance at Glastonbury in 2007, the full set recording is now available on vinyl to purchase. Greatest hits in the late Camden-native's catalogue played live with a 6 piece band, 16 classics like 'Tears dry on their own' and 'Back to black' from her 2 albums are pressed on this double LP. The latter performance being watched on YouTube almost 8 million times, the raw vocals are incredible and a reminder of what made Amy Winehouse the legend that she is. This record is an indisputable must-have for collectors this year.

Review: The clue is in the name, as the vital resurgence of jazz in the UK capital coalesces into this supergroup project featuring a dizzying cast of talent. When names like Nubya Garcia, Shabaka Hutchings, Theon Cross and Benji B are all thrown into the mix, you know this is something to pay attention to. The group was first pulled together by producers Martin Terefe and Bruce Lampcov for a series of gigs across Europe, but scuppered by the pandemic they instead hunkered down in the studio for sessions inspired by Miles Davis' iconic Bitches Brew. The results are as brilliant as you would expect.

Review: It's official: UK Jazz's uptick in popularity over the last decade has now led to supergroups being materminded by industry heads. This one was conceived by producers Martin Terefe and Bruce Lampcov; London Brew is the collective project of over a dozen jazz musicians including Nubya Garcia, Raven Bush, Theon Cross, Dan See and Benji B, and aims to reflect the Londoner's complex, overwhelming yet somehow experience of the city. The sense of sudden immersion on this album quite clearly reflects its intention to evoke the feeling of returning to 'normality' post-lockdown, prior to which most of its main recordings were laid down.

The vinyl version of the release was extremely limited and, as a result, original copies can go for hundreds on resale. Faithfully to the original, 'Love Songs' is now available on 2XLP fully remastered - a much-needed reintroduction for both the vinyl economy and fans who missed out all those years ago.

Review: Since the glorious synth pop years of Japan, David Sylvian has journeyed into many other realms as a musician. The experimental nature of his formative band set the tone for a career of genuine intrigue, demonstrated wonderfully on this compelling album from 2009, reissued as a double vinyl release to foil some astronomical second hand prices. Manafon centres around pieces of free improvisation, experimental rock and chamber music, with Sylvian's eloquent voice guiding your ear through all manner of fascinating soundscapes and story scenes. With contributors including Christian Fennesz, Evan Parker, Keith Rowe and Toshimaru Nakamura, this is a widely hailed piece of leftfield art that ranks as one of the brightest jewels in Sylvian's glittering career.

Review: First released in 1998, the last album from the sadly missed Mark Hollis was originally set to be a Talk Talk album, scheduled to follow up 1991's "Laughing Stock". Described by engineer Phil Brown as "open, restful and at times fantastically beautiful", Hollis' only solo effort is quite the opposite of the dark and claustrophobic direction of Talk Talk's final album. Entirely self-produced, the record takes Talk Talk's pared back, emotive intimacy further into yet more minimal, private territory, of sometimes almost unbearable intensity. A complex, compelling last dispatch from an indisputable genius.

Review: Way back in 1998 when Massive Attack's career-defining "Mezzanine" was first released, legendary dub technician Mad Professor cooked up some radical reworking. They now get their first official release alongside dubs of two tracks that never actually made it onto the album - Metal Banshee: a dub version of "Superpredators" which was a cover of Siouxsie and the Banshees' "Metal Postcard", and "Wire", which was actually recorded for the film "Welcome to Sarajevo". Wild effects, plenty of knob twiddling and oodles of reverb define this freaky late night collection and mark another essential release in the catalogue of the already legendary Mad Professor.

Review: When he released third album "Me Against The World" in 1995, Tupac Shakur was arguably the biggest name in hip-hop. As we now know, it wouldn't last, with the LA rapper losing his life in a drive-by shooting 12 months later. As tragic as his demise was, his music still resonates and this album - here reissued to celebrate its 25th anniversary - is arguably the best of the lot. Produced by an all-star cast of beat-makers (Brian G, Easy Mo Bee, Tony Pizarro and Moe ZMD included), the set offered a glossy and polished take on the then dominant gangster rap style while including numerous nods to R&B, swing and G-funk. If you don't already own a copy, grab one of these pronto.

Review: Two decades have passed since Massive Attack signaled a new stage in their career with the dark, paranoid and claustrophobic brilliance of "Mezzanine", their third studio album. Given the current global political climate, it arguably sounds even more relevant 20 years after it first hit stores. This time round, the re-mastered original set comes accompanied by something none of us have heard before: Mad Professor's complete dub translation, which was slated for release around the turn of the Millennium but for one reason or another never came out. Like his take on "No Protection", it's an inspired set of revisions that takes 3D and Daddy G's dense and red-eyed originals into wild new bass-heavy places. Even if you own the original version already, it's well worth picking up this special edition just for that alone.

