Introducing the WMD Phase Displacement Oscillator (PDO). This hybrid VCO has all the feel of an analog VCO but with the benefits of digital waveshaping. The PDO will easily find a home in your system!

The PDO exists to utilize the phenomenon of Phase Modulation (PM). This allows for the relative phase difference of its outputs to be set or modulated, producing very interesting sounds. The result is similar to Frequency Modulation (FM) but affects the output to a greater degree without affecting the stability of the initial frequency. This is where the "displacement" comes in.

When you use frequency stable phase displacement, you create phase distortion which sounds like wavefolding and is very useful for dynamic textures and powerful sounds.

PM has the same benefits of quadrature filters/sine wave generators and greatly exceeds their capabilities at audio rate modulations. PM is highly useful for for creating metallic and bell tones and very controlled harmonic interactions.

Because PM affects the relative phase and not the frequency of the waveform generated, the PDO can self modulate its PM inputs. This creates complex harmonic signals that seem to vary in frequency but are quite stable.

Phase Modulation is also quite powerful when using the PDO as an LFO. Adjusting the relative phase of each output allows for very precise modulation of other modules. Each output can have any of the available waveforms simultaneously. There is a myriad of modulation possible with the PDO!

Notes: The Serge GTO is a newly designed, complex multi-functional module which can be patch programmed to provide various slew and sample functions both for audio and CV signals, but also act as a (dual) oscillator or filter or bitcrusher or ... It is one of the essential Serge modules. The GTO is an offspring of the famous Serge SSG.

The Smooth section will place a positive and negative slew on input voltage transitions for lag effects, voltage controlled portamento and for low frequency filter applications. In Cycle-mode (cycle jack patched to the input), the Smooth side “will oscillate yielding a voltage controlled triangle wave LFO. A high level into the HOLD input will enable the Smooth Function to be used as a track-and-hold circuit with voltage controlled slew rate.

The Stepped function can be used as a sample-and-hold with voltage controlled slew rate limiting. In Cycle mode, a pulse applied to the Sample input will generate complex staircase waveforms for control voltage applications and for use as audio signals.

Each side has a temperature-compensated 1V/Oct input for use as an oscillator with a frequency range of up to 20kHz (left) and 8kHz (right). Each side tracks over 5 or 6 octaves.

The Coupler is an internal comparator which compares the output levels of the Smooth and the Stepped Generators. This output is useful for generating complex control voltages or random voltages.

Notes: The CubuSynth Engine V2 is their updated dual analogue VCO with wave shaping functions, internal modulations and a chaos generator. It is based around the 3340 chip and features 4 Waveforms + Wavefolder per VCO and 4 Modulated Outputs, all simultaneously.

Why Choose Parametric EQ over Graphic EQ?
Parametric VS Graphic EQ Graph
Graphic equalizers provide a convenient visual sense of the EQ curve. However, there is a tradeoff in transparency and precision.

The graph here shows the ParaEq MKII Deluxe (cyan) and a 7-band graphic EQ pedal (magenta) both providing a +4dB boost at around 2 kHz. As can be seen, the ParaEq is much more precise in the changes it can make, whereas the graphic EQ affects nearly the entire frequency spectrum. Furthermore, at around 10kHz the ParaEq is providing unity gain, whereas the graphic EQ is attenuating the signal by nearly 6dB. This makes the ParaEq a more transparent circuit than the graphic EQ.

This combination of transparency and precision is why recording studio control rooms are dominated by parametric equalizers, and why they're a great choice for creative and corrective EQ on your pedalboard.

Oscillator 1 (OSC1) gives you a total of 7 types of oscillator algorithm to choose from, including formant waveforms such as human voice, and PCM/DWGS waveforms for vintage keyboard and strings. It also lets you use techniques that cannot be imitated on typical PCM synthesizers, such as cross modulation, unison, and VPM (Variable Phase Modulation). By taking advantage of modulation (sync or ring) with oscillator 2 (OSC2), it's easy to create complex and powerful sounds.

The microKORG XL+ can function as a powerful vocoder that lets you connect a mic and use its audio input to shape the tonal character of the oscillator's sound to create talking effects. The vocoder consists of a 16-band filter bank that can simulate the vocoder sounds of the past and also shift the filter frequencies (Format Shift function) or adjust the level and pan of each band to dramatically change the sonic character. Using the Vocoder is an easy way to add sounds that can be found in today's popular electronic music. Since a gooseneck microphone is included, you can immediately start using thevocoder in your songs.

