A Beladen Date 4 Ever (10:44)
Transport Fighter (9:43)
Review: Baby Ford's Trelik label is as revered as they come in underground circles. Ion Ludwig is not far behind when it comes to his productions and so the two are a perfect match who reunite once more here. This fresh 12" kicks off with the brain cleansing minimalism of 'A Beladen Date 4 Ever', a silky groove doused in harmonic chords, with swirling pads and rubbery bass all tightly intertwining. 'Transport Fighter' is a more punchy cut with thudding kicks and heftier bass, but still a nebulous eco-system of pads and melodies swirling around up top. Two killer cuts. no doubt.

Released in 2001, it's genreally accepted to be the high weatermark for minimal, and here's it's been lovingly remastered by Dubplates & Mastering and comes blessed with two unheard-til-now corkers from the same sessions - Mark Broom's mix of 'RTDC' and 'In The Bag'. Review: DJ Sneak is in a great run of form right now, which is all the more impressive given that he has been turning out his signature house sounds for more than 30 years now. The self-declared House Gangster recently impressed on Dam Swindle's Heist Recordings label and now makes this way to the always-assured Toy Toncis outlet. He offers up four cuts that veer away from his loop, filter-heavy house into more edgy and late-night minimal and techno but with the robust sound design and compelling sense of underlying groove that you always expect from the man.

Review: Make Your Own Meaning continues to convey its unique techno message with a new statement of intent from label head Lurka. The artist has been busy of late and continues to be on a roll with another fascinating four tracker that genuinely serves up some original sounds and rhythms. 'Trip' gets things underway with organic percussive patterns stacked up over drilling bass to make for a prickly groove. 'Airlock' is similar but darker and heavier and 'Sick Flips' keeps the nimble feel going with dancing perc, rigid synths and scratchy sound effects all coalescing over broken drum patterns. Last of all is another dense, busy and multi-layered melange of tiny percussive sounds, synths and clipped rhythms that will make any floor move.

Review: Dave Clarke's Red Series remains a vital benchmark in the evolution of UK techno. Released between 1993 and 1996, the three-volume run even managed to brush the UK top 40 back in the good old days when anything felt possible. Tracks like 'Wisdom To The Wise' will forever be etched in the make up of techno, and for very good reason. Now the whole series is being given a lavish reissue treatment which takes in all the original releases along with additional discs of rare, archival tracks and remixes, all bundled up in a box with a booklet and autographed by the Baron himself.

Storm (7:45)
Hondo (7:13)
Review: Aniara is a label that ostensibly deals in deep house but you will never hear a standard tune on any of their releases. There is always an innovative sense of melody or intriguing balance between drive and emotion in everything they put out. Next to prove that point is Chefone with Storm. The title track opens up with a dubbed-out cut that is backed by the celestial glow of an angelic pad. Glistening shards of light also puncture the groove to make for something delightfully unusual. 'Hondo' takes up the whole of the flip with a heavy but mid-tempo deep house rhythm embellished with wispy pads and flickering static.

Rickie - "Smile In The Dark" (6:36)
O'FortyFour - "Ambulancia" (5:57)
Review: Following an instantly sold out first EP back in December, Ukrainian label Tancido is back with a various artists follow up that keeps the quality levels high. Miles kick off with the deep and mysterious tech house of 'Reclamation' with its deft alien sound designs and punchy subs. Komponente, Kurilo & Saxr join forces for a three-way collaboration 'Mysterium Tremendum' that keeps up the future facing, post-industrial tech house sounds with more searching synths and muted human voices. Rickie's 'Smile In The Dark' is a drunken bubbler to get you off balance and O'FortyFour's 'Ambulancia' gets tripped out over a motorik kick.

