Sonicware LIVEN Ambient Ø 10-Voice Polyphonic Soundscape Synthesiser
Cat: 1032898 Rel: 31 Oct 24

10-voice polyphonic soundscape synthesiser
Notes: Your Personal Soundscape:

Conversations between Oscillating Tones and Your Mind

Immersive Ambient Generator

4 layers of tone and texture-Drone, Pad, Atmos, and Noise-merge to generate deep resonance and continuous transformation.

Ambient O (zero) is incredibly easy to use. Start by playing a tone from one layer using the note hold function. While listening closely, simply tweak the knobs to modify the tone and add other layers to shape a pleasing sound.

Blendwave Modulation Synthesis

Sonicware conducted extensive research into creating undulating and fluctuating tones for Ambient O, resulting in the development of a new wavetable-based synthesis.

Blendwave Modulation Synthesis combines 6 unique structures with 32 WAVEs featuring complex harmonic transitions, making it easy to create powerful low drones, lush pads, and transparent pizzicatos, perfect for Ambient Music.

4 knobs/8 parameters offer a wide range of tone creation.

A WAVE contains 128 harmonic tables, allowing for diverse tonal changes such as moving from basic waveforms to complex harmonics. The WAVE is represented by a yin-yang icon, with the yin representing moves in the reverse direction through the tables during modulation.

6 Structures - Each structure has a different number of oscillators and modulation circuits. ATMOS 1 applies ring modulation, while ATMOS 2 applies FM modulation.

Noise and Space

The Noise layer includes 8 specially selected nature sounds, offering noise blending, pitch adjustment and modulation to infuse unique spatial characteristics.

Additionally, it allows for up to 8 seconds of stereo sampling from the line input, letting you create personalized textures.

Extensive Effects Section

Ambient O is equipped with 9 types of lush reverb, each offering unique spatial dimensions and brightness settings. You can individually adjust the reverb send and shimmer send (for layering octaves) for each layer.

In addition to the reverb, the Ambient O offers an effect unit with Tape Delay, Reverse Delay, and 4 master effects; Overdrive, Bit/Rate Crush, Tilt EQ, and Stereo Chorus.

Sequencer on Each Layer

You can not only layer the four tones, but each layer also includes a sequencer that allows you to record keyboard performances.

Furthermore, you can record changes in numerous parameters, including level, pan, and filter movement over time.

Sequence up to 64 steps per pattern.
Random playback of sequence phrases.
Probability of notes sounding can be set from 25 - 100%.
Program notes step by step or record them in real time. Additionally, you can also input notes to specific steps while the sequencer is playing to add variation.
Overwrite notes in real-time with one touch while playing back sequence phrases.
The Parameter Lock function allows you to record knob changes into your patterns. This can be recorded live, or programmed in step by step.

16 Ambient Sound Pattern Palettes, crafted by expert sound designers

No need to start from scratch. Choose a palette that fits your mood, start playing tones, tweak the knobs, and layer them following your heart. Thus, your inner thoughts and emotions will be crafted into sound.

Play On The Go: Portable, Built-in speaker, and Battery-powered

Leave your usual workspace and try using Ambient O in your living room or outdoors. As its evolving sounds mixes with the surrounding environmental noises, you are likely to experience genuine Ambient Music.

Supercritical Redshift 6 6-Voice Analogue Variable Character Synthesiser
Cat: 992873

Six-voice analogue variable character desktop synthesiser
Notes: Supercritical Synthesizers introduces their first desktop instrument, Redshift 6 - six voice analogue Variable Character Synthesizer

Supermassively dense analogue oscillator combined with a chameleon analogue filter with versatile gain staging. Now sixfold.

Redshift 6 combines technology from the company's previous products, the Demon Core Oscillator and the Neutron Flux Filter. Each of the six voices features a DCO with analogue waveforms generated under digital control. The filter core is an analogue 4-pole state variable filter also digitally controlled to act like almost any classic vintage synthesizer filter and more. In addition to the oscillators and filters, Redshift 6 has all the features expected of a modern synth - plenty of modulators, flexible voice routing, multitimbrality, MPE, and DSP effects.

Redshift 6's idea is something that is wrapped in the moniker "Variable Character Synthesizer". Each voice's analogue path regarding tuning, gain staging, filter, and more is under strict digital control. Redshift 6 has as lush and warm sweet spot inspired by the analogue polysynth tradition, but it can also cover the full range from almost digitally sterile and clean to distorted misbehaviour and beyond. No modelling here - it's all analogue until the bypassable stereo DSP effects processor.

The oscillator, already road-tested in the Demon Core Oscillator eurorack module, is featured in each of the six voices. The oscillator has multiple tricks up its sleeve, each one wrapped as an Engine for the user to choose between. Traditional twin oscillator engines, supersaw engines, flanging phase sync engines, and transistor organ engines are all powerful modes in user-friendly ways that are easily controllable and modulatable.

Redshift 6's six voices can be configured in plenty of ways. Choose between true six-voice polyphony, classic vintage poly dual layer mode with 3+3 voices, six individual voices each with their own patch and physical output, or any combination of the above. Each of the six voices can also operate as a paraphonic voice with up to 16 note paraphony. Additionally, multiple filters can be chained by routing audio from one voice to another.

The form factor of Redshift 6 is a modern, compact desktop device with a 2.7-inch colour screen. Menu diving is reduced to a minimum, with quick navigation via the shortcut button grid. A selection of familiar synth controls are featured on the front panel. A macro mode is included with six user-assignable controls. The back panel features main audio outputs with a DSP effects processor and four auxiliary voice outputs.

One of the major design principles of Redshift 6 is to have a versatile and capable analogue platform and a flexible UI for new Engines, easily updateable via software updates.

Jomox Alpha Base MKII Analogue Drum Synthesiser
Cat: 1027523 Rel: 31 Oct 24

Analogue drum synthesiser
Notes: The ALPHA BASE Mk II is the successor of the already legendary ALPHA BASE.

What's new?

-Graphic OLED display
-Real RGB LEDs in the sequencer
-More buttons: Last Step, Roll/Flam, Store Kit/Patt, Rec Para and Rec Sample
-Analogue panning circuitry for the hybrid sample channels
-Improved analogue engine
-Noise volume is controllable in the hybrid sample channels
-More samples
-Headphone volume is independent from mix volume

It's true analogue. Eleven instruments, sequencer, Midi/USB/SD-Card. Samples. Sampling inputs, balanced individual outputs.

Although it may appear similar to the classics XBASE 09, 999 and 888, the ALPHA BASE has an entirely new design under the hood. Jomox have put in the concentrated know-how of their drum machines and synths of the past 20 years. Some things have been simplified, but also added new components or have combined them new. The outcome is the best sounding and most versatile drum machine that Jomox has ever built.

Kick Drum

The centre instrument still is the analogue kick drum which has gotten a facelifting again. The legendary punch and assertiveness of all Jomox kicks is convincingly continued. LFO, pitch envelope, metallic noise and gate time are famous features that may not and do not miss out.

MBrane
As a second analogue instrument, Jomox have put in a complete MBrane voice. It covers a gigantic spectrum of analogue snare drums, percussions, cow bells, claves, glasses, toms, bass drums etc. etc. It uses the technology of the Mod.Brane11. Of course, this instrument has 2 own LFOS, pitch envelopes and metallic noise as well.

Samples+Filter

The succeeding six instruments are built hybridly and consist of samples that are run through real analogue filters and VCAs. Each analogue sample channel has an own metallic noise that alternatively can be used as a signal source or being mixed to the sample.

With metallic noise only, it becomes a pure analogue instrument again. Four channels make use of a multimode filter that is capable of resonance - again they can be used as true analogue instruments with the self-oscillating filter as the only sound source if you wish.

Hi Hat

Two of these six channels are reserved for hi hats and make use of a proven and improved HH filter that was used in the XBASE 999 already. It is specialized for analogue hi hats and may conjure wonderful noisy hi hats from a sample mixed with metallic noise.

Clap, Rim, Crash, Ride

The succeeding four channels have each a resonateable 2-pole multimode filter that can be switched between LP, HP and BP. The filter cutoff can be modulated by an ADSR envelope and an LFO per instrument. If the filter is self-oscillating, one can create wonderful analogue toms, claves, sticks etc. by means of the VCA envelope behind. Or even extremely bend samples sonically. By principle, each of the four MM filter sample channels is a little synth voice of its own. A sampled synth bass run through the analogue filter is nearly indistinguishable from a real analogue synth.

