Review: This is the first Suede release with a co-writing credit for guitarist Richard Oakes, who succeeded Bernard Butler. Oakes is on the b-side 'Together', while the a-side - the best track on Suede's iconic second album Dog Man Star - is credited to the legendary plankspanker Butler. 'New Generation' is a beautiful blend of Manic Street Preachers-esque rock with Bowie and T-Rex-esque glam - it's a perfect pop song. Singer Brett Anderson is at his hooky and melodic best here. Meanwhile, 'Together' takes a more Stone Roses-y blues rock direction and it's tougher with more bile, but still majestic thanks to the lush wall of sound that Suede do so well, whilst retaining their hard rock DNA.

Review: Suede's 'The Wild Ones', released as a single in November 1994, is widely regarded as a defining moment in the band's career. Featured on Dog Man Star, the track shows Brett Anderson and Bernard Butler at their creative peak, with Anderson often calling it his favorite Suede song. The haunting ballad stands out for its atmospheric, semi-acoustic production, enhanced by delicate orchestration, giving the song a timeless, melancholic feel. Anderson's emotive vocal delivery complements the lush arrangement, creating a poignant reflection on lost love. The B-side, 'Modern Boys', adds further value to the single, despite not making the final Dog Man Star tracklist. Review: As part of the Suede30 campaign, Demon Records will release Suede's fifth, sixth, seventh and eighth singles as collectible 7" picture discs, featuring the original cover art. Among them, 'We Are The Pigs,' released on September 12, 1994, stands out as the lead single from the Dog Man Star album. The single is a great blend of Bernard Butler's dynamic riff and Brett Anderson's haunting lyrics with the sing-along chorus that has a sinister twist. The single reached number 18 on the UK charts. The B-side, 'The Killing Of A Flash Boy,' while not included on the album, is considered a lost gem by Brett Anderson, reflecting its enduring appeal.

Review: Hyped at the time as 'the Suede record Brett Anderson raps on' - in fact, it's more of a spoken word monologue - 'Stay Together' followed the Britpop instigators' hugely successful Dog Man Star debut album and pointed the way forward for future experimentation away from their core Bowie/glam flash rock. It remains their highest charting single having peaked at number three in the UK charts (an honour it shares with 'Trash') and here, part of Demon's Suede singles reissue campaign, comes backed another non album track 'The Living Dead'.

Review: As part of a comprehensive reissue of Suede's early singles and albums - the songs which earned them the early 90s limelight - comes this reissued 7" picture-disc version of 'So Young' and 'High Rising'. Both featuring on the self-titled debut from 1993, these were but two of the tracks that contributed to Suede's rise to stardom, and which help to cement their impressive selling of 100,000 copies in their first week. Foreboding a full, newly-mastered edition of the album, these two throwbacks are a reminder of what makes a band great in its early incarnation.