2 master effects utilize the effect engine that was brought to perfection in Korg's Kaoss Pad series, giving you a total of 17 powerful effect types including delay and echo effects as well as dramatic effects such as ring modulator and grain shifter. In addition, effects such as delay can be synchronized to MIDI clock for a wide range of possibilities in live performance.

Notes: Clouds, the granular synthesis module from Mutable Instruments, was discontinued in 2017. Supercell brings back Clouds in a more accessible 34 hp form factor, offering an improved user interface and several additional features:

- Each of the Blend parameters (Feedback, Panning, Mix, and Space) have dedicated knobs with their own CV inputs and inverting attenuators (attenuverters).

- The inputs and outputs now have mute switches, stereo VCAs, and separate VU meters. The knobs act as offset controls when their respective VCA inputs are patched.

- A stereo output gain control has been added, providing an additional +6 dB of gain to compensate for low output levels when using certain parameter combinations.

- The complex process of changing the sampling time and managing presets has been simplified with dedicated switches and status LEDs.

- Extensive modulation options for all parameters including direct patching of external CV, distribution of one CV to all parameters via the AUX input, or an internal smooth random CV that is normalized to any unpatched inputs when AUX is also unpatched. The attenuverters control the modulation depth in all three cases. As of firmware v1.01 the internal modulation rate can be adjusted within a range of 1 to 100 Hz.

- The inputs and outputs now include stereo VCAs and separate VU meters. The knobs act as offset controls when their respective VCA inputs are patched.

- Pitch is now controlled by two separate inputs: the V/Oct input is exponential and the Pitch input is linear. When both inputs are used, their voltages are summed.

- A manual Trig switch (for capturing individual grains) has been added, in addition to the Trig input that was present on Clouds.

All other features of the original Clouds remain intact, including access to the alternate modes. Thanks to Olivier Gillet for making the original Clouds hardware and firmware available under open-source licenses. Third-party firmware such as Parasites (by Matthias Puech) and Beat Repeat (by Julius Kammerl) will be supported in future firmware updates after the initial release of the module.

Great modern cases

The ALM powered Eurorack case was originally designed for the System Coupe. Wider interest has seen it evolve into a range of different sized cases being made available by themselves.

A fixed solid bus board provides quality ample power and plentiful keyed power connectors. The shielded DC/DC power converter is low noise and includes overload and short circuit protection. Fixed, quality mounting rails are used over sometimes frustrating sliding nuts. The case has a great looking all anodised aluminium construction that is both strong and light.

The case proportions are designed to look great on a table or desk (not too deep, just enough) and also be easy to fit in a bag and transport.

By digitally controlling the chorus delay time, the Bees have created Harmochorus - a never-before-heard pitch shifting modulation that can certainly inspire new genres.

Three Chorus modes provide the classic, lush chorus and vibe sounds we all love, with each mode offering the ability to control the effect in different ways. Vary between two different speeds and/or depths, go from zero to full depth intensity, or even increase the chorus delay time for a whole new spectrum of sounds.

Three Harmochorus modes give you a unique and inspiring new approach to the effect. The easiest way to explain it's that, when clean, it sounds like angel bees are accompanying you, and when paired with some buzz, it sounds like a swarm of killer bees producing the most dangerous pitch shifting modulation are after you! For ever since this high-quality synthesizer developer discontinued its original rack-mountable Pulse and Pulse+ programmable analogue monosynths boasting ballsy bass tones and legendary leads beyond compare, those Nineties electronic musicdominating sounds have been severely sought after by those in the know. Which was exactly what drove us into development overdrive to produce an all-new Pulse fit for the 21st Century.

As an all-new, all-analogue synthesizer design, Pulse 2 flawlessly delivers exactly what synth connoisseurs around the world have been truly craving for quite some time - three analogue oscillators living in perfect harmony with a VCF (VoltageControlled Filter), yet we did not stop there: the fresh filter circuits in the Pulse 2 now offer 12dB Highpass and Bandpass modes in addition to 24dB/12dB Lowpass for strengthened sound-sculpting flexibility, while we added analogue Filter FM, two Overdrive circuits, and Ring Modulation from OSC 3, together with Paraphonic and Unison modes allowing up to eight-voice chords - a fantastic feature found on our recently-released Rocket Synthesizer.