X Sample 1+2

Moreover, there are two sample instruments that work purely digital. It's even possible that the Alpha Base can sample external audio on these channels for about max. 5 seconds. Which is more than enough for drum samples. The recorded sample can be stored on SD card or being copied to the internal flash memory and then being played back by the other sample channels. Samples can also be copied from SD card into flash memory. The format is RAW/WAV mono 16 Bit / 48kHz. The internal organization divides samples into fixed memory slots that can be addressed by the parameter sample select in the instruments. All samples can be pitched and modulated in a wide range. The sample start and stop can be edited and they are loopable as well. Modulation targets are: pitch, filter cutoff and volume. Each channel has an own LFO for that.

FM Synth

As a little digital gadget, a mini FM synth has been added. With 4 operators and maximum 6 voices it can create weird and crazy percussion sounds up to simple chords. Played over an external midi keyboard, it can be used as a polyphonic synth.

Effects

Two digital effects are on board: delay and reverb that act as send/return effects. Each of the analogue instrument outputs has an own A/D converter. The delay effect can also be inserted into the six hybrid sample channels and becomes then part of the sound production chain. The reverb can easily be killed by an encoder click but is indeed a great advantage for life performances with minimal equipment. Reverb times may reach to almost infinity, and the damping filters act quite extremely so that the reverb meets the requirement of modern electronic music and can be an essential part of sound.

Editing

For the editing of parameters there are 16 encoders arranged in a 4x4 matrix. Each instrument only addresses two pages by 16 values to make the editing as easy as possible, without deep menu cursors.

11 Instruments: Kick Drum, MBrane, Cl HiHat, Op HiHat, Clap, Rim Shot, Crash, Ride, X Sample 1, X Sample 2, FM Synth.
Real analogue Jomox kick drum.
Real analogue Jomox MBrane voice with 2 coupleable F-OSC for complex analogue snare, percussion, bass and tom sounds ranging from 16Hz to 20kHz.

Cat: 1028028 Rel: 31 Oct 24

Echoverb signal processor module - 18HP
Notes: Check Make Noise's website for content and pictures!

The Bruxa music synthesiser module is an audio alchemical experiment. Spill your sound into time, and let it decay through the filters to hear the results.

Bruxa is a collaboration between Make Noise and Alessandro Cortini. Inspired by Cortini's music and sonic experimentations, Bruxa embodies the seen and unseen, the sign and magic, the alchemy of sound. It is a new evolution of Tony and Alessandro's original prototype circuits which eventually became the Strega's Time/Filter Experiment. It is a multi-tap delay line with over a dozen unique feedback paths and multiple filters within those feedback paths aligned to allow for accumulation of noise, saturation and signal degradation.

While Strega is a complete synthesiser in a tabletop form factor, Bruxa is a Eurorack module designed to be used as one part of a Eurorack modular synthesiser. You will discover a number of differences in layout, signals, and sound. Living inside the Eurorack modular system, Bruxa encourages you to patch your own sound and modulation sources, yielding results surprisingly distinct from Strega.

Echoverb signal processor which shares origins with Strega
Well tuned to work nicely in a Eurorack modular system
All analogue dry signal path blended with digital/ analogue hybrid signal processor

Joranalogue Cycle 5 Vari-Wave Oscillator Module
Cat: 1020768 Rel: 30 Nov 24

Vari-wave oscillator module - 6HP
Notes: A small Eurorack oscillator that packs a punch: that's the best way to summarise Cycle 5.

At its heart lies a refined high-stability triangle core voltage controlled oscillator (VCO), with performance matching or exceeding that of much bigger and costly oscillator modules.

Instead of a coarse frequency knob, a 7-position octave switch is provided. This in combination with a perfect fifth transposition switch and factory pitch tuning, makes Cycle 5 an exceptionally straightforward and musical VCO to use: simply centre the fine tune knob, and the module will be instantly tuned to reference C.

Meanwhile, its dual precision volt per octave inputs add a great deal of versatility. For example, one could be used for pitch sequencing and the other as a generic exponential FM input, or both sequenced together for transposition effectsithe dual inputs serving as a built-in precision adder.

Sporting all the classic waveforms, ranging from sine wave, triangle, saw and square/saw, as well as a hard sync input and low frequency oscillator (LFO) mode, Cycle 5 makes for a real workhorse VCO. The novel trigonometric waveshaper results in a very clean sine wave, ideal for sub bass duty.

Cycle 5's highlight however, is its vari-wave feature. By adjusting the vari-wave knob, the waveform on the matching output will smoothly morph from sine, to triangle, saw, square and finally a very narrow pulse. The vari-wave parameter can be CV controlled, up to audio frequencies for some intense timbres.

Equally at home as a modest modulation companion to big VCOs, as being in the spotlight in miniature or polyphonic systems, Cycle 5 might just be the most multi-talented tiny analogue oscillator yet.

6 HP | +12: 75 mA, -12: 70 mA

Korg ST1K Analogue & Modular Synthesiser Tuner
Cat: 1021475

Analogue & modular synthesiser tuner
Notes: A synth-focused tuner merging Korg's pioneering experience in tuner technology with a deep understanding of the characteristics of analogue and modular synthesis. Designed with the unique needs of synth players in mind, the ST1K is compact, precise, and offers high visibility, ensuring your synthesizer is accurately tuned the way you want every time.

Analogue synthesisers can be tricky to tune! Not only can their pitch often fluctuate as the circuit adjusts to temperature changes, but you may also want to micro-tune different oscillators within the one synth.

This makes reliable tuning essential, whether you're recording in the studio or performing live. The ST1K delivers this with its capability for ultra-precise tuning to +/-0.1 cents. It features a large CMD LCD display that gives a clear, visually appealing readout of your tuning status, aligning with the aesthetics of modular and analogue synths. It also includes a built-in high-sensitivity microphone, expanding its use to a broader range of instruments!

At only 83 grams, this incredibly compact and light tuner is perfect for musicians and performers on the move.

Optimized circuitry for stable tuning of analogue synths

The ST1K's input circuit has been finely tuned to provide stable tuning for modular synths, accommodating high voltage levels without interference from LED noise, and with a clear focus on maintaining sound quality.

3D visual meter with large-screen visibility

The large, easy-to-read note name display and glowing LEDs allow the user to clearly perceive pitch deviations and changes at a glance. The 3D visual meter makes it possible to tune to within i0.1 cents, which is difficult with needle meters.

Ultra-precise tuning down to +/-0.1 cents
Professional recording and stage performances always require perfect tuning. The ST1K is capable of ultra-high-precision tuning down to +/-0.1 cents in strobe mode. With the high measurement accuracy of the flagship model, this compact device is a truly professional tuner that allows you to track down even the smallest errors in pitch.

Three meter display modes in addition to note name display

Three types of meter display mode can be selected to suit the player's style. In addition to the standard "Regular Mode", the "Strobe Mode" and "Half Strobe Mode" indicate pitch changes by the direction and speed of meter flow, making it easy to see even the smallest errors.

Compact, flat design allows you to carry a large screen with you

The meter display is large and easy to read, yet the body is smaller and more compact. The flat design provides excellent visibility and portability.

Play All Day PlayFader 2-Channel CV & MIDI Portable Sequencer
Cat: 1045178 Rel: 31 Oct 24

2-channel CV & MIDI portable sequencer
Notes: PlayFader is a 2 channel CV & MIDI portable sequencer.

Each channel of PlayFader features CV and Gate outputs that are controlled by its Fader and Play button. Move the Fader to change the CV level, press the Play button to output a variable-width gate or trigger.

PlayFader also outputs 2 channels of MIDI - select from Notes, Chords, CC's and many more output options. MIDI mirrors the analogue outputs so you can control anything with a MIDI input while also controlling your analogue CV synths, pedals etc.

PlayFader runs either to its own internal clock with full transport controls and tap tempo, or loves making friends with external clocks. Sync can be by CV or MIDI, in or out.

Select from your own fully customisable user scales or smooth voltage ranges of 2, 3, 5 & 8v in addition to live transposition.

