Cravo - "Cosmic Drift" (5:52)
Benza - "Mech Encounter" (4:54)

Marcal - "Lua" (5:02)
Habgud - "False Flag" (4:59)
Obscure Shape - "Elemental" (Cleric 5/10 remix) (5:33)
Review: Clergy is rightly making a big deal of arching the big one-oh with a fifth instalment of its fine Clergy 10 Years series. This various artists excursion is another blistering one that opens with Cravo's rubbery and rumbling 'Cosmic Drift' before Benza breaks up the beats into more chunky, cantering and swinging affairs on 'Mech Encounter.' Julieta Kopp drills deep into a heady cosmic minimalism on 'Nothing Feels Right', then Marcal's 'Lua' brings some grit and grime and Habgud's 'False Flag' is a pared-back and dubby sound with paranoid whispers. Last of all is the mind-melting Obscure Shape cut 'Elemental' (Cleric 5/10 remix) for a nice eerie finish.

Cv313 - "Spectral Vector" (9:09)
Taction - "Caesious" (7:10)
Hidden Sequence - "Azteca" (7:37)
Fletcher - "A Distant Place" (8:26)
Review: Alt-dub never quite found its mainstream moment, but for those attuned to its intricacies, it remains a defining undercurrent in electronic music. Unlike its dubstep cousin, which relied on aggressive basslines and in-your-face drops, alt-dub takes a more measured approach, focusing on subtlety and complexity. It's about crafting a vibe, not smashing through it. San Francisco-based artist Federsen has been a pivotal figure in this niche for over a decade, using vintage tape delays and analogue gear to build immersive, textured soundscapes. His work with labels like Silent Season, Greyscale, Lempuyang and Ohm Series perfectly embodies how dub's elements of space, decay and resonance can be transformed into hypnotic, dancefloor-driven rhythms that unfold slowly. Tracks like 'Dub Trail' and 'Silent Whispers' reflect Federsen's signature approach: slow, deliberate builds, where the bassline is felt more than heard, and the subtle shifts in atmosphere draw us into the groove. It's not about immediate impact, but rather about crafting a space where the music breathes and where the transitions are felt as much as they are heard. 'Echoes In The Void' pushes this idea even further, with its dense, evolving layers of sound, while 'Lunar Dub' offers a more stripped-back, meditative experience. Through Federsen's work, the genre stands as an exploration of depth and atmosphere, where every moment of silence and every drawling transition plays an integral part in the experience.

Jungle Love (5:36)
On & On & On (9:46)
Review: Sub Basics's Temple Of Sound is back with new music from Henry Greenleaf who appears under his new moniker, Greenteeth. It is a project he is clearly using to cook up smart back room minimal sounds going off this evidence: 'Loxton' is a slow motion and prowling groove but one with deep, menacing bass and nice louche percussion. 'Jungle Love' is another subversive sound with a snaking rhythm and dubby low ends, dusty hi hats and late night mischief. Last of, 'On & On & On' plays out over all of the flipside with shuffling drums that are light and airy and topped with wispy drones. It's delightfully hypnotic.

Henrik Villard - "Woodfall Temple" (6:40)
Henrik Villard - "Woodfall Temple" (Cooper Saver remix) (6:34)
Review: Oslo-based Boring Crew Records launches its catalogue with a six-track split featuring Anders Hajem and Henrik Villard. Hajem opens with 'Oasen', a slow-building chugger built from dark low-end and minimal phrasing. 'Praerien' pushes further into low-slung territory, layering tension through repetition and restraint. Perkules strips 'Oasen' back into an even drier mix, swapping atmosphere for sub-heavy functionality. On the B-side, Villard's 'Cowgirl' cuts in sharply with rough drums and a clipped vocal texture. 'Woodfall Temple' takes a different route i slightly swung, more percussive and bordering on meditative without losing focus. Cooper Saver's remix of the same track lifts the tempo and adds layered synth work that edges toward trance but never fully breaks format. The sequencing holds together well with contrasting versions that avoid redundancy i a clear and well-measured first release from the label, with enough variation to keep future output open-ended.