Secret Chamber (Pressure dub) (6:02)
Review: We're not going to apologise for once again declaring our love for the work of UK veteran Steve O'Sullivan. His work in the dub techno sphere is right up there with celebrated Berlin brethren's like Maurizio. This new single 'Secret Chamber' comes on Salon in three different forms. Up first is the Dark Mix which is powered by icy cold hi-hats and drums that flap in a cavernous chamber of warming chords. The original is fuller and comes with some deft paranoid vocal touches and watery droplets of synth while the closing Pressure dub leans into the groove more and has an eerie edge.

Review: Kimochi Sound welcomes back regular artist Shielding for another standout entry into the label's catalogue, this time on wax with a lovely hand-sprayed sleeve. It's a deep exploration of supple rhythm here with 'Ceiling Licker' mix up diffuse ambient arps and organic sounds from the great outdoors with a bubbling bassline. 'Hundred' is a trippy late night cut with a ghostly atmosphere and muted bells and chords drifting into earshot from way off in the distance. 'Kvadrat' is a late-night collaboration with Maeteriet from Sewer Sender Records that overlays a rubbery minimal rhythm with deft synth details and curious hooks to make for dark but ultimately charming listening.

Rhythmystic (7:02)
Bass Jam (8:01)
Urban Whispers (4:50)
Binary Technologies (6:36)
Review: Munir Nadir has been breaking through in the past few years with essential releases on 4Plae, Nuts On Board and Outcast Planet. Now he's minting a new label called Odd One Tape out of Italy, and bringing his playful, synth-rich sound with him. There's a nod to Italo and 80s electro in the sampling and throbbing, analogue groove of 'Rhythmistic', while 'Bass Jam' tips more towards the early 00s electro house boom a la Tiefschwarz and Tomas Andersson. 'Urban Whispers' has a more jackin' flavour with some low down sub freakiness thrown in for good measure, and 'Binary Technologies' brings the heat on the B2 with a powerful arpeggio and hard-slapping drums.

Perro Balearico (Gabriel Rai remix) (6:09)
Review: RFXN kicks off life with a new single from David Agrella which has seen early support from Ricardo Villalobos. First off he offers up his own Acid Mix of 'Perro Balearico' and it's a supple, deep and dubby track with liquid synths and prog chords that sound both retro and future all at once. The original is a more dreamy and spaced-out sound for 5 am sessions. On the flip is a more punch but still silky and warmly melodic remix from Mario Liberti before last of all, Gabriel Rai gets darker. His drums hit harder and the synths are moodier as he takes dancers down a late-night path of mystery and intrigue.

Review: An air of mystery surrounds this new While My Sequencer Gently Bleeps project, but what we do know is that they have two superb EPs dropping at the start of 2024. This one, OK, opens with 'Amber' which is a nice undulating and deep cut with lush synth smears. 'Emptiness' hangs synths in the air over more lithe broken beats and 'Felt' is a stripped back rhythm with majestic chords, blurts, bleeps and more all adding colour. 'Hesitation' and 'Burton' round out this sublimely supple and subtle synth record.

Review: Kulture Galerie has got off to a superb start with a release that got the attention of big names such as Laurent Garnier, Midland and Vladimir Ivkovic. The pressure is on, in that case, to follow that up with a second release that makes just as much impact and the label passes the test with flying colours with a various artists' collection featuring some big names. Chief amongst them are Detroit don John Beltran with his scintillating hi-tek soul workout 'Canarias', and Bohm with the densely woven synth layers and dusty drum programming over the gorgeous 'Tactical Options!' Add in the more hard edge drums of 'Metropolitan Soul Museum's 'Negative Mouth', the melodic elegance of 'Bankastraat' and the acid madness of Tramic's 'Lanterns' and you have a vital 12".