Each channel has two recording buffers which you can jump, swap and copy between.

PlayFader also has 7 FUN FX modes... for now.

Based on the TE pocket operator punchFX, there is a dedicated FUN button. The idea is that the FUN modes modulate and influence your recorded pattern contents while using the faders to change relevant parameters for the mode you're in.

All FUN modes will be addressable by the built-in accelerometer in future firmware (coming soon), which should be bonkers amounts of fun.

PlayFader has a protective lid that doubles as a stand and feels great in your hand if you want to hold it and play- this is the PlayCase.

When you're travelling, all the controls are safely protected by the lid, held in place with a handy wristband which supports LGBTQ+ equality around the world.

The lid can then be flipped onto the back of PlayFader when you're ready, giving you some grip and a bit more height, making it perfect to play all day!

PlayFader is a versatile CV, Gate and MIDI sequencer & looper that loves to make friends with modular synths, vintage synths, any synth or sampler with MIDI, guitar pedals, and anything else with CV and expression inputs. It can even be a great controller and sequencer for your DAW & computer-based workflow.

You can also read the official manual and quick reference guides and these are always instantly accessible from the QR code on the back of every PlayFader.

Tesseract Modular Vinia 8-Channel Audio Generator & Effects Processor Module
Cat: 1040525 Rel: 30 Nov 24

8-channel audio generator & effects processor module - 16HP
Notes: Vinia is a new powerful 8-channel audio generator and processor for Eurorack. Each channel is independent and has its own signal chain. This can be a multi-engine instrument, an FX processor, a combination of both, or a chain of several FX.

The sound generator section offers 2 sample players (one plays from the 16 MB internal flash memory and the other directly from the microSD card), various VCOs (VCO, multi-VCO, harmonic VCO), Karplus, a Chord generator, noise, a drum synth and modulation generators (LFO, envelope follower, envelope).

Each of these generators has a rich set of parameters for setting up your sounds. Then, there is a powerful multi-FX processor.

Tesseract Modular has added 20 different algorithms in Vinia: FM operator, filters (multimode, ladder, rubber, bandpass), a wave folder, tube saturation, delays (filter delay, delay, long delay), reverb, metallizer, grain pitch shift, and more.

These can be flexibly set in a chain per channel and offer many customization possibilities. The module also hosts a mixer. You can also save your channels in presets and work with macro parameters.

Each of the 8 channels can be independently configured as a multi effect processor, VCO, sample player...

Audio outputs are DC coupled so it can be used to generate complex CV modulation sources too.

There are 2 types of modulation in Vinia, the first is stepped (occurs every 1,4 milliseconds approx.) and very flexible, any modulation source can modify any parameter of any track. The second is the 'audio rate' one (44,1 KHz), only a few parameters admit this type and both sources and destinations will be within the same track.

Audio sources: Audio Input, Flash Sample Player, MicroSD Sample Player, VCO, Multi VCO, Harmonic Oscillator, Karplus, Chords, LFO, Envelope Follower, Envelope, Noise, Drum Synth

Audio processors: FM Operator, Multimode Filter, Ladder Filter, Rubber Filter, Bandpass Filter, VCA / Polarizer, Folder, Tube Saturation, Exponential Envelope, Delay, Filter Delay, Long Delay, Long Filter Delay, Reverb, Metalizer, Chorus, Modulator, Vocoder 16, Vocoder 32, Bit Crusher, Rectifier, Grain Pitch Shift, Ring Modulator

By combining Timetosser with a classic DJ set-up, much value can be added to any stage act. Furthermore, Timetosser can be hooked up to any device, giving you much artistic freedom. From drum machines to modular synthesizers, from a single layer on your mixer (e.g. basslines, vocals, drums..) to the master output. By adding Timetosser, you instantly gain a unique live effect by adding variety to your tracks and loops.

How does it work?

Standalone - Use the tap-tempo key to tap in sync with the music. From this, Timetosser learns the length of 1/4, 1/8 and 1/16 notes, as well as their triplets.

MIDI IN - Another option is to sync to midi-clock. By connecting the supplied mini-jack to DIN-5 adapter cable to the sync input, Timetosser is able to synchronise to an incoming midi-clock signal.

Analog Gate - The sync input also supports analogue gate voltages. To use analogue gate sync, just connect a standard mono mini-jack cable to the sync input directly.

MIDI OUT - Having both a MIDI-input and output means these will be usable from within your DAW software when Timetosser is connected to your computer. But the true advantage comes when Timetosser is used in standalone-mode. Since Timetosser detects the tempo of the incoming audio, the MIDI-output can be used to send out that tempo. This means you can synchronise your MIDI-gear and have them play in time with anything you feed into Timetosser. Alter Audio are very excited about the possibilities this brings: blur the lines between deejaying and live performing by having synths and drum machines play alongside your tracks.

By pressing any of the keys of the upper row, you basically select a delay that is a multiple of the selected note length. By playing patterns using the upper keys, you can keep changing the delay time (in real-time!) in a way that you can repeat a note, or change the order of the music entirely.

Audio Plugin / USB connectivity

Besides being a standalone device, Timetosser can also be connected to your computer. This way, it becomes a USB MIDI interface and controller for the Timetosser audio plugin (VST & AU).

Timetosser's firmware can be upgraded through USB with the application that is downloadable from the support page.

The audio plugin is a virtual Timetosser that can be dropped as an effect on an audio track in your DAW. One of up to eight plugin instances can be selected and controlled from the hardware unit.

WMD Performance Mixer MKII 8-Channel Mixer Module
Cat: 1021187

8-channel mixer module - 50HP
Notes: Enter the WMD Performance Mixer MKII - Eight years after the MKI was released, the MKII builds on all the valuable feedback we've received. This is a serious upgrade, with feature enhancements and engineering improvements affecting every bit of the design.

Decisions, decisions, decisions!
If you recall, we showed a previous version of the PM MKII a year ago. That version was very similar to the original, with a few enhancements. Primarily focused on manufacturability and overall noise floor with some great recording features. We moved to an 8-layer board, replaceable channel strips, developed the MIDI and bootloader, pre/post fader headers, and made it work on both AUXs simultaneously.

Noise Performance - The MKI was alright with noise, there was a little bleed too. Going to 8-layer boards meant I could put ground planes between trace layers, and spread the traces out triple the spacing of what they were on the MKI, this reduces bleed/crosstalk by a factor of about six.
Noise Performance 2 - On the Original, the Level VCA was before the Panning VCAs, which saved on parts/power, but it meant that the Panning VCAs were always connected to the mix bus, adding noise floor that couldn't be attenuated. Making all the channels stereo and putting the Pan circuit first eliminated this problem, now the noise add is controlled by the fader. This did force me to make every channel stereo, so the design got simpler through figuring this out.
Panning / Crossfader - The above panning/level improvement made it possible to convert the Pan control into a crossfader, buy simply routing the post pan signals through a switch to the opposing channel, summed at the Level control. This huge improvement allowed the A/&/B input switching scheme to still work on the PM MKII, a bit differently, but it's there in spirit.
Modular Design - The channel strips are all now stereo, and identical, which makes assembly much easier, and lowers the cost. It also makes replacing them easier should a mechanical part fail or get spilled into. Further, the Patchbay, Power board, and Master section are all separate parts, so if there's a failure, they can be quickly swapped without having to RMA the whole unit.
Patchbay - The MKI and rev E MKII still had jacks misaligned with channels. This was a source of frustration for myself and many users of the PM MKI. And I decided to just be done with it. It didn't make sense to try to put jacks over the channel, it wasted too much space on the panel... So all the jacks go left, keeping the mixer clear of cables, this let me space the knobs out a bit to take up all 3U. It's cleaner, simpler to make, and intuitive to use.
Expandability - It's super modular now, the DB25 can connect to any two headers that spits out audio, they're all the same format across PM MKII and Channels MKII. Pre, post, mixes, connect it however you want. And the connectors can't be hooked to power, meaning no more blown opamps and RMAs to the factory. They're all shrouded too so they won't get bent in shipping!
Features Overview:
Everything is stereo. Inputs, Busses, Auxes, and Cue Mix.
INPUTS: IN LEFT is normaled to IN RIGHT.
GAIN: Each channel has a Gain trim range of -12dB to +20dB, this will let you use line level devices easily.
GAIN CLIP LED: lights red 1dB before clipping the input stage.
LVL FADER: smooth intuitive curve for easily adjusting the mix level on the fly. A yellow indicator shows the level.
MUTE: Press the channel button and the channel will soft mute with a red LED indicator.