The Way You Love Me (Dim TSOP version - Dimitri From Paris Glitterbox retouch) (8:14)
The Way You Love Me (Tom Moulton Philly Re-Grooved remix) (12:54)
Review: Some may argue that Dimitri From Paris and Tom Moulton have already provided the definitive remixes of Ron Hall, the Muthafunkaz and Marc Evans' 2006 gem "The Way You Love Me". This Glitterbox 12", which features alternative versions of those two legendary reworks, proves that they're wrong. Dimitri's "Glitterbox Retouch" of his Philadelphia International-inspired TSOP Version is a little more focused and tightly edited than its predecessor, but naturally incredibly similar. It's Moulton's "Philly Regrooved Mix", though, that's the real stunner. A near perfect example of Moulton's classic mixing skills, it sees the original disco mixer give space to each instrumental solo before unleashing the now oh-so-familiar vocal. The result is 13 minutes of unashamed disco bliss.

Review: The late great Ron Hardy had as much influence on DJing and club culture as anyone before or since. It's not just what he played, but how he played it that set the standard from his legendary residency at the Music Box - not least the fact that he often had the highs squealing out of his system because they were the frequencies that had most impact on him while he was high on heroin. His productions all reflect his approach in the booth, and this latest collection of classics is back with rising disco, rawness, low-slung funk and high-speed, feel-good disco bliss.

Summer's Over (2:26)
Running Thru My Mind (2:15)
Freedom Rides (1:47)
Treat Me Like A Man (2:19)
Review: Brooklyn-born Dennis Harte might only have been eleven when he picked up a Sears Silvertone, but the music on this anthologyirecorded between 1973 and 1974iis anything but juvenile. Collected here for the first time on a single release, these four singles originally appeared under shifting monikers (Dennis Harte, Harte Attack, Harte Brothers and Pure Madness), a strategy cooked up by mentor Carl Edelson to maximise industry exposure. The sound veers between garage soul, basement psych, and scrappy blue-eyed r&bian adolescent echo of The Rascals, The Youngbloods or early Spoonful. 'Summer's Over', written by Edelson, is the emotional peak: a world-weary soul lament, rendered uncanny by Harte's teenaged delivery. 'Running Thru My Mind' plays it cooler but still flickers with melodic instinct and wiry guitar interplay. 'Freedom Rides' charges out with organ-stabbed garage grit, a protest anthem wrapped in biker-jacket energy. 'Treat Me Like a Man' flips a Beatles-influenced B-side by Long Island group The Shandels into something looser and more ragged. Harte would go on to tour with Wilson Pickett, but these early 7"sinever before compiledishowcase a raw, regional talent teetering on the edge of real experience. Efficient Space lands another killer excavation from North America's fringe.

Review: Frenchman Hemka makes a bold entrance on Mutual Rytm with this fierce solo 12" following her standout contribution to Federation Of Rytm III. She has established herself with a raw yet refined style on labels like Token and blends 90s grit with psychedelic textures and personal vocal touches in her work. This new EP delivers club-ready power across tracks like the tense, vocal-laced 'Abyss,' the propulsive 'Time,' and the haunting 'I Can't Shine.' With additional cuts like 'The Bad Place' and 'Unchanged' this is a fine window into Hemka's emotional depth and rhythmic command.

Review: HERO U.D.A. aka Hiroyoshi Udaka is a Tokyo-born DJ and producer who emerged from Japan's underground techno scene after moving to London in the late '80s and being inspired by the UK's legendary acid house wave. Throughout the '90s, he played at iconic clubs like The End and Tribal Gathering, supporting techno legends on tours in Japan and this EP features tracks recorded between 2002-2005 after his return to Tokyo. He draws on broken beat, acid jazz, dub and breaks with plenty of interesting and palpable textures bringing the work to life in HD. It comes on the SAISEI label, which revives rare Japanese electronic music and Udaka's timeless, playful sound is a perfect fit.

