Noiro - "Yougoslash" (7:08)
Belic & Mani - "The Flow" (6:11)
Rancel - "Twisting Endorphins" (6:48)
Paradise City Breakers - "Mentalist" (6:58)
Review: Kumquat returns with their second release, his time a various artists' EP packed with sleek tracks perfect for all sorts of movers and shakers. Four standout artists from the legendary French party scene deliver an irresistible blend of wonk and bounce across four groovy cuts. Noiro keeps it slinky and minimal on 'Yougoslash' then Belic & Mani get more stark and twisted with their tech sounds on 'The Flow.' Rancel's sound is laden with a libidinous sax line over clipped and crisp beats and Paradise City Breakers close down with the future tech of 'Mentalist.'

NX1 - "SL2" (5:49)
Crystal Geometry - "Haute Tension" (6:08)
PARAND - "Missed Connection" (4:36)
E-Bony - "Zero Point Echo" (6:19)
Review: The Valley of Tears series has been a key part of the success of the Soil Records' journey. The next edition is another doozy that features Parand, who is the newest member of the crew. His 'Missed Connection' is a warped and darkly futuristic techno-come-electro offering with fizzing synths. NX1's 'SL2' is a tightly, loopy metallic sound with bass that is full of unsettling tension and Crystal Geometry's 'Haute Tension' ups the ante with more unrelenting loops and percussive patterns. E-Bony closes this fresh techno 12" with the metallic clatter of 'Zero Point Echo.'

Shape Shifter (5:02)
Number Zero (5:18)
Living Proof (5:23)
Deluge (4:24)
Review: O aka Phase delivers a powerful punch with the 'Living Proof EP', a high-energy techno release that keeps the momentum strong from start to finish. The first side kicks off with 'Shape Shifter', an intense and hard-hitting track that drives forward with relentless beats. Next is 'Number Zero', which adds an eerie, futuristic vibe with its dark groove and sharp, addictive rhythms, pushing the boundaries of techno. On the other side, 'Living Proof' brings in more melodic elements, balancing the EP's energy with techy precision, while 'Deluge' closes things out with an unstoppable tribal pulse, offering a raw, primal edge. Each track has its own distinct personality, making this EP a dynamic, exciting listen for anyone into heavy, forward-thinking techno.

Merchant (5:32)
Guess Work (4:59)
Plot Twist (5:31)
Edge Runner (4:36)
Review: For more than 20 years Ashley Burchett has been pushing the envelope of no-nonsense techno as O [Phase] and he's been sounding more inspired than ever since launching his own Modwerks label back in 2021. Following up on some sterling releases from Saag and Tora Katsuta, now Burchett takes the reins himself for four steadfast building blocks in your game of techno Jenga. 'Merchant' is tightly wound, razor-sharp and looped-up to perfection, while 'Edge Runner' locks into some hi-octane machine funk. 'Plot Twist' keeps just a touch of swing in the mix and capitalises on hand claps and acid tweaks before 'Guess Work' ratchets down a lead-heavy low-end groove that could move mountains.

Income Tax Refund Dance
The White Castle Song
Untitled (feat Patrik Sjeren)
3c 273
Review: FXHE maintain their monthly heat emission for 2012, with label boss Omar S displaying all aspects of his production prowess (as well as skill for a humorous track titles) across four productions - one of which features the button bashing assistance of one Patrik Sjeren. There's something icily brilliant about the restrained "Income Tax Refund Dance" melding a dark piano riff with snapping 808 kicks and rippling lo fi rhythms which only further justifies the title of Omar S's killer 2011 LP. It's complemented by the far rowdier box jam "The White Castle Song" which jackhammers a simple yet highly flammable key riff over low rent percussion for FXHE's most potent ode to the perfect warehouse moment since the all conquering "Here's Your Trance..." Given the lack of additional info, we presume the Patrik Sjeren that produces the B Side "Untitled" track is the same Patrik Sjeren that released in the mid 90s under a multiplicity of aliases, and his contribution is every bit as incendiary as the track preceding it, whilst "3c 273" sees Omar S slip into pensive utopian electro mode with aplomb.