Aodyo Loom 3 Octaves Multi-Dimensional MPE MIDI Controller
Cat: 1017191

Multi-dimensional MPE MIDI controller
Notes: Loom is a multidimensional MPE MIDI Controller designed for immediate playability and expressiveness.

MPE synthesizers and virtual instruments offer you rich sounds that respond to the slightest variation, but there are few controllers fit to the task.

Aodyo Instruments have drawn on previous experience with the Sylphyo and the Anyma synthesizers to offer musicians a versatile and powerful device.

Whether you play live, record in the studio or compose music in your bedroom, Loom will become a flexible and original addition to your setup.

Features

Don't be fooled by its simple appearance: Loom's magic lies in the synergy between its surfaces and sensors, offering you different playing modes that will allow you to play almost any kind of virtual instrument or synthesizer.

Playing modes

Unravel evolving chords, weave intricate melodies, craft expressive rhythms. Any way you choose to approach it, Loom is designed as an extension of your hands.

Loom can function as a MIDI Keyboard, offering access to a two or three-octave range. You can play notes, bend them, nuance your attack, and add expression by sliding along the keys.

But if you want to break free from the keys, Loom can also work as a MIDI Ribbon, allowing for smooth sliding across its surface. Optionally, it can make sure you land on the right note, making it easier to play with others without losing the free-form nature of the ribbon.

If you want to play chords like a guitar, Loom offers a MIDI Strum mode, where you can choose a chord with one hand and strum virtual strings with the other. Or you can play it like a harp, directly sliding your fingers across the chord.

For rhythmic parts, Loom also got you covered. Its MIDI Drumkit mode has been carefully designed to provide you with a unique and efficient layout for finger-drumming. It can sense the way your finger hits the surface, as well as the position of your hit: flick more or less quickly to open the hi-hat, move your finger along the ride cymbal's edge or bell, and obtain subtle variations on your snare sound. It works great with acoustic and synthetic drum sounds.

The keyboard, ribbon, strum, and drumkit modes were only the first four, and Aodyo have recently added four more in the collection.

Fader mode is perfect for graphical EQs, organ drawbars, resonator filter banks, vocoders or mixers. After selecting your layout and mappings, you can move faders with several fingers at a time, and even draw a shape by dragging a finger horizontally if your thumb touches the front bar.

Some people prefer guitars to keyboards, and the keygrid mode is made for them. It provides a configurable 2D grid of notes, and otherwise works like the keyboard mode, allowing glissandi, timbre and dynamics variations in the same way.

Many backers mentioned the early electronic musical instrument Ondes Martenot, which had a pressure-sensitive touche d'expression to control volume, a keyboard to select notes that could be moved sideways for vibrato, and a ribbon to play continuous pitch. That's suspiciously close to the sensors Loom offers, a Martenot mode was added. The Loom version works mostly the same way as the original, but adds polyphony and MPE if you need it!

And finally, if you just need to get XYZ coordinates from the touch surface, you can use the controlpad mode. But you can also divide the surface in several pads, allowing you to explore a large number of dimensions at once, making this mode especially suited to sound design tasks.

These were the first eight playing modes Loom offers, but Aodyo are planning to develop and offer more later via free software updates.

Multidimensional and multitouch tactile surface

Loom features a multidimensional tactile surface, enabling each finger to control pitch (X axis), timbre (Y), and dynamics (Z) independently. In addition, a patent-pending dynamic sensing system analyses when your fingers land to determine impact force.

Sliders and bass (front/back)

Loom's uniqueness stems from its additional controls on the front and back sides, making your thumbs play a pivotal role. The slider on the left can be used as a modulation wheel, and the bar on the right can be your sustain pedal or a way to mute cymbals. You can make the back slider and bar do the same thing, or something entirely different. With these, thumb twiddling is not an option.

Action zone

To the left of the surface lies a pressure-sensitive squishy square area called the action zone. Press it to have nuanced control over dynamics or effects.

Editor

The companion editor allows you to customize every aspect of your Loom: change modes assign zones, map MIDI controls, set thresholds, and adjust response curves.

Built for MPE and legacy MIDI

MIDI MPE (MIDI Polyphonic Expression) is an extension of the MIDI (Musical Instrument Digital Interface) standard that enables more nuanced and expressive performance capabilities for electronic instruments.

Traditional MIDI communication allows for control changes to be applied globally across all notes of an instrument. In contrast, MPE assigns each note its own unique channel, allowing for individual control of pitch, volume, and timbre per note.

This innovation opens up a new realm of expressive possibilities, letting musicians bend, slide, and modulate notes independently, much like on acoustic instruments. By providing detailed control over each note's parameters, MPE enhances the expressiveness of electronic music performances.

Loom is designed from the ground up for MPE, but it also works very well with any non-MPE MIDI instruments, even monophonic ones!

Developer-friendly

You're not limited to the modes we've designed. If you know your way around code, you can also take over and create your own. You can send a specific MIDI message to enter developer mode, where every input will be sent as-is, and you'll be able to control the LEDs and display by sending MIDI SysEx messages to the Loom from your own program or script running on your computer. This way, you can entirely control what's happening on your Loom, design new playing modes that you can distribute to others, or use Loom as an experimentation platform.

Connectivity

Using a USB or MIDI cable, you can easily connect your Loom to all your hardware and software: VSTi, Audio Units, hardware, etc.

The Spectrum Generator

The Spectrum Generator uses pre-defined reference spectra and various harmonic manipulation tools to provide precise control and alteration of the timbre. Adjust formant, rotation of bins, the waveform used for signal reconstruction and more to craft the raw character. These parameters can be modulated for some complex soundscape creation.

The Sub-Oscillator

The Sub-Oscillator is designed to complement the Spectrum Generator, providing a wide range of sonic material to choose from. It features modern Virtual Analog Algorithms for classic waveform generation and super-saw and super-square waveforms. Additionally, it can play user-imported short waveforms for even greater versatility in sound creation.

The Noise Module

The Noise Module is an advanced source including a built-in continuous low-pass to high-pass filter for precise control over the noise spectral content. The noise sample rate can be programmed to generate crackles, glitches, or pure white noise, depending on the needs.

The Ring Modulator

The Ring Modulator is an iconic tool that multiplies the outputs of the two oscillators, making it perfect for generating inharmonic tones, special effects, and percussive sounds.

The Multimode Filter

The Multimode Filter uses hand-written assembly algorithms based on latest research on analogue modeling technology. It offers classic shapes in 12 and 24dB/octave, with filter tracking and self-resonance capabilities. The built-in saturations add subtle warmth and colour to the sound. The filter has a very smooth & natural ground character and react very fast to cutoff changes handling filter FM and fast envelopes with style.

The Overdrive

The Overdrive is a post-filter effect with a range of models, from gentle saturation and tube overdrive to more aggressive signal destruction through bitcrushing and clipping. It adds grit, warmth, and distortion to the sound for a dynamic and expressive performance. Algorithms are very natural sounding, analogue-like.

Meta-Envelopes
The Meta-Envelopes share their Attack, Sustain, and Release parameters, while each Decay stage is independent. Envelope stages can be switched on or off, allowing for a variety of shapes from a full ADSR to a simple gate. MIDI Velocity can be set to influence the Attack and Decay times, and envelope amplitude can be scaled with aftertouch. Envelopes can be looped and reset on triggering or set to keep its previous value.

Custom-LFOs

The Custom-LFOs provide an eclectic set of more than 16 waveforms, including noises and other algorithms, waveforms which can be chained together to create complex modulation sequences. Each LFO has its own AR envelope with Rise and Fall controls, and can be MIDI clocked and restarted for precise synchronization. Additionally, some MIDI parameters can influence the LFO amplitude.

The Modulation Matrix

The Modulation Matrix consists of 3x slots for each voice, providing extensive routing options to enhance the hardwired connections. The matrix offers a large selection of sources and destinations that cover almost all sound parameters. The modulation amount can be scaled by common MIDI parameters such as Aftertouch, Velocity, and more, allowing for expressive playing styles.