Connectivity comes well catered for courtesy of USB, MIDI In, MIDI Out, Ext In (external analogue signal input), line OUT, and headphone output - not forgetting, of course, CV Out (supporting both the V/octave and Hz/V standards) and Gate Out (V-Trigger- and S-Trigger-compatible), allowing a myriad of suitably equipped older (or newer) synths to be connected to the Pulse 2 to mirror whatever MIDI 'note' information is being played by the Pulse 2, including the output of its powerful ARP (arpeggiator). Notes: The module is built around high quality VCA chips from THAT Corp, as well as low noise opamps. It offers clickless muting and equal loudness panning. The distinct feature is that voltage control is dynamically compressed should it yield clipping when pushed too hard. Also, in both modes the attenuators offer full closing of the corresponding channel, regardless of being controlled by the CV, or not. The modules included in UTILITIES can be divided into two groups:
1) Passive elements such as switches, resistors, capacitors.

Passive elements are designed to expand the possibilities of switching and controlling the PULSAR.

Linear amplifiers are needed when you need to feed a signal from a device operating in a lower voltage format to the PULSAR inputs. Or it could be the output of a cassette tape recorder, which has an output of 1 volt, while for normal operation the PULSAR needs an input level of an audio signal of 5 volts. The Trigger Riot is a multipurpose trigger module that makes ultra complex patterns of gates triggers and clock pulses. The Riot covers a lot of ground in any Eurorack system from the master clocking for your entire system to algorithmic generation of pulses for envelopes, step sequencers, drums and accents that can venture into highly complex territory driven by simple yet powerful logic and algebra with a dash of pseudo randomness for some unpredictable results.

The user interface allows a great deal of control over pulses with each knob acting as a clock divider, clock multiplier, step injector, time shifter, clock shifter, pulse-width modulator, and an arithmetic probability processor. Now take that control and multiply it by 16 and feed it into 8 outputs for maximum Trigger Riot madness!

Furthermore the interface features a master clock knob, push switches to mute unmute and select rows, and multiple switches to configure, adjust, create loops and save your work for later recall from memory banks.

Trigger Riot integrates nicely in the studio with non-volatile memory, generous synchronization options with external gear including sample accurate sync with DAWs, smart synchronization to other Tiptop modules using SyncBus, and DIN Sync for vintage gear. Korg has collaborated with popular plugin developer "Sinevibes" to create a brand new synth plugin for Drumlogue: Nano. This exclusive plugin explores the power behind the newly expanded Multi Engine and gives an incredible first taste of the platform.

"Nano" is a full-fledged virtual analogue synth with a broad array of features and customisable parameters. The synth engine has dual oscillators with optional ring modulation, a 4-pole state-variable filter with soft clipping distortion, built-in EG and built-in multi-waveform LFO.

Sequencing powerhouse

At the heart of Drumlogue is a flexible, easy-to-use, and extremely powerful 64-step sequencer. This makes it easy to create complex patterns and polyrhythms that elevates the music creation process. Innovative features are available including per-step probability, per-step alternate trigger patterns, per-step micro offsets, per-track groove patterns and much more. With the clear OLED display, it's also easy to follow and edit your sequences visually.

Chain mode makes creating long and interesting patterns simple. In loop mode you can switch between several variations to play sequences in new and interesting ways. The Motion and Accent recording functions are fast and intuitive, and if you want to try new things on your track, the randomisation function is there to help you.

Effects and customisation

Drumlogue has high-quality effects across three categories that can be used simultaneously: delay, reverb and master effects. The send amounts for delay and reverb effects are set independently, with multiple return points also available. Master effects add that final polish to the sound and can be bypassed on a per-part basis, meaning it's possible to send the effect to specific audio parts. A sidechain bus is also available to the master effects section.

Drumlogue has an audio input, so you can process other instruments through Drumlogue's effect chain, making it an ideal companion for your studio setup.

Connectivity

With a wide range of I/O, Drumlogue can be integrated seamlessly with your rig. A USB-A port supports connectivity with USB MIDI class-compliant devices, meaning volumes can be controlled with the faders on a nanoKONTROL 2, or sounds triggered by the pads on a nanoPAD 2.
It almost goes without saying that Drumlogue easily syncs with other gear via the MIDI in/out, sync in/out, or via USB MIDI.

