Review: The fourth release on Manchester-focused label Ad Hoc brings together a range of outernational grooves from some fast-rising talents. Cervo is aligned with the Banana Hill parties, and also previously released on Black Acre and Lumberjacks In Hell. His "Hesse Groove" takes a mellow, spaced out approach to dusty machine-powered house, while Taurtollo gets into a bongo-heavy jam for the eclectic warm up session. Chambers' "The Gentleman" is a loose and smooth jazzy number that revolves around a few key samples to create its seductive vibe, and then Yadava finishes the EP off with the free-roaming double bass exploration of "Kadampa 125."

Review: Croatian duo Eddy Meets Yannah are no strangers to the Compost empire and their return to the Compost Black sub label sees tracks from the duo's recent album "Fiction Jari"remixed by some serious house heads. Rainer Truby teams up with Danilo Plessow aka Motor City Drum Ensemble to transform "This Is Love" into a late night jam replete with excellent vocal effects. The same track is given a sparkling jazzy house gloss by Restless Soul type Bopstar. On the flip "Follow Me" gets a squelching tropical house retouch from Dominican producer Ezel.

Review: Rhythm Plate's re-emergence through their Pressed For Time label continues apace on this second release, a split 12" that pairs a new cut from Matlock's finest with solo productions from Ant Plate as YSE and YSE Saint Laurent. Hissy warehouse beats, simple chord vamps and Rapturous oh-vocals characterise YSE's dryish yet muscular "99% Invisible", whilst Plate's YSE Saint Laurent contribution "When You Love Me" pairs some R&B vocal sampling with drawn out synths and wispy percussion placed on top of a grooving bassline similar to Bernard Badie's '09 Mojuba hit "Move To The Beat". Rhythm Plate's submission, "I Think I've Dreamed This Before" adds a warming calmness to the EP, allowing a spirited synth line to traverse its arrangement like a geisha float-walking through an Japanese garden of snowy arpeggios and moss covered basslines.

Review: On his new record for Crosstown Rebels, rising tech house trooper Russ Yallop creates the kind of sinister n' sexy electro-house-pop that has been setting alight the likes of Hot Natured and Visionquest, helped no end by an edgy vocal turn from Aimee Sophia. Huxley gets busy for a remix, bringing forth some brighter elements from the keys to the New Jersey swing, while the electro bassline gets swapped for some rude garage antics. There's a decidedly different dub version from Huxley as well that takes a moodier tone, and then original jam "How I Feel" rounds proceedings off with a bleep-inflected broody mover.

Review: The African vibes come raining down heavy from Japanese producer Atsushi Yano on this offering for Let's Play House's white label series. "Stomping On The Verge" is a thrilling ride through wild samples and a wall-of-sound production approach that piles on organ, guitar licks and an army of rolling percussion, while "Solid Gold" lets the source material breathe a little more as the filter drifts in and out with that Theo Parrish style of movement, keeping the instruments uncluttered in the mix and just playing with the EQs so you don't have to. "Allegro After Dark" gets into a more refined kind of house roll, letting the Afrobeat samples merge into a more modern kind of sound peppered with beautifully jazzy chords. Jacques Renault meanwhile drops a remix of "Stomping The Verge" that simmers the original down into a tracky club groove to great effect.

Review: Deep house imprint Ornate reaches its landmark 10th release with YSE (pronounced 'easy' in case you were wondering), a man who in his own words "enjoys nicely syncopated rhythms, heavy melodies, outgoing quirkiness and a quality glass full of cheap Brandy and Coke - hold the ice", all of which - bar the cheap Brandy and Coke - are in full effect on this frankly awesome Drawn At Dawn EP. "Gelly" and the mischievously titled "Who's Got The Clap?" vie for your attention on the A Side, with the mechanical chords, sparkling groove and masterfully arranged vocal samples of the latter proving to be the highlight. Sprawled across the B Side you'll find a Chi-town bassline flexing against dreamy Motor City atmospherics and some nice pan pot percussion.

Review: This fourth release from Pressed For Time is the label's second various artist EP featuring three known names and one new. The newcomer is Ben 'Boe Recordings' Boe under his Maad Maxx Traxxe alias. He provides "Lakeshore Rollin", a linear, dub-tinged slice of thwacking deep house. YSE top and tails this 12" with a chiming, rhode-cruising "Tomorrows Yesterday", while his B2 is slower and woozy with a killer smacking hit on the offbeat. Label regular Rhythm Plate also features with the vocal lead "I, The Music".

Review: Zoo Brazil are respected house producers who have released tracks on Get Physical, Music For Freaks, Playhouse, Loaded, Dessous, Airtight and Harthouse. Zoo Brazil has got a bumping house CV that easily stands its own ground. Here, "Make You Mine" comes as a bit of a surprise, because the tempo has been slowed to 115 BPM. They have also included swirling sexy Euro tinged vocals over banks of fat and fuzzy synths, resulting in a good dose of steamy sleaze. Pete Heller takes to the controls supplying the remix and a dub. Up goes the tempo and it's straight in with some big room action, as funky house rhythms collide with Yellow Magic Orchestra influenced keys. Pete Heller is on a roll and recently remixing Underworld, Shapeshifters Persephone and The Bees and has recently released the club smash "Simpler" on his own Phela imprint. After a period with Parlophone/EMI, Junior returned to its independent label roots, and continues to work with the most exciting talents in dance music today.