The Delay Module

The Delay Module offers Mono, Stereo, and Ping-Pong modes, with MIDI clock synchronization and adjustable feedback, mix, and colour controls. It supports a range of delay lengths, from very short - resonator-like - to free delay length up to 8 seconds. Each part has its own independent delay module.

The Equalizer Section

The Equalizer Section features two independent equalizers for each part, offering cut, boost, or shelf modes and adjustable corner frequencies. This is a powerful tool for blending the sounds of the different parts.

The Part Mixer

The Part Mixer provides flexible routing (audio buses), volume and panning controls for each part. It also defines the amount of signal sent to the master Reverb.

The Master Reverb

The Master Reverb is a high-quality algorithmic reverberation unit with a pleasant not bright but clean sound. It offers multiple programs with rooms and halls. This reverb is a handy mixing tool, making the overall sound more cohesive and polished.

Electronics

Manatee is powered by 2x 200MHz dual-core DSPs, offering advanced audio synthesis capabilities and an impressive dynamic range. Included too are 128 MBit of SRAM, 512 kBit of EEPROM, 4x 24-bit Burr Brown DACs, and transparent line and headphone drivers.

User Interface

The interface offers hands-on controls over all major synthesis parameters for all sound modules. The strong torque potentiometers feature Nylon knobs that provide a satisfying haptic feel. The high contrast 16x2 LCD screen clearly displays feedback through both text and small graphics.

Boss CE-2W Chorus Waza Craft Effects Pedal
Cat: 1030418

Chorus effects pedal
Notes: Launched in 1976, the CE-1 Chorus Ensemble was not only the world's first chorus effect pedal, but also the very first BOSS pedal. Three years later, this inventive new sound was squeezed into the blue CE-2 Chorus, and chorus pedals have remained in the compact lineup ever since. Four decades on, the spacious modulated tone of the signature BOSS effect is still loved by musicians everywhere. In 2016, to celebrate the 40th anniversary of BOSS innovation, the original analogue chorus sounds are now reborn with the Waza Craft CE-2W. The CE-2W's Standard mode faithfully recreates the classic CE-2 chorus sound, and adds an expansive new sound field with stereo output, which was unavailable in the mono CE-2. CE-1 mode fully reproduces the stereo chorus and vibrato sounds of the legendary CE-1, with the addition of variable chorus depth not available in the original pedal. To commemorate the birth of BOSS effects, the CE-2W is made exclusively in Japan, just as the original CE-1 and CE-2 were.

Waza Craft: The Art of Superior Tone

Since the beginning, the engineers at BOSS have been committed to achieving the finest guitar tones using any technology necessary, from old-school analogue circuits to high-tech DSP. This enthusiastic spirit continues on with the Waza Craft series, which brings you exceptional tone and touch response through carefully selected analogue components, refined circuitry, and meticulous attention to detail. In Japan, "Waza" is the term for art and technique, and these special edition pedals proudly carry the Waza symbol to represent the pinnacle of BOSS design and craftsmanship.

Sound Study Rings Resonator Module
Cat: 1040429 Rel: 30 Nov 24

Resonator module - 14HP
Notes: Rings is a resonator, the essential ingredient at the heart of several physical modeling synthesis techniques. The resonator transforms an external, unpitched excitation audio signal into a full-bodied pitched sound. Rings is the bar, the tube or the bunch of strings you cause to vibrate with a bursty external signal.

Any signal can be fed into the resonator, including envelope clicks, trigger signals, noise bursts, even tonal sounds. It also contains a special "polyphonic mode", where four notes can ring together at the same time. Although it is not truly polyphonic, it adds density and chordal characters to the sounds output. For those wanting the functions of Elements without the losing HP real-estate, Rings is exactly the solution.

Three families of vibrating structures are simulated by the module, with CV control over their parameters:

Strings, membranes and tubes as modelled by Elements' resonator section (modal synthesis).

Strings coupled together and vibrating in sympathy, with controllable intervals between them.

Strings with a variable amount of inharmonicity.

Rings can be configured so that each new note is played on its own virtual string, while the previously played note(s) still decay. This unique take on polyphony allows the module to play strummed chords.

Controls

Number of strings/structures (1, 2 or 4).
Synthesis model (modal, sympathetic strings, string).
Main frequency (quantized in semitones).
Structure. With the modal and string models, controls the inharmonicity of the spectrum (which directly impacts the perceived "material"). With the sympathetic strings model, controls the intervals between strings.
Brightness. Specifies the brightness and richness of the spectrum.
Damping. Controls the damping rate of the sound, from 100ms to 10s.
Position. Specifies at which point the structure is excited.

Inputs and Outputs

Frequency, structure, brightness, damping and position modulation CV inputs with attenuverter (-8V to +8V).

"Strum" trigger input to indicate when a new polyphony voice needs to be allocated. Normalized to an edge detector detecting changes on the main V/Oct input, or sharp transients on the audio input. Detection threshold at 0.6V.

1 V/Oct frequency input (-1V to +5V).

Resonator audio input, normalized to a filtered pulse/noise burst triggered by the "Strum" input (for stand-alone use). Modular level, up to 16Vpp.

Two audio outputs, splitting the signal into even/odd partials in monophonic operation, or even/odd notes in polyphonic operation.

Specifications

Module width: 14HP
Module depth: 25mm
Current draw: 120mA @ +12V, 5mA @ -12V

Sound Study Plaits Multi-Algorithm Macro Oscillator Module
Cat: 1029221

Multi-algorithm macro oscillator module - 12HP
Notes: This is a fully built module, with the latest firmware pre-installed. Comes with Rogan knobs. You can swap our panel for another manufacturer's panel!

Mutable Instruments Plaits is a multi-algorithm macro-oscillator that provides everything from FM to speech synthesis, analogue percussion emulation, wavetables, modal synthesis, granular synthesis...whoa, this module does basically everything. Expanding on Braids's strong points and eliminating its pitfalls, Emilie Gillet's Plaits is a perfect bonding of tremendous flexibility and an intuitive user interface.

Built from the ground up and sharing no code or hardware with Braids, Plaits borrows concepts from its predecessor while operating at considerably higher audio resolution and with a refined means of user interaction. For one, it dispenses with that pesky screen to offer even more tactility and immediacy. Additionally, Plaits features a dedicated CV input for the model parameter, easy access to the module's internal envelopes for modulation of vital parameters, and an integrated lowpass gate with definable filtering intensity and virtual vactrol response time.

Offering a broad survey of synthesis techniques, Plaits promises a vast sonic palette that could find a home in any modular synthesizer setup. Ideal for beginners and modular synth gurus alike, Plaits is an obvious choice for anyone who wants a lot of functionality in a small space and with a modest price tag.

Intech Studio Grid PO16 Modular MIDI Controller
Cat: 1032095 Rel: 31 Oct 24

Modular MIDI controller consisting of 16x potmeters
Notes: The PO16 is a sleek, compact, single-turn rotary potentiometer module for controlling quick motion changes like EQ, filters, or synth parameters.

Equipped with customisable multi-coloured LED lights to enable labelling in dark environments. Facilitate differentiating each potmeter by changing the colour of each indicator LED, adjusting brightness levels individually or adding pulsing animations.

It is recommended that, Grid is connected directly to the computer with the supplied Intech Studio USB-C cable. Some USB hubs may not work with Grid, due to issues with how the various class compliant communication methods establish connection through a hub with the host computer.

Most digital audio workstations can identify Grid as a MIDI controller and appear as a MIDI mappable device. When multiple modules are interconnected, Grid is identified as a single control surface. If the interconnected controllers are plugged in separately into the same Host, they appear as Grid #1, Grid #2 MIDI devices and so forth.

By default, through the Host's MIDI learn functionality, all of the control elements can be mapped. Grid's default firmware uses a unique dynamic assignment, so a 10 module Grid control surface will have unique Channel, Command and CC/Note assignments on each control element.

Grid controllers are shipped with firmware default configuration. To modify the configurations of the controllers, the Grid Editor cross-platform application can be used. Through the Grid Editor, suggested manufacturer profiles and community profiles are also available. Grid has an event driven architecture, where every interaction with the controller triggers an event. The triggered event runs the configured actions, like setting LED colours and intensity.