Distopic (Jinger remix) (6:56)
Stereo Eyes II (8:19)
Distopic (Traumer Dusty dub) (6:37)
Review: Traumer's ever-astute label curation comes to the forefront once again as Priku and Dinu team up for a standout release drawing on their talents in the field of minimal tech house. 'Distopic' leads the way as a crafty hint towards the strutting energy of disco within a focused techno framework, not so much a minimal workout as a lean slice of four-to-the-floor synth pressure. 'Stereo Eyes II' keeps up the energy, but this time there's a mystical, sundown set vibe at play which conjures the early Goa scene as much as any influence. For remixes, Singer was invited to remix 'Distopic' and turn it into a bumping, dubby joint, while Traumer dials the track in deep for a perfectly described 'Dusty Dub'.

Review: Silat Beksi returns to RAWAX with his new release, 'Keep It Real'! On the A -Side we hear Beksi's trademark minimal techfunk with 'Impress Me', which delivers lilting stabs against a skeletal yet weighty beat backdrop. 'Keep It Real' errs on the breaksier side, while the B-Side hears a team-up with Aman aka. Review: Frank Staniek has previous form in the minimal tech house scene as Frank Sonic, recording for the likes of Trapez and My Best Friend. Now he's helping shape out the sound of new San Jose label Wild Palms Trax by laying down the second release under a new alias, Link Gaetz. This is minimal delivered with a crisp focus, from the deliciously pointed 'El Camino' to the deep-diving 'Floripa'. The rhythm section is precision tooled and the atmospherics walk the line between escapism and restraint with ease. 'Cactaceae' is a freakier offering on the flip, but it's still looped up for a direct hit, while 'Into The Redwoods' plays around with vocal hooks and synth riffs for something more like an end-of-set knees up, minimal style.

Review: Jordan GCZ is back on Rawax in quick fashion after the Dizzy Dizzy Dizzy release from earlier in 2023. The machine-jamming maestro is at his best dealing in cosmically-charged techno, and that's exactly what he delivers on this latest record. 'Polyphonic Glide' is swathed in mysterious pads and soulful leads which offset the steady-trucking drive of the drums beautifully. 'Why So Serious' is a subtly bumping cut with a hazy, after hours atmosphere, while 'Sunny Side Up' deals in squashed funk and sparkling arps before 'Undercurrent' takes us home on a bed of celestial synth tones and submerged rhythms. The consistent feel of the record makes it a true delight to melt into - a techno record for sure dreamers.

Plenty of big-names over the years have made their mark, often more than once, and now it is the turn of the famously long-playing New York titan Danny Tenaglia to show us what he's made of. He brings his signature grooves and a hint of Latin flavour to proceedings on this, a third and final installment of his trilogy for the series. It is mostly contemporary names serving up new school sounds but all delivered with Danny's cultured and old school DJ mentality.

Having recently dropped the PROTO single on their Second State label, the Berlin duo present their third studio album. As that upfront single confirms, Pan-Pot are here to have fun with assistance from the likes of Hugh Betcha laying down a pitched-down spoken word turn that feels like big room Berlin techno in a nutshell. Across this ten-deep album, there are a lot of avenues explored as Pan-Pot demonstrate the depth and breadth of their vocabulary within the modern techno lexicon.

Get Out (7:52)
Review: Romanian label Lok has described Nu Zau's first appearance on the imprint as a "cutting edge masterpiece". While that may be a touch on the hyperbolic side, it's true that the Bucharest-based producer has delivered a fine three-tracker in his distinctive "Ro-minimal" style. A-side 'Synthetic', a typically off-kilter slab of trippy minimal house marked out by surprisingly funky clavinet sounds, mind-mangling vocal snippets, locked-in drums and impeccable sound design, is our pick of the bunch. Elsewhere, 'Traumatised' sees Nu Zau make great use of mangled, warehouse-ready rave riffs, raw acid lines and crunchy drums, while 'Get Out' is deep and dubby in tone, with bursts of jazz fills, rubbery bass and woozy chords.