Four individual outputs are available, in addition to headphone and main L/R. Any part can be assigned to any output, allowing for expanded routing versatility with external processing and multi-track integration.

Ease of use

Drumlogue is incredibly easy to use - having been designed with simplicity and accessibility in mind. The most important parameters for the main drum parts have dedicated knobs on the front panel for on-the-fly adjustments, as well as dedicated volume pots for each part to speed up the mixing process.

Flame "Fire" percussion synth module

The module is a full 8-way polyphonic drum and percussion synthesizer. It offers different digital synthesis algorithms, which can be distributed over 8 channels. The sound engine delivers virtual analog sounds as well as different digital percussion sounds, which are generated with FM, wavetable or virtual analog synthesis. It is also possible to create sim- ple monophonic bass or synthesizer voices.

During development, particular attention was paid to direct and simple usability with regard to live operation. The hardware essentially consists of two parts (which are deli- vered together). On the one hand there is the basic module with all controls, the display, connections for MIDI, 2x CV inputs and 5 audio outputs.

There is also a separate XFIRE I/O extension with sockets for the 16 analog trigger/gate/CV inputs and 3 additional audio outputs. Both modules are connected via a 60cm long ribbon cable. In this way, the XFIRE module can be installed anywhere else in the rack. The base module is therefore only 22TE wide and can also work alone without the extension as a MIDI expander.

A maximum of 8 audio outputs are available. A stereo pair (outputs 7+8), plus 6 additio- nal individual direct outputs. All outputs are freely configurable. Two pages with settings for panorama and volume are available for the stereo main out.

There is a gate/trigger input and a configurable CV input for each channel. Two additio- nal programmable CV inputs can be used for further controls. Regardless of the analog connection, the module offers full MIDI functionality. Two MIDI inputs and a MIDI output/softthru allow integration into an external MIDI setup. The firmware can be upda- ted via MIDI Sysex. The created KIT data can also be saved or exchanged.

The percussive playing surface will allow you to tap and scratch your sounds directly on the case, making your performance even more expressive and fun! This would be made possible by integrating a piezoelectric contact microphone into the case. The resulting sound would be available to use on the Anyma as an audio input, ready to be fed into resonators and effects!

You can edit patches directly on your Anyma, as well as send and receive patches via MIDI SysEx. But what about something more comfortable and powerful?

This software will allow you to easily manage and share patches, as well as edit them in depth in a streamlined environment on your PC or Mac, by making all the synth components directly visible and showing their interactions.

With more memory, you can have a huge library of sounds at your fingertips, or you can make many variations of your patches without having to worry about space or having the computer editor around to make backups!

Nebulae is a granular sampler and DSP platform. Its phase vocoder audio engine provides elastic audio, which can be time stretched, granularized, and mangled to no end. With independent control over pitch and speed, and granular controls such as overlap, window, and density, finding new sonic territory is only a knob turn away. Nebulae can use live audio input, a recorded buffer, or audio files as the source material for its powerful audio manipulations. The live input buffer can record up to five minutes of stereo audio at 48kHz, 24 bit. In addition, up to 75 MB of stereo audio can be loaded simultaneously through the USB port. No naming convention or special formatting necessary; just plug and play.

Nebulae lives a double life as an open source DSP platform with an extensive library of off the shelf alternate instruments. You can turn the module into a lush reverb, spectral delay, or tape-style looper simply by loading a new file onto the flash drive. Do you want to tweak one aspect of an existing instrument, even the default functionality? No problem. No prior coding knowledge is necessary to tweak and refine existing firmware to your liking or start with one of our templates. Alternate firmware files can be written with Pure Data, Csound, SuperCollider, and even bare-bones C programs.

As of March 2021, there has been a been a small bug fix to the recent software update for Mob of Emus.

The update fixes a bug where holding the Channel Selector Buttons for a short time to select a single channel and deselect any others was not working correctly.

The update fixes a bug where some Hex Mode parameters were not ignored when Hex Mode was set to off.

The update introduces a feature allowing users to double-click and hold the Hex button to reset all Hex Mode parameters and set Hex Mode to on.