Events on Grid available for configuration:
Init - when a page is initialized
Potmeter - fader or potentiometer change event
Encoder - rotation of endless encoders
Button - switch button or encoder interaction
Utility - side button
Midi rx - MIDI processing incoming to Grid
Timer - delayed message triggers

Grids are created to suit distinguished workflows. Whether it comes to controlling outboard hardware gear like synthesizers, guitar pedals, and effect boxes, or inboard software such as DAWs, Lightning, and VSTs, a Grid controller is an ideal choice.
Get started with Grid in an instant: just plug in, snap together and play. There is no need for a brain module or any additional software components.

FM synthesiser: retro game music composer
Notes: Revive the SONIC sensation of the golden era!

Create Diverse Game Music with a Sophisticated 6-Track Sequencer and 10 Types of Effects

You too must have fallen under the spell of the extraordinary visuals and sounds of the groundbreaking 16-bit video game console that once dominated the world! It was powered by the iconic "YM2612" sound chip, a legacy that endures even today.

The MEGA SYNTHESIS has resurrected the sound engine of this chip. Sonicware have faithfully recreated the 4-operator FM sound module, the 8-bit PCM sound module, and the "SN76489" PSG (Programmable Sound Generator) sound module used by the original console.

4-operator & 8-algorithm FM sound module with precise sound editing in Edit Mode - Including extra features like fine-tuning operator ratios, which was impossible at the time.

PSG (Programmable Sound Generator) sound module - Synthesize basic waveforms and white noise to recreate iconic retro-game-sounds.

And the 8-bit PCM sound part of YM2612 - Recreate the sound of PCM playback controlled by the Z80 microprocessor used at the time.

Wee Noise Makers PGB-1 Portable GrooveBox (black aluminium case)
Cat: 1025150

Portable synthesiser & sequencer
Notes: Wee Noise Makers PGB-1 is an advanced yet portable synthesizer and sequencer that allows you to craft complex musical pieces anywhere. This all-in-one, open-source, customizable device is designed to empower aspiring musicians, seasoned creators, and makers. It isn't just an instrument-it's your gateway to the world of music production and audio synths.

PGB-1 has open-source stock firmware that makes it a playful and powerful groove box. It allows you to craft complex musical pieces with drums, bass, lead, samples, reverb, bitcrusher, overdrive, and others.

Orchestrated by an advanced sequencer with conditional steps, repeats/ratcheting, pattern chaining, chord sequencing, song mode, live sequencing effects, and more.

PGB-1 is Wee Noise Makers' response to the current landscape of entry-level hardware synthesizers and groove boxes. In recent years, we saw a plethora of new electronic instruments marketed as accessible, affordable, and designed for beginners. Yet, often these instruments can feel limited, tying users to a specific sound or ecosystem. These limits sometimes feel artificial, pushing you to combine multiple products of the same line to actually make meaningful music. At the same time leading to frustrating sequencing, connection, and mixing issues that defeat the portability and playfulness of the instruments.

With the PGB-1, Wee Noise Makers wanted to address all these shortcomings, bringing you an instrument that is:

All-in-one: you only need one device to craft complete music pieces
Powerful: Drums, bass, lead, samples, etc. with advanced sequencing features
Truly pocket-size: 10 x 6.6 x 1.5 cm, smaller footprint than a smartphone
Hackable: Designed for customization, open-source firmware, and compatible with several programming languages (including Python)
Creativity should not be limited by the tools you have, but empowered by them. With the PGB-1, Wee Noise Makers are dedicated to creating a platform that encourages innovation and experimentation. Whether you are a musician looking to explore new sounds, a developer eager to create unique software, or a hobbyist who enjoys tweaking and building.

PGB-1 is designed to be customized and modified to your taste. The front panel is a bare PCB, designed with the open-source software Kicad. The production file will be available so that anyone can make its own version with custom graphics and get it manufactured for a few bucks.

PGB-1 is also hackable with CircuitPython, C\C++, and Ada support for programming your own synthesizers, video games, or any audio-based projects.

By making the PGB-1 open source, a sandbox is provided for the audio community. Users can delve into the code, modify existing features, or add entirely new functionalities. This flexibility not only enhances the capabilities of the PGB-1 but also fosters a collaborative environment where users can share their creations and learn from each other.

Additionally, Wee Noise Makers have set up a dedicated Discord server for all PGB-1 users and enthusiasts to discuss, share, and contribute to the growing ecosystem.

Open-source software is not as common in the audio industry, but with this project, the aim is to follow the path of great manufacturers such as Mutable Instruments or Winterbloom.

Black Corporation Kijimi MK2 8-Voice Analogue Synthesiser
Cat: 1029533

8-voice analogue synthesiser with polyphonic aftertouch, MPE & microtuning
Notes: KIJIMI MK2 is crafted to be one of the most powerful polysynths ever built, all behind intuitive front-panel controls, from its continuous timbral variation to its exhaustive modulation matrix. The Black Corporation original features planetary-sized analog sound, inspired by the best of rare and classic synths, but unique to our own parallel galaxy.

Continuous analogue timbral control

Instead of fixed waveforms, KIJIMI's voltage-controlled oscillators can morph continuously through waveform types. Sine, triangle, sawtooth, and variable pulse waves are smoothly variable, with pulse width as you turn to the far right. It's a scheme that provides unique, independent timbral over each of the eight voices.

Deep 8-voice architecture

Each of KIJIMI 's 8 voices features 2 analogue oscillators each with a square sub-bass oscillator, for buttery timbres with extensive sound design options. The sub-oscillator produces an octave lower than the combined VCO1 and VCO2 outputs, meaning you can tune two sub-pitches. Hard sync is available in VCO sync and VCO1->2 and 2->1 configurations for maximum flexibility. There's also a noise source for adding bite and percussion components. A rich lowpass filter is built around the legendary 2140 chip and the ability to frequency-modulate it via VCO2, creates a full range of sounds from metallic and aggressive to subtle. Both filter cutoff and resonance are available as modulation destinations.

Unique envelope functionality with dedicated controls

Two ADSR envelopes come with independent rate multipliers, keyboard control of attack rate, and versatile routing. Engage the CYCLE button for a cycling trapezoidal mode, similar to that on vintage instruments like the EMS Synthi. Few polysynths offer this level of detailed control, let alone with front-panel controlsino menu diving needed.

Endless modulation programmability

Modulation possibilities set the KIJIMI apart from other polysynths. Two LFOs can be routed independently to up to eight destinations, directly on front-panel buttons, controlling frequency and waveform modulation, sub-oscillator amount, filter cutoff and frequency, and amplitude modulation. Each LFO includes multiple waveform options (sine, triangle, saw, ramp, square, random) and separate attack and decay knobs in addition to rate. ADSR2 sports four independent destinations, also via front-panel push buttons and knobs. Even velocity and aftertouch get their own dedicated control section for applying velocity or aftertouch to each parameter (LFO rate, waveform morph, sub, pitch bend, and VCA). Dedicated knobs let you apply your aftertouch and poly-aftertouch, to taste, right where you want it. You'll rarely use the menus, and when you do, it'll only be to unlock even more advanced functionality (like multiple LFO features!). KIJIMI is a rare case of fusing straightforward one-control-per-feature design with unrestricted possibilities.

Full MIDI and expressive control, tuning support

Combine all the elements, and KIJIMI is an instrument that's playable like no other. Each note you play separately triggers modulation, independently on each voice, with full control via aftertouch. Add in full MIDI control, complete MIDI polyphonic expression (MPE) support, advanced tuning capabilities (including microtuning via SCALA and 128 memory locations for tuning settings), and velocity polyphonic aftertouch, each with up to six more destinations with its own bipolar settings. KIJIMI finally brings a synthesizer architecture that can unlock the possibilities of your expressive controller of choice.

Updated package

The MK2 version of KIJIMI includes all the acclaimed sonic power and character of its predecessor, in an improved package. Updated firmware now includes the ability to assign different LFO settings (rate, waveform, envelope, and depth) to each individual destination. In addition to 128 factory and 1152 user presets, we've included user banks by Mathew Jonson, Richard Devine, and Paul Schilling. All this comes in a compact, 2.71kg/5.97 lb device with wood panels attached (or the option of metal rack ears instead). DIN MIDI and isolated USB are onboard.