Review: Mega eerie techno from Germany's own Michael Melchner, proving techno can indeed be done differently, not least when its groceries are in season. Active since 2008, springboarding his career with the label and masters of German uniformity and drab, Cargo Edition, Melchner has since flown the nest into further-afield aerations with Paragram, Bloop Recordings and now, Different Times. 'New World Supermarket' truly sounds to be a grim sort, with the title track, together with the ensuing 'The Voyeur', 'Anatomicouture', and 'Kolonne Null', painting a rather anxious, suspenseful and brutalist picture of future grocery shopping. The closing track is something of a cathartic let-up compared to the first three, its pace relatively downtempo and its choice of samples roomy and sci-fi, though the creep factor still ever-so-slightly remains.

Mutant electro is the order of the day, as Roberts mines his considerable experience to edge distinctive qualities into classic machine funk. A subtle sprinkling of discord here, a grubbiness in the signal chain there, and you have yourself a rock solid record which edges past the pretenders to hold its own as a legit slice of contemporary electro you'll actually want to pop and lock to.

Review: Some breathless, energy-packed, party-starting brilliance here, as rave-loving Londoner HUD makes his Rekids label debut. In its' original mix form, 'Sugar' is a dirty, atmospheric, breakbeat-driven peak-time house bomb packed with jangling paino riffs, filthy bass and punchy beats, all topped off with a fantastically weary and emotive female lead vocal. Predictably, the accompanying remixes are pretty darn tidy too. Mark Broom delivers a storming and pumping techno version - all thunderous kick drums, breakbeat blasts, lilting lead lines and bouncy pianos - while DJ Deep gives the track a slight hip-house feel via funky breaks, cut-up, Todd Edwards style vocal cut-ups and chunky bass.

It is now nearing its 50th EP and the quality hasn't dropped a bit as this latest 12" proves. Title cut 'Down Is The New Up' is a pretty lively sound for Ruh - her usual dusty and deep drum are overlaid with percussive clatter and some wild synth sounds that eventually melt away to delicate keys and horns. 'Pro Vita' then slips into more signature and smoky deep house territory next to the raw tech house textures of 'She Said.'

Review: It's time for all minimal fans to jump aboard the Leitmovtif train once more here with this decent split EP from En and Orbit. The latter invites us into his world first with 'Hey Tobit' which is nice and lively tech brought to life with scurrying synths, well-designed effects and a nice sense of colour. 'Niagara' then pairs delightfully cosmic-sounding melodic motifs with a glossy tech house kick. En's 'Laboratorium' keeps things classy with another forward-thinking mix of barmy astral synth designs and effective, stylish drum programming. Last of all, 'Dream About' gets a little trippy with its chilly cowbells, smeared pads and heady atmosphere.

This time once again it is the artist's own Dote label that serves up these four cuts - only the label's 5th EP in some four years. 'Sapphire Tomb' pulls off that fine Junes trick of being both dreamy and deep yet dynamic. It's got smooth chords and tight drum programming that takes you to the stars where you then get worked over by the acid undulations and glistening tech of 'Head-Free Dose'. 'Heritage AD' veers towards supple, mind-melting Jeff Mills-style deep techno and 'Rounded' then ends on a prickly acid jacker. Versatile and vital.

Wruhme's music has always stood to the side of the standardised scene, and so it goes on this new one for Tulpa Ovi which passes through a variety of shades of 4/4 without ever sounding like anything else. Sometimes the composition his fragile and beautiful, elsewhere there's a looming creepiness pitched squarely at the night. ABT-6 (7:12)

Tracys (7:12)
Review: For the past six years George Gavanescu has been gathering momentum as a producer of note in the minimal tech house scene, building out his FLoog name with a self-titled label as well strong turns on labels like Atipic, Botanic Minds, TARTOUFFE and Visionquest. He's now linked up with Audionik for a trip into cyclical, hypnotic gear of the highest calibre, kicking off with the shimmering synth figures of 'Tra Cys' and progressing to the trippy arps and dubby impressions of '004A1'. 'Puerto' adds some melancholic tension thanks to the chimes hovering over the mix, while 'ABT-6' deals in vintage techno tropes pitched at gentler parts of a party. Throughout, Gavanescu keeps the motion in the ocean through his finely sculpted rhythms, making this flexible fodder for any tech house session you find yourself soundtracking.