Orbe - "Jaxa" (6:28)
PTTRNRCRRNT - "Refraction" (5:32)
Deluka - "Axis" (4:42)
Jorge Flukso - "Synaptic" (5:49)
Review: Coorreente Belgium delivers a compelling slice of modern techno with 'Interlink', a four-track compilation that dives deep into rhythmic exploration and sci-fi atmospheres. Each cut offers a unique perspective, yet together they create an excellent and cohesive experience. Orbe's 'Jaxa' kicks things off with a spacey, melodic groove. The track's sci-fi techno aesthetic is underscored by rhythmic intricacies, creating a sense of forward momentum through the cosmos. It sets the tone with a blend of dreamlike melodies and pulsing beats. 'Refraction' by PTTRNRCRRNT follows, venturing into tribal territory with creative, off-kilter rhythms. Alien-esque warning sounds weave through the mix, adding a sense of unease and mystery that keeps listeners on edge. On Side-2, Deluka's 'Axis' plunges into subterranean techno with a deep, hypnotic vibe. Elements of trance filter through crisp production, guiding the listener on a spacey, introspective journey that feels both grounded and ethereal. Jorge Flukso's 'Synaptic' closes the EP with a nod to classic underground techno. Its dynamic, brooding build recalls the raw energy of Surgeon's warehouse bangers. The track's evolving layers and relentless drive create a late-night atmosphere perfect for dark, crowded dance floors. 'Interlink' is a well-curated snapshot of techno's diverse spectrum, balancing the cerebral and the physical with finesse. If you are one that thinks techno has been over-saturated the last decade and that there is no good techno coming out anymore then I would check this EP out.

Shimmering Lights (7:23)
Motor City Dreams (7:34)
X-Ray Eyes (5:24)
Review: Yore is a low key but always worth checking label which has got together one of its best releases in some time here. P0lyrhythm is the artist behind it and the title, 'Motor City Dreams' gives you an idea of what to expect inside - Detroit-style techno with retro-future synth work. Opener '313 Hazy Days' is just that - an acidic mix of swirling pads and driving techno drums full of hi-tek soul. 'Shimmering Lights' has old school percussive sounds and singing synth patterns that light up the deeper drums and then the title cut takes off to the stars on wispy leads and sleek beats. 'Ray Eyes' completes this most tasteful of deep techno EPs.

Andy Vaz - "Detroit In Me" (P0lyrhythm remix)
Review: Olli-Petteri Pietila has skirted around the underground for a long time under his own name and as Transistor, but he's found a new outlet for his Detroit-informed vintage techno sound on Yore under the P0lyrhythm alias. Andy Vaz's label is a natural home for such vibes and he continues to place his influence front and centre with the utterly dreamy 'Lake Michigan Breeze'. He even takes on Vaz's own 'Detroit In Me', serving up a remix which takes the track far out on a blissful combo of wistful pads and rolling percussion. If you like your techno classic, look no further.

Review: Goodness gracious, it's finally time to go off the deep end. Jurgen Paape is back in the ring with "Speicher 47", on Kompackt Extra Germany. Envision a truck loaded with nuclear waste bouncing down the techno highway, All blockades and roadkill that bar it's way are ravaged through without mercy. Veiled in a voluptuous camo net of harmonious grandeur, it flows with a similar straightforwardness as it's predecessor. But this companion differs, preferring to dwell in the nether regions of the obscurity of clarity that comes in the wee hour, when a dancefloor makes all too much sense. Techno!

Review: Indira Paganotto is one of the biggest stars of the new school scene. The Spanish artist has had a massive couple of years and is currently curating her own room at Amnesia in Ibiza. It is there she can showcase her dark, driving blend of trance, techno, Goa-inspired euphoria and plenty of hardness in between. This new EP also encapsulates all that with its Indian vocals and hyperdrive drums all run through with sweeping filters, plenty of mad FX and exotic sound sources that will no doubt send the younger, more wide-eyed ravers out there utterly mental.

Review: This is the third and last part of the excellent Korghettini Electronics project on One Trip To Avyon from Pancratio. It makes use of the legendary Electribes machines made by Korg in the early 2000s. They include a drum machine, analogue synth and sampler as well as music workstations and here they are put totters and jammed on freely with perfect future-retro results. Hints of 70s Italian ad music also colour the grooves which are couched in techno with flashes of acid and electro.