Review: The brilliantly ironically titled Money For Nothing album from Dire Straits was their great hits album from back in 1998. It came off the back of their hugely success 1985 long player Brotehrs in Arms and featured plenty of tracks from that record as well as the four others before that. 'Sultans of Swing', 'Romeo and Juliet', 'Private Investigations' and three of the five singles from 'Brothers in Arms' all feature and this special vinyl edition also has 'Telegraph Road (Live Remix)' which in the past was only issued on CD. 'Portobello Belle (Live)' is here too as a brand new mix.

Review: It's hard to underestimate the impact of Nirvana's second studio album, Nevermind, when it first hit stores 30 years ago. A more polished - but still beautifully scuzzy - set than its predecessor, the album turned the Seattle band into worldwide stars and made grunge indie-rock's most talked about sub-genre. This 30th anniversary edition presents the original album in freshly remastered form. As a result, classics such as 'Smells Like Teen Spirit', 'Come as You Are' and 'Drain You' sound fresher and heavier than ever. This time round, there's also a second bonus disc made up of live recordings of Nirvana in action in Tokyo, Melbourne, Amsterdam and California during 1991 and '92.

Review: Given that the concept of the 12" version was born during the mid-to-late 1970s, it seems fitting that this four-disc trawl through extended mixes of the era leans heavily on classic disco cuts. Of course, there are some genuine must-haves among the DJ-friendly disco extensions on offer, not least Elton John's Philly Soul anthem 'Are You Ready For Love', Cerrone's 'Supernature', Dan Hartman's 'Relight My Fire' and Diana Ross's epic 'Love Hangover'. Throw in a smattering of post-punk and new wave gems, plus arguably the greatest end-of-night anthem of all, Wings' 'Goodnight Tonight' (the extended version of which gets brilliantly dubbed-out in the middle and is far superior to the seven-inch mix) and you have a rock-solid collection of club-ready '70s sing-alongs.

Review: Iconic punk outfit Siouxsie and the Banshees were already a big deal by the time 1981 came around. That's likely the reason they decided to put out this compilation album featuring all their UK single releases up to that point. Several of them had not been on any album by then despite them clocking up four long players already. Amazingly, 'Once Upon a Time/The Singles' spent a total of twenty-six weeks in the UK albums chart and is still to this day a cohesive overview of their early sound and subtle evolution.

Review: There are a few Beastie Boys reissue projects in the works at the moment, but none will be more popular than this 30th anniversary edition of one of the band's best. After their experimental mini-album "Roots Down", "Paul's Boutique" is composed, vocals aside, almost entirely of samples all put together in Matt Dike's apartment and the Record Plant in Los Angeles from 1988 to 1989. It marked the moment they were taken seriously, became hip hop giants and broke free of their one hit wonder tag. Its retro style and gleeful misuse of samples was thrillingly original yet familiar and despite the myriad of sounds, scenes and styles drawn upon, somehow they all added up to make this a cohesive album.

Review: The seventh full-length from Sarah Jarosz, Polaroid Lovers is an album-long meditation on those strangely ephemeral moments that indelibly shape our lives. "What I love about a Polaroid is that it's capturing something so fleeting, but at the same time it makes that moment last forever," says the Texas-born singer/songwriter/multi-instrumentalist. Thanks to the rarefied alchemy that infuses all of Jarosz's output - her finely wrought lyricism, ravishing vocal work, virtuosic yet unfettered musicality - Polaroid Lovers performs the much-needed magic of leading us toward a heightened sense of presence, all while casting a lovely spell with her timelessly powerful songs. Produced by Daniel Tashian at the legendary Sound Emporium, Polaroid Lovers took shape as Jarosz recorded live with musicians like guitarist Rob McNelley, Tom Bukovac on guitar and organ, her husband bassist Jeff Picker, and drummer Fred Eltringham, carving out a viscerally potent but resplendent brand of folk-rock.

Review: There was never any doubt back in 2001 that Kings of Convenience had real talent. The Norwegian folk-pop duo made no secret of their remit when they unveiled their debut album, which comes with a truly appropriate, spoiler-alert-worthy title. Erlend Oye and Eirik Glambek Boe are so soft and gentile, in fact, that the main criticism here is arguably the ease with which Quiet Is the New Loud can float calmly into the background of a situation.

Commit your full attention, though, and you realise what a triumph it was. And still is. Inspired by the likes of Simon & Garfunkel, Belle & Sebastian, and Elliott Smith, this record became something of a centrepiece for an entire musical movement (see also: Turin Brakes) which even borrowed the name. Dive into the catalyst again, then. We promise you won't regret it.