Waiting For The Sun (acappella) (1:45)
Waiting For The Sun (Sunset dub) (5:49)
Waiting For The Sun (Sunrise reprise) (3:04)
Review: Scottish veteran Hifi Sean - once, in an ancient time, frontman of indie stars The Soup Dragons - doesn't really do half-measures. 'Waiting for the Sun' is his first 12" since rinsing out the Fire Island remix in 2021, and it lands somewhere between gospel house uplift and morning-after clarity. The original version doesn't hold back - full-bodied keys, layered vocals, and a central hook that sounds like it came to him mid-dog walk, which, in fairness, it did. It could have collapsed under its own optimism, but somehow doesn't. The acapella confirms just how tightly constructed the vocal work is - stacked, reverent, and stubbornly catchy. 'Sunset Dub' dials things down without losing shape, keeping the bassline intact while pulling most of the colour. 'Sunrise Reprise' nudges things into the kind of end-of-night territory where no one's really dancing anymore but still doesn't want to leave. Not a reinvention, but a sharp, self-contained reminder that Hifi Sean knows exactly what his lane is - and how to drive directly through it at golden hour.

Review: London dubstep producers Hijinx (Kyle Smith) and De-Tu (the trio of C-Side, Christopher Iona and Jevon Ives) team up in an enviably collaborative form, reserving five 12" grooves spread evenly and fairly over two originals each, not to mention these serving to top-cherry one more collaborative number, '3310', which leads the charge on this White Peach juicer. The mood on the record is dynamic and midrange scoopy as ever, with a no-more-no-less production approach squeezing just the right sense of scape from the mix, never saturating its sounds in wetness.

Moved (part 2) (5:49)
What Is Houz (7:26)
Satisfaction (5:14)
The Prowl (5:06)
Review: This one hits like a love letter to the raw energy of early warehouse nights. From a UK producer who's been around the block more than a few times, the EP drips with old skool DNA but never feels like a copy-paste job. It's gritty, sweaty and awesome. 'Moved (part 2)' kicks things off with a pounding rhythm and a melody that instantly pulls from the golden age of rave. There's something serious in its tone, dramatic even, with a warped vocal sample urging you to move. Think late nights with strobe lights, where records like 'Energy Flash' or 'Testone' were gospel. 'What Is Houz' flips the mood but keeps the intensity. This one rides a low, tracky groove, dipping into minimal and funky acid touches that feel tailor-made for a dark room dancefloor. Turn the record over and you're tossed straight into the breakbeat jungle with 'Satisfaction'. It's all rattling drums, big vocals and classic rave swagger. No subtlety here, just full-throttle. 'The Prowl' closes things out on a moodier note, with acid lines creeping through a dark, melodic structure that echoes vintage Belgium techno. It's the sound of someone who's been through every era and still knows how to light the fuse. This isnt a copy cat trip down memory lane. This really makes you feel like a movement could happen again with these vintage sounds.

Casio LK 1 (4:46)
Casio LK 2 (4:37)
Review: Texan producer Ben Hixon has been particularly prolific of late, releasing a swathe of rather good - and undeniably analogue-powered - deep house EPs on Dolfin Music, a label he's been associated with for many years. Here he drops a seven-inch single - a rarity within house music - featuring two jams that make extensive use of his Casio LK keyboard. A-side 'Casio LK 1' is a breezy chunk of old school style deep house that comes blessed with a deep, heavy bassline, sparkling keyboard riffs, and soulful, eyes-closed vocal snippets. He opts for a sweatier, more stripped-back and occasionally distorted drum sound on 'Casio LK2', wrapping this tough-as-teak, no-nonsense beat in dreamy chords and spacey melodic flourishes.

This time, the pair lean hard into their mutual obsessions: dusty mid-70s textures, radiophonic wig-outs and low-slung kraut-funk. Built around rattling bongos and scuzzy analogue synths, the record rides a hypnotic groove that sits somewhere between library oddity, imagined road movie score and late-night Berlin jam session.