Inspired by early PlayStation 1 adventures, the duo masterfully weaves samples from obscure games into their compositions, crafting a sound that is both minimalist and evocative of 32-bit textures. Whether it's setting the mood in the mellow early hours or energising a peak-time crowd, this EP equips DJs with versatile tracks that promise to electrify any dancefloor. With its unique blend of exuberance and nostalgia, the 'Memory Card EP' is a must-have for enthusiasts looking to add both depth and dynamism to their sets.

Review: It's been a long time since we heard from Pangaea, one of the three famous faces who made up the original Leeds label come ubiquitous DJ's DJ's DJ imprint - Hessle Audio. Though perhaps less appreciated than his contemporaries Ben UFO and Pearson Sound, now's his time to shine again: Changing Channels is his second ever album, following up 2016's In Drum Play (which for all its quality, rough, juddering techno experiments, will always line the shelves of many a budding selector). Like its predecessor, oddball bassy techno is here Pangaea's preferred mode, whether reflected in the sassy femme vocal cutups of 'Installation' or the spitting basses of 'Squid'. This is one of two vinyl 12"s over which the album is spread; an effort to enhance its playability for DJs.

Review: Pangaea's latest album Changing Channels comes a notable seven years after his debut, In Drum Play, and again hears the Hessle brain lay down a whopping demo in dance histrionics. Made in a period of oscillation - between international DJ sets and holidays of downtime and r&r - we get the impression of a remarkably clear-headed album, with the production crisp, and the choice and placement of samples neat. On this 12", we hear the LP's first part, with the no-fuss garagey 'Hole Away' and the stabby 'Changing Channels' piquing particular interest.

Dusted (5:38)
Stuck (6:30)
Review: Pangaea and Leonce's collaboration feels like a natural evolution of their respective sounds. 'Dusted' takes the more energetic route, drawing from UKG's signature drum patterns and crisp, chopped-up vocals. There's a weightlessness to it that feels characteristic of Pangaea's style, with the track riding that fine line between chaos and precision. It's rapid but controlled, capturing the essence of the UKG sound without resorting to tired cliches. On the other hand, 'Stuck' leans into a more understated vibe, pulling from the foundation of 90s US club music. It's relaxed, more patient in its progression, with a warm, spacious quality that contrasts nicely with the jitteriness of 'Dusted.' The contrast between the two tracks showcases the range of both artists: while they're clearly rooted in different scenes, they've found a way to merge their influences in a way that feels both fresh and familiar.

Review: The exceptionally named Panty Soaker Sound System bursts onto the scene here with a powerful debut EP on their own self-titled label. 'Hormones' marks the inaugural outing and is a track that ignites the floor while exploring self-empowerment and inner desires. It has picked up early praise from Honey Dijon and is a full-throttle and steamy, erotic house sound that is sure to become a bit of a winter anthem. The EP includes three acid-infused original mixes, followed by the Prosumer HorMoans Remix which is a dark stomper with prickly 303 lines and a heavy groove. For those craving a harder vibe, the LUXE Dark Room Remix delivers a broken-beat reimagining with high-energy that takes you to new heights.

Review: The debut release on ISARN by label head PARALLX has finally hit the shelves, and it's sure to cause quite a stir among techno enthusiasts. The P0X EP marks a significant milestone for his label and showcases a unique blend of genres and his vision for the future of the Berlin-based label. The Synoid resident creates a sound that is both powerful and nostalgically futuristic, as heard on the pummeling 'Methane 1/11 [Curse Of Coal]' which is indeed all gas no brakes, while the sweltering '10000C [Fever Dream]' will push you into mental overdrive, the adrenalised groove of 'Die Schattenlaufer [Im Strom Der Zeit]' is infused with elements of EBM and finally 'Through The Core' will have you reaching for the lasers on this track which draws inspiration from early noughties techno.

The track builds relentlessly, its deep, hypnotic rhythm slowly intensifying into an unyielding force that takes over the dancefloor. The pulsating bass and crisp percussion create an immersive, almost subliminal experience that propels the track forward, making it an undeniable club weapon. On the flip side, 'Help (DJ Version)' serves as another heavy-hitting club stomper. With its pounding beats and driving energy, it captures the raw intensity of techno, delivering a straightforward but effective punch. Both tracks maintain the high-energy, ensuring the EP is a potent addition to any DJ's arsenal.