Review: Ourtime Music has proven itself to deal in the more sophisticated end of the deep tech spectrum today and D Ball fits that MO perfectly here. His Moments EP opens with elegant depths, meaningful keys, and dreamy chords over an icy minimal rhythm. 'Fall' then explores a world of airy broken beats and more gently twisted synths that hang above the dancefloor. Things get flipped for the final cut, 'Iam Pro', which is a mental techno workout with frosty textures and intense modulations tying your mind in knots.

Singing (10:45)
Freaking (13:56)
Review: The mysterious Creature is back with the seventh release on the blazing hot self-titled label. We have a clue who is behind this label but we aren't 100% sure who is making these impressive slabs of house music. For this edition, 'Singing' cleverly picks out a few lines from Moloko's 'Sing It Back' and turns it into dancefloor devastation. On the second side is the exceptionally dirty and sleezy grinder called 'Freaking'. Both, when used properly, should wreak havoc on the floor and make serious waves in the minimal techno world.

Festival Of Love (8:02)
Wolcke 7 (7:22)
Review: Boris Brejcha's distinctive style of 'high-tech minimal' has earned him much credo over the years, enough to warrant the rerelease of several of his most enduring tracks under the recently embarked-upon Classics series. The tracks this time around are 'Festival Of Love' and 'Wolcke 7', originally released in 2007 and 2008 respectively on the Harthouse label before taking the international minimal scene by storm. Though they're both shuffling, popcorny sundowners for those who like it clean, classy and glassy, these tracks explore different zones, with the A-sider far jankier than the more accessible B.

Game One (S2 - Sci-fi Xicano remix) (5:41)
Review: Juan Atkins released some of the funkiest, dreamiest techno of his imperious career as Infiniti. a collaboration with Orlando Voorn,. 'Game One' originally came out on Metroplex in 1994 and it's since become an essential part of the Detroit techno canon. On this release for Kontakt we're treated to some visionary remixes of the track from trusted experts, leading in with Steve Rachmad's pumped up, springy rendition on the A-side. It's a version which upholds the machine soul sensibility of the original, paying all due respect to the blueprint Atkins laid down as a Detroit techno pioneer. On the flip we get treated to two contrasting versions from Santiago Salazar, with his first take heading into interstellar electro territory before casting adrift on the deep house-tinted 'Sci-Fi Xicano Remix'.

The TS Chronicles (5:36)
Review: Lapse Records welcomes Los Primos here as they debut their excellent new EP Under-Stompin'. This fresh project is the brainchild of Toronto's Cosmic JD and Aaron Santos, both affiliated with the Hypnotic Mindscapes label and party collective. They showcase their singular take on tight, twitchy cosmic tech house across a quartet of its that start with the snappy snare work of 'What We're On' before 'Primitive Holiday' (feat Masayuki Tomita) is more raw and coarse with sharp hits and spraying basslines. 'Vicky's Out 4 Blud' (feat Nicolas Cage) takes things into a more cosmic direction and the 'The TS Chronicles' is a warped afters banger.

Rebirth In Dissolution (15:11)
Reasonings (13:02)
Review: Supersanity is a new alias from Ada Kaleh who says he will use it to make music that offers "a safe space to explore your senses through the trance-dance experience." He brings together both body and mind with this first EP on his own new self-titled label which kicks off with 'Rebirth In Dissolution.' It's a min epic with both deft synths and more weight bass offsetting one another as the astral pads and distant cosmic waves all add detail to this most out there of cuts. There is a more prominent drive to 'Reasonings' with its loopy tech house drums and ever-rising synth arps. A great start to a promising new label.