Artium Instruments The Swarm 8-Voice Polyphonic Hybrid Synthesiser & Stereo Effects
Cat: 1038806 Rel: 30 Nov 24

8-voice polyphonic digital synthesiser & standalone stereo multi-FX box
Notes: Design philosophy

Knob-For-Knob Functionality:

Artium Instruments are committed to knob-for-knob functionality. Every feature of The Swarm is directly mapped to a knob, button, switch, or jack, ensuring effortless control. There's no need for menu-diving or complicated sequences of button presses to access features; everything is conveniently accessible at your fingertips.

Curated, Onboard Effects:

With over a decade of experience in the effects industry, Artium have carefully curated a selection of effects that seamlessly complement the synth core. Unique to The Swarm is its capability to use the onboard effects with other equipment, allowing you to route external audio through the inputs on the back.

Plug and Play Functionality:

The Swarm utilizes a USB-C MIDI host for simplicity and ease of use. Most modern class-compliant MIDI controllers with USB functionality should plug in and work immediately with zero setup. Additionally, The Swarm provides power to your controller, streamlining your setup process. For older controllers that only have DIN connections, a USB to DIN converter can be used to ensure compatibility. (These converters typically cost $10-20)

Quality Craftsmanship, Intentional Design:

Artium have invested considerable thought into crafting the overall feel of the instrument. From the layout of the knobs to the choice of colours, artwork, and the weight of the enclosure, every detail has been considered. These details matter because the connection a user forms with a piece of gear is almost as crucial in the creative process as the sounds it produces. A lot of love and passion has been poured into every aspect of The Swarm, from its sonic capabilities to its design aesthetics.

Open Source Platform:

Artium desktop synths use an open source platform known as Axoloti or Ksoloti for development and implementation of its products.

Synth core

Oscillator:

The Swarm features a SuperSaw oscillator with 8-note polyphony. This oscillator is composed of seven individual saw waves stacked on top of each other. The magic unfolds when you detune the waveforms by applying a frequency offset, resulting in one of the most massive synth sounds available.

Control Modes:

The Swarm employs this massive sound through two distinct control modes: Polyphonic Mode and Arpeggiator Mode. In Polyphonic Mode, you can play up to eight notes simultaneously, exploring the full range of polyphony. Arpeggiator Mode offers a comprehensive monophonic arpeggiator, automatically sequencing held notes in a variety of patterns, enhancing your creative possibilities.

More Features & Controls:

To shape the sound further The Swarm has a 4 Pole Low Pass Filter with a subtle resonance as well as a simple attack and release envelope.

Onboard effects

All onboard effects can be used with other music equipment. Simply plug an external audio source into the rear input jacks, and The Swarm will seamlessly mix the external audio with its synth core, allowing for simultaneous processing of both signals.

Freeze:

By pressing the touchpad on the right, The Swarm records a 1000ms sample of the current audio. It then layers, and smears the sample, creating an infinite drone frozen in time-a perfect foundation for layering additional notes. The freeze effect facilitates overdubbing, and pressing the touchpad with the freeze knob at its minimum setting erases the memory, allowing the device to capture a fresh sample.

Delay:

The Swarm's delay is a digital delay with a subtle touch of warmth. The delay length synchronizes with the arpeggiator clock, which can be adjusted manually using the clock knob or via the tap tempo touchpad on the left. Additionally, the delay features a multiplier knob, offering a range of unique subdivisions that complement the synced arpeggiator, including quarter notes, dotted eighths, eighths, and triplets.

Reverb:

The reverb effect in The Swarm strives to enhance the natural body and ambience of the synth core without overshadowing it. Its stereo reverb algorithm is controlled by a single knob, which adjusts both the mix and decay simultaneously. This versatile control allows you to seamlessly transition from realistic room or hall effects to expansive cathedral-like soundscapes, offering a wide range of atmospheric possibilities.

Chorus:

The SuperSaw oscillator practically demands to be paired with a chorus effect. The Swarm employs a stereo 4-voice chorus effect alongside a gradually shifting LFO, aiming to craft dimensionality without becoming nauseating.

Clatters Garden Listener Random Control Messages Generator Module From Biometric Signals
Cat: 1039362 Rel: 30 Nov 24

Random control messages generator module from biometric signals - 8HP
Notes: The Garden Listener is a random control messages generator from biometric signals. It detects conductivity variations on living beings' surface and transforms them into MIDI notes, ranging from C-1 to C8, and CV signals (0 - 5V). Its behaviour can be tamed through the one-knob menu from which you can choose and modify:

probes' sensitivity (making it more or less sensitive to current variations);
scale (chromatic, major, minor, Indian and Arabic);
MIDI channel (from 1 up to 16);
LEDs' brightness.

Conductivity variations are detected by the Probes Input and converted into MIDI notes in real time according to the Main menu settings. Each MIDI note exits through the MIDI output, allowing you to take advantage of the sound of either any synthesizer equipped with a MIDI port or any VST in your DAW, and gets converted into an analogue signal.

Trigger and Gate are fired every time a new note is generated, their voltage output can be modified with the respective attenuator (0 - 5V).

All the MIDI notes are converted into variable voltages (0 - 5V) depending on their pitch and exit through the CV output (1V/oct).

The CV output behaviour can be modified via the Octave Selector which acts as a "CV equalizer" from which you can choose to generate CV only if the respective MIDI note lies within a certain octave range.

For once, leave those LFOs alone, and let any living conductive being modulate your signals.

The module comes with 3.5mm white probes and a set of snap-on adhesive reusable electrode pads. A MIDI-TRS type A adapter (not included) is required for the MIDI output.

The module requires calibration for a proper 1V/oct output.

Built Module, SMD pre-soldered
Width: 8HP
Max depth: 22.6mm
Current draw: +12V: 24mA, -12V: 20mA, +5V: 0mA

Polyend Press Analogue Stereo Compressor Effects Pedal
Cat: 1047965 Rel: 31 Oct 24

Analogue stereo compressor effects pedal
Notes: Press is a fully analogue stereo compressor that combines features usually exclusive to professional studio equipment with modern VST controls. It offers the tight, natural response of classic analogue rack units while incorporating unique controls and features not found in other pedals.

Press is an advanced compressor that works anywhere in the signal chain, from finalizing and limiting to adding control after gain staging or taming wild modulation and time-based effects. Dial in the exact amount of desired compression with Ratio and Threshold controls. Dedicated attack and release knobs can create aggressive punch or subtly tame peaks. Roll off the mix knob for New York-style compression to blend the dry and compressed signal, and add some colour with the tilt control to shift the wet signal's EQ balance across the low/high-frequency range.

Press offers unique stereo sidechain control that cannot be found in another analogue compressor pedal. The high and low pass filters work on either the Stereo input or the external stereo sidechain thru. This allows for precise control of the sound triggering the sidechain by stopping problem frequencies from triggering the gain reduction circuit. Use the LPF to filter out the high end of a bass guitar or the HPF to remove the boom from a kick drum to sculpt your sound in ways that were not possible in analogue pedals before. Even with all these features the press is a knob-per-function compressor designed to be simple to set up and operate.

Located in the centre of the instrument is a razor-sharp TFT colour display. In combination with the high quality six-way controller knob, you can navigate through all SL functions fast and with ease. Functions such as switching through the four zones are achieved by moving the controller, and then by clicking and turning the same knob again, you can select and adjust the desired parameter. Simple, intuitive and fast! Additionally, the three pushbuttons to the right of the control knob bring you back to the top-level from any location in the system with just one push.

Real-time control.

The SL offers three X/Y stick controllers, not just for performance but also for direct control and manipulation of any desired sound parameter. Stick one is spring-loaded for both X/Y directions. The typical use for this stick is pitch and modulation control. Stick 2 is spring-loaded in X direction only. Stick 3 is free in X and Y directions, ideal for panning, cross fading and parameter control. All sticks feature an elegant, aluminium control shaft which feels perfectly balanced and expressive between your fingertips.

Magnetic rail system.

With the innovative Magnetic Rail System at the rear of the SL, you can easily adapt a note stand or an extension plate to hold your written notes, music, laptop or tablet. It works as brilliantly easy as it looks. Just click the brackets into the backrail to match the position you need for your accessory items.