The mysterious outfit enchants us from the off here with the sleazy, meandering acid lines of the opener drawn out over dusty, dubby and deep house drums. 'Water Temple' is another proudly analogue cut with wispy pads way off in the distance and slow but lumpy drums get you into a groove. There is more hazy and horizontal depth to 'Analog Joint' and 'Memphis Prophet' pairs vaporous synths with mystic drum sounds before 'Birdspeak' making for another perfectly lo-fi world of cosmic melodic wonder.

Review: It's time to strap in for another episode of Anaoh Invites, which is always a great way to lose your mind to some tripped out techno. Gaetano Parisio is the first one to boggle the brain with 'Human Ratio' layering up twisted synths and drums. Dig It's 'When I Get Home' is another mad melange of smeared and stretched synths, stabs and thunderous kicks that tugs you in many different directions at once. 'Envenomations' sees Parker apply his steely, rigorous approach to the drum & bass template, crafting a collection of tracks that are as hypnotic as they are relentless. The A-side features two lean, rolling workouts, 'Voc-1 Robot' and 'Ee-Yo', their minimalist aesthetic and atonal synthesis recalling the icy cool sounds of mid-90s Krust. On the flip, Parker delves into more spacious territory with two tracks originally released digitally, their hypnotic grooves and alien textures showcasing his signature sound. With its blend of techno and drum & bass influences, 'Envenomations' is another standout release from a true auteur.

Pianamonn (10:12)
Review: New Theo Parrish? Yes please. The Sound Signature boss remains in a class of one and continually finds new ground to explore in the studio, often taking a freeform jazz mindset to roughed-up house and techno that blends the mechanical with the soulful in otherworldly, hypotonic fashion. 'Orange Barrel Action (Yellow Flashing Light mix)' is very much in that mould with lumpy drums detuned and off-grid keys and hissing hi-hats all coalescing into something seductive and subversive. 'Pianamonn' is a deep house foundation topped with weird and wonky keys in inimitable Parrish style.

Cheater's Smile (3:06)
Review: Long-serving Italian producer Marco Passarani continues his newly minted Studiomaster label project with its second instalment, serving a quintet of typically floor-focused jams on 'The Temple' EP. Arguably best known for being one half of the looped-up disco duo Tiger & Woods, Passarani is also known and loved for the more techno-tilted offerings he turns out from his hometown of Rome. His latest work sits somewhere in between his two trademark sounds, starting with the throbbing sleaze of opener 'The Empty Temple', with its purposeful bass, paranoid synths and dirty vocal whispers. The fierce, snare-driven rhythms of 'Night Walker' power grubby bass and glistening synths, while the descriptively titled 'Rotten Disco' offers a brilliantly wonky glimpse of future Italo. The distorted percussion and jagged bass of 'Dirty Hands' are aimed squarely at the floor, while the storming closer 'Cheater's Smile' bangs as hard as nails to complete a suitably stirring and tightly produced set.

Amalgamation (5:38)
Conspire (5:54)
Amalgamation (JX-216 remix) (6:58)
Enveloped (5:24)
Review: There is a great sense of techno classicism to this new outing on From 0-1 by Jason Patrick. His Back Channel Communications EP draws on early pioneers like Jeff Mills to lay down sleek linear grooves that voyage non-stop through the stars as mind-melting synths and melodies peel off the beats. That is the case with the opener 'Amalgamation' while 'Conspire' does the same but in even deeper fashion with rubbery drums packed together tightly and keeping the pressure high. A JX-216 remix brings a little more texture and funk and 'Enveloped' then hunkers back down into a minimal techno landscape that has the energy of a frozen tundra in the dead of night.

Review: Planet Rhythm is a highly prolific label whose quality levels never dip, all while staying true to a signature sound that is classical and fad-free. The SP Series has furthered its reputation and now hits a tenth edition with Portuguese legend and 30-year scene veteran A Paul at the helm. His opening gambit is a mental deep techno workout with prying bass precision, 'Utopia' gets more unsettled with twitchy stabs and FX and 'Hardcell' unfolds at warp speed with tightly woven layers of synth and bass. There is no let up on closer 'Constrain' which balances minimalism with sophisticated sound design for a pure deep techno trip.