Review: The Cocoon alphabet compilation is an always timely snapshot of the year in techno that was. It's well-curated by label head Sven Vath and always digs into several different sub-genres with a knowing skill. Now up to letter U, it is still going strong as we dive into everything from the soft and dreamy acid-laced deep techno delights of New Jackson's 'Acid Jackson' to the more bright and intense sounds of Jakob Reiter's 'Il Rotori'. Drumcomplex & Frank Sonic provide more epic peak time moments with 'Lacalute' and Space Dimension Controller's deft synth flourishes on 'Cold Tunings' make for a gorgeous high-speed techno trip.

Review: Ten year anniversary? Has it really already been ten years since Recondite's sophomore album 'Hinterland' came out?! Recondite almost single-handedly was responsible in many peoples eyes for the resurgence in techno during the early 2010s. After beating down the doors of Ghostly International for many years, the fans finally get their wish in the shape a new, shiny reissue. Coming on smokey black vinyl this time, nobody has a reason to not have this record in their collection. Included are legendary tracks like 'Stems', 'Clouded' and 'Leafs'. Many think that not only is this the best Recondite album but one of the best techno albums of the year 2013.

Review: Adam's Bite is back with more tasty minimal and tech house morsels here as Red Pig Flower steps up for a quartet of tunes that head into all new realms. 'We Need Space' is a busy, multi-layered mix of sleek synths and metallic drums sound with paranoid vocals weaving their way in and out. After an instrumental version comes 'Separation', a more heavy and heady roller with bleeping synth sequences and bumpy drum funk sure to lock in the late-night dancers. Last of all is 'The Feeling' with a rich and rubbery low end that is topped by alluring vocals smears and wiggling leads.

Review: Vicari brings some superb machine funk to this new EP on OGE. 'Angela' opens up with wobbly low ends that, to our ears, pay little tribute to a classic Mylo vs Miami Sound Machine riff, that are offset by snappy drums and some lush swirling melodies. After the fleshy and deeper dub comes 'My Spell' which is more bubbly, trippy and loose with its glistening sci-fi- pads and squelchy bass. The third and final original is a third different sound - 'Isolated From My Self'. This one is a jumbled of off-grid hits and detuned keys that brings great unbalance to the dance floor.

Review: Rawax call on some contemporary big dogs for this new EP which features two Wareika tracks, both of them made in collaboration with various other artists. First up it is Lost Souls of Saturn aka Seth Troxler and Phil Moffa who step up with 'United'. It's a dubbed out cut awash with glistening and cosmic electronics and a funky minimal rhythm that has a cool vibe. It is perennial underground minimal favourite Sonja Moonear who then appears on the flipside joint 'That Conga' which is busier and more indebted to decor with its shimming synths and crispy rhythms.

Review: Darker Than Wax welcomes back Malik Hendricks for a new EP that was recorded in Brooklyn in 2020 and 2021 by the American-born, Lisbon-based producer. And it marks something of a shift in his musical journey as he moves away from the sample-heavy sound he is known for and towards more organic grooves with hints of Midwest funk and techno. There is an electro flavour to the opener, sleazy ghetto house flourish to 'Fiyahverkx' and broken beat minimalism to 'Totem.' On the flip comes 'The Money Dance' which is the best of the lot - a soul-drenched and elastic house jam with quality chords and keys.

Review: Class Compliance's brand of deep house is one embellished with plenty of details and synthetic sounds that sit nicely with the more cuddly depths of the drums. On this new 'Plug & Play' EP for Space Repetitions that is the case once more. The opening title cut is one that rides on smooth drums but has metal textures and sine synths detailing the grooves. 'Dreams' is more zoned out - the pads are soft focus and the drums are super soft around the edges, then 'Mosquito' has a more distorted and lo-fi edge with crunchy percussion and busted kicks.