Review: Fresh from the first two successful singles of his solo career, Billy Idol was one of the most recognisable faces in the early 80s, with his popularity rising in tandem with the rise of the music video thanks to MTV. The follow up album to his eponymous debut, Rebel Yell would prove to be his most successful and the most critically acclaimed of his career, with hits coming out of its ears. 'Eyes Without A Face', 'Flesh For Fantasy', 'Catch My Fall' and the title track 'Rebel Yell' all helped to make one of the highest selling records of 1982, making Billy a household name. Musically, Rebel Yell is a new wave album with hard rock and other influences. Steve Stevens powerful guitar riffs that helped fuel Billy Idol's singing were a match made in heaven. Ironically, the album also broke barriers as being a rock album powered by a drum machine - setting a trend that ZZ Top, Iggy Pop and even Judas Priest would follow in subsequent years. This version, spread across two LPs, comes with the original album plus a a few demo versions as well as a remix to 'Eyes Without A Face'. Whether you have an original copy or not, this version is the ideal one to get.

Review: Root Down is an experimental album from 1994 when The Beastie Boys locked themselves in a rehearsal space and went to town on studio experimentation and live jamming. It came between "Paul's Boutique" and "Check Your Head" and resulted in two previously unreleased versions of the title track and snippets of music recorded while on tour in Europe. There is the typical Beastie Boys mix of floor rocking riffs but with funky new flows stitched in and thus charts the period in which the band went from their post punk guitar roots to a more new-groove driven sound.

Review: When Roxy Music made their debut in 1972, they were a breath of fresh air in the rock music world. They had sharp angles and arch ideas which brought post-modernism into the relatively conservative realm of guitar music, leaving space for wild solos and mind-bending sound effects from Brian Eno. They shook up the firmament and showed scores of other artists that followed it was possible to disrupt the norms and take chances without losing the kick ass element of rock - just listen to the fierce impact of opening track 'Re-Make / Re-Model' if you need further proof.

Review: John Mellencamp's 1985 album Scarecrow gets a fearsome remixing, remastering and reissuing. It's the LP responsible for such hits as 'Rock In The USA', 'Small Town' and 'Lonely Ol' Night', and was widely plugged as one of the 100 greatest albums of the 1980s. With Mellencamp crooning away in a lamentatory fashion, he mourns the death of the American dream in the face of corporate greed, harkening back to a time hardly any of us new music listeners now know; when country and rock music weren't just consumable slices of entertainment.

On the occasion of its 30th anniversary it gets a special deluxe reissue treatment with audio taken from the original sessions. The new collection features no fewer than five unreleased songs including 'Charming Mess' and some special studio recording covers of Humble Pie's '30 Days In The Hole' and John Lennon's 'Jealous Guy.' Two further, never-before-heard demos also make the cut, all with liner notes by David Fricke.

Review: Back when the Space Girls burst onto the scene they very much upset older more conservative adults who were terrified by Girl Power and scant outfits. Looking back now it all seems so very tame compared to what the youth of the day are subject to by everyone from Katy Perry to Cardi B. Spiceworld was their second studio album and came in November 1997 and so gets a 25th-anniversary reissue. The tunes hold up as delightfully innocent pop nuggets with classic like 'Spice Up Your Life' and 'Stop' all sure to get you going.

Review: The Courteeners mark a decade and a half since their landmark debut album St Jude with this new reissue across several different formats. As well as including all the original tracks from the album as it was back then, this version also has a brand new single 'It'll Take More Than A Weekend Away To Fix This Mess'. The tune was actually written at the same time as the album and was recently recorded in Manchester. The album hit number four in the album charts back in 2008 and contained three Top 40 singles, 'Not Nineteen Forever,' 'What Took You So Long?' and 'No You Didn't, No You Don't.'

Review: St. Jude is known as the Christian patron saint of lost causes, which is ironic, because The Courteeners' musical career over the years has been anything but. This reissue celebrates the 15th Anniversary of the Mancunian band's debut album, and features an exclusive crock of more recent recordings made in L.A. Festival-ready indie pop is clearly set to make a comeback.

Review: Over the last 12 months, Polly Jean Harvey has delivered remastered versions of many of her most acclaimed albums, while also releasing collections of demo recordings for each set. The latest to get this treatment is her critically acclaimed set Stories From The City, Stories From The Sea. Famously, most of the songs focus on love and relationships and were written while Harvey was living in New York City at the tail end of the '90s. As with her other collections of demos, most of the early versions showcased here feature little more than Harvey on guitar and lone or multi-tracked vocals. This raw and stripped-back approach gives new life to some songs, with highlights including the heart-aching 'The Mess We're In' and fuzz-soaked 'This Is Love'.

Review: It seems fitting that the Temptations are marking an astonishing 60 years in the business with a new album whose most impactful track, 'When We Were Kings', is a gorgeously nostalgic, loved-up telling of their own history. It's fitting, too, that the set is largely classic in sound (the hip-hop soul style opener excepted), mixing elements of 1960s, '70s. '80s and '90s soul, and that the now octogenarian group are still capable of belting out vocals as sweetly and soulfully as they did back in the day. There are plenty of other nods to their lengthy history dotted across the album, too, including a song recorded with Motown contemporary Smokey Robinson and an updated version of 'Come On', a song some of their members first recorded way back in 1959.