Review: Chicago native James "Soul" Holvay is a true soul survivor. Best known for penning the 1967 U.S. No.1 hit 'Kind of a Drag for The Buckinghams,' Holvay led The Mob before stepping away from music in the late 70s. But with the resurgence of retro soul, he made a stunning comeback in 2020 and was soon channelling the golden era sounds of Curtis Mayfield, Gene Chandler and Johnny Pate once more. His 2021 'Sweet Soul Song' EP earned critical acclaim, and now LRK Records drops two gems from his Working Man EP in the form of 'Love That Lady' and 'Don't Take Your Love', both pure vintage Chicago soul heaters.

The trademark approach seems to have relaxed a bit, with this 12th topup to their various artists series hears every name checked from the init, besides the artist behind track 2, who's simply billed as 'Unknown Untitled'. Otherwise, Son Of Philip catalyses a crisp start to a dutty night with proper hardstep intelligence on 'One Burn', while DJ JM responds with downwards kick impacts and self-surveilled textural swish on 'Shoplifting', and Ciel brings 'Memento Mori', a wonky 150ish jungle-juke flex to round off.

Gone Stumblin (7:00)
Gone Stumblin (dub) (6:36)
Unifying Force (6:30)
Gone Stumblin (bonus version) (6:36)
Review: Boston pair Soul Clap land on UK staple Crosstown rebels and bring their signature E-funk sound across a quarter of tunes that also draw on garage and deep house. 'Gone Stumblin' is effortlessly breezy with swirling, aloof vocals up top, a knotted bassline and dusty drums and percussion making a nice late-night vibe. The dub version is bigger, with twisted stabs and frazzled leads rewiring the energy and 'Unifying Force' is a swirling, gooey sound with an old school FM bassline and classic vocal sample bringing the heat. 'Gone Stumblin (bonus version)' is a second take on the original with some fun drum patterns and big raw snares to amp up the vibes.

DOTT - "Twitching Softly" (6:52)
Lucho - "Mesh" (7:10)
Artphorm - "Daown" (7:05)
HATT D - "Contrasts In Life" (6:27)
Review: French label Cairo Xpress debuts with a first-ever vinyl outing and a fine one it is too, with six stylish house outings from an array of fresh talents. Wilt's 'Beoyon' has lovely gloppy drums and bass looping under harmonic chords - it's simple but effective. Hermit gets more full-bodied with his textured 'Who Dunnit' and DOTT strips it back to bumping drum track workouts on 'Twitching Softly.' There is more irresistible bounce to Lucho's 'Mesh', Artphorm layers in some old school pianos to 'Daown' and HATT D shuts down with maybe the best of the lot, 'Contrasts In Life,' which is a broken beat, analogue sound with celestial energy.

HATT D - "House Party" (4:43)
HATT D - "Aye" (4:57)
HATT D - "Get Down Like This" (6:02)
Review: This new split release from French label HT sees Yesca and HATT.D come together for a six-track session of pure dancefloor functionality. It's a brand new drop, and a fitting return to the format that helped launch the label back in 2018 i lean, collaborative and totally focused on club energy. Yesca opens with 'House It Up', a shuffling, feel-good roller that lays out his chunky, loop-driven aesthetic, before 'On My Mind' and its 'Groove Mix' variations push deeper into heads-down, vocal-led territory. There's bounce, but also tension i warm basslines cut against crisp hats and filtered pads, keeping things locked without ever losing swing. HATT.D takes the baton with 'House Party' and 'Aye', two punchy, tool-ish cuts with a distinctly jacking edge, while 'Get Down Like This' brings a looser, funkier swing to the table. A digital bonus version of 'House It Up' closes the set with a twist. Built for peak-time and full of upfront house pressure, this one's ready for summer bags and open-air sets i all killer, no filler from two rising names in the Happy House orbit.