Intech Studio Grid EN16 Modular MIDI Controller
Cat: 1032101 Rel: 31 Oct 24

Modular MIDI controller consisting of 16x encoders
Notes: EN16 is made for fine-tuning enthusiasts: this Grid module offers 16 velocity sensitive incremental encoders with infinite rotation and mappable push functionality.

Create separate actions by left and right rotation or add distinguished commands with push rotation. Map banks to the same control or switch immediately from one command to another in just a second using only one module. Unlock potential through the Grid Editor with coarse or fine settings.

Sonicware Lofi-12 XT Low-Resolution Digitised Sampler
Cat: 1032958 Rel: 31 Oct 24

Low-resolution digitised sampler
Notes: Key Features

1) 12/24kHz Early-Digital Sound Sampling

Experience true 12kHz/24kHz sampling combined with the 12-bit Sampler mode, which transforms any sound into a pleasant Early-Digital sound, much like the legendary 12-bit samplers of yesteryear.

Each sample can be up to 40 seconds in length, and you can store as many samples as your SD card capacity allows. From these, you can load up to 256 samples (64MB) into a single project, seamlessly switching between samples during playback.

Samples can also be played using PAD mode, utilizing all 15 pads as a keyboard for chromatic/scale play. You can also chop samples to create and play individual slices within a single track.

2) Intuitive & Non-stop Beat Making

The powerful 8-track sequencer supports un-quantized recording and non-stop editing, allowing you to create tracks and beats in real-time as you hit the pads.

With parameter locking, dynamic parameter recording is a breeze - simply press the REC button and tweak the knobs. You can also input exact values directly using the step buttons.

Using the D-pad Roll, you can choose between 7 re-trigger divisions from 8th to 64th notes, while controlling velocity by a pad pressure.

A single project consists of 128 patterns and 16 songs. It can be used not only for song production, but also for long live performances by connecting songs with non-stop editing and various MUTE modes.?

3) Powerful Signal Processing & Extensive Sample Libraries

Simultaneously utilize 8 track effects, delay, reverb, and master compressor to craft diverse sounds.

Track effects can be selected from 22 effect types, and the master compressor can be side-chained. (Can be switched to the master filter for performance.)

The included SD card contains 2,500+ samples from legendary drum machines like TR-808/909, LM-1, linndrum, DMX, Drumulator, SP-12, Drumtraks and TOM*, to ready-to-use the Early-Digital Sound samples.

4) Effortless Background Mix-Tape Recording

The Mix-Tape recording feature continuously captures all your performances in the background up to three hours.

Recording quality can be selected from six levels, from the lo-fi recording quality of a micro-cassette tape to high quality recording at 48 kHz-16 bit, the same recording quality as DAT.

Whether you're mixing down tracks, recording live performances in their entirety, or extracting choice beats and phrases from your daily jams, you will have a continually expanding resource of your sounds and music at your fingertips.

5) Versatile Connectivity with Other Devices

Import and export audio files via USB or SD card. The Lofi-12XT's unique file convert feature ensures typical audio files with differing sampling bit/rates are transformed into the signature Lofi-12 Sounds.

Connect a wide variety of audio sources, from dynamic microphones, electric guitars/bass, synthesizers, and even USB audio sources from PC/Mac or Smartphones.

With TRS analogue inputs and outputs, digital outputs via USB, and tempo sync through MIDI or audio sync, the Lofi-12XT seamlessly integrates with DAWs and various other devices.

Aodyo Loom 2 Octaves Multi-Dimensional MPE MIDI Controller
Cat: 1017182

Compact Legend
Introduced in 1983 by our parent company Roland, the SDE-3000 is revered for its beautifully rich sound and distinctive modulation. The coveted SDE tone was realized through a finely tuned digital engine and the non-linear behaviours of the supporting analogue circuitry, including magnetic saturation in the anti-alias filter, evolving modulation produced by the components of the time, and an altered triangle LFO shape. The SDE-3 brings the authentic vibe of this classic delay to a pedalboard-friendly BOSS compact, enhanced with innovative creative features for every musical style.

Vintage Colour and Character
Dripping with warmth and musicality, the SDE-3 elevates your tone with endlessly evocative delay sounds. The efficient panel provides the primary controls of its vintage benchmark-including delay time, feedback, and independent rate and depth knobs for the modulation-plus additional knobs that expand your sonic potential. Explore retro single delays and '80s-style mod/delay combos. Or tweak the mod and high-cut controls to conjure moody, atmospheric tonalities for ambient, chill, and lo-fi music.

Offset Magic
Along with reproducing the SDE-3000's famous mono sound, the SDE-3 includes a powerful Offset feature to create interesting tones with two simultaneous delays. With one simple control, you can instantly add a second delay to the primary delay for a wealth of mono and stereo colours.

Doubled Delays-Turning the Offset knob up to its centre position introduces a second delay that's 1-100ms longer than the primary delay. For example, if the primary delay is 400ms and the Offset is 10ms, the second delay's time is 410ms. Coupled with the SDE-3's time, feedback, and highly adjustable modulation controls, you can craft deep delay tones unavailable with typical delay pedals.

Timed Dual Delays-In the second half of its range, the Offset knob produces a shorter second delay that's based on the primary delay time. Use the pedal's tap tempo function to determine the quarter-note value for the primary delay. Next, turn the knob to sweep the second delay's time between eighth-note and dotted-eighth subdivisions. This lets you introduce a variety of rhythmic effects that sync with your music.

Multiple Output Modes
The versatile SDE-3 provides output configurations for any stage or studio scenario. Run it in mono for basic setups. Play in true stereo with discrete left/right delays or a panning mode for ultra-wide sounds that move across the stereo field. Send dry and direct feeds to two amps for wet/dry setups. Or mute the direct sound entirely for studio mixing and parallel effect rigs.

Modern Workflow
The SDE-3 offers numerous control options to enhance your performances. Press and hold the pedal switch to enable the tap tempo function. Or use the TRS MIDI input to receive clock sync signals from DAWs, pedals, and drum machines. Connect external footswitches for on-demand access to tap tempo and a hold function for on-the-fly looping. Alternately, an expression pedal can be used to control the Level, Feedback, and Time knobs for delay mix adjustment, wild pitch effects, and dramatic self-oscillation.

Intech Studio Grid PBF4 Modular MIDI Controller
Cat: 1032084 Rel: 31 Oct 24

Modular MIDI controller consisting of 4x potentiometers, 4x buttons & 4x faders
Notes: From subtle adjustments to expressive performances, this versatile combination of control elements definitely won't disappoint you.

Includes metal shaft faders with medium resistance, smooth-turning knobs and sturdy buttons. Control your most used parameters, like expression, modulation and volume with the PBF4 Grid.

Equipped with customisable multi-coloured LED lights to enable labelling in dark environments. Facilitate differentiating each potmeter by changing the colour of each indicator LED, adjusting brightness levels individually or adding pulsing animations. All configurable in the Grid Editor.

Thanks to its compact and lightweight structure, the PBF4 is a fully ergonomic parameter controller with classical control elements in a slim modular design. Four banks, 4x possible configuration mappings switchable on the fly.

Grid controllers are built with quality control elements. After numerous iterations the potentiometers have been carefully chosen to allow a firm grip and a stable control experience enabled by special shaft bushings.

The modules are made to withstand everyday studio use as well as the intense performances during tours. For connecting several Grids together, a flat surface or the use of our module stands is recommended.

Tangible Waves AE Modular uCASE 12x uModules Enclosure Case
Cat: 1012268

Enclusre case designed to fit 12x uModules
Notes: The uCASE is designed to hold AE micro modules of 1/3 size. It is available in the same widths like the other AE cases (12, 16, 20 units). It contains sockets for uModules over the whole width, so no need for extra carriers for the uModules. The uModules can be plugged in and removed easily, even with the AE system running, so you can reconfigure or add needed functions in form of micro modules "on the fly".

The bus connection to the parent case is made with a short ribbon cable, so the uCASE gets it's power supply plus other bus lines from there.

The functionality is basically the same as the uBASE module; here, to groups of four uModules the bus lines lie CV, GATE, MIDI clock etc. can be assigned individually (not used by the currently available uModules, but will become relevant for future uModules).

Included is a small "key" to lift also modules without knobs in an easy way.
