Review: Bristol's cultured Innate label is back with a first outing of the year and it returns to their various artists format with a mix of talents all making their mark. UK veteran Tom Churchill opens up with 'Unknown Unknowns (Edit)', which brings plenty of fuzzy and lo-fi aesthetic to jacked up drums and spaced-out pads. Rai Scott then shows her class with 'Suasion' that sinks down deep into immersive drums and is subtly lit up with simmering strings. Innate co-founders Owain K and Gilbert then hook-up under their brand new alias Curved Space and showcase their love of electro with 'Reverie,' a dreamy cut that glows with nice celestial melodies and will have dance floors in a zoned-out state. Last of all it's Lisbon mainstay Jorge Caiado who debuts with the chord-laced 'Floating Without Lifting,' a sophisticated and serene jazz-techno cut that takes you to the stars.

Review: After a fine collaborative outing on Semantica last year, Napoli tastemakers Retina.it and Domenico Crisci combine their skills once more for the tenth release from Summa Cum Laude. 'A Man With A Suitcase' opens up with a mix of textural synth details and long-form linear techno drums that all work you into a lather. 'Dead End Street' ups the pace and gets more manic with a hurried rhythm and urgent synth flashes peeling off the drums and 'Cross Road' then gets more weird with warped synth circles bringing tension and menace. 'Nocturnal Noise' closes out with reverberating synth leads and wispy curlicues bringing some rave mentality to the rooted beats.

Review: Analog Concept present the second volume of their dynamic various artists series, offering up four tracks of proper electronic class made to last. Aiming at moods of outernational escapism and determined space-braving, all four tracks here - from D5, Rekab, Amorsinfronteras and Ross Alexander - scratch at different spacio-tempaural regions of the universal surface. 'Round & Round' establishes things on a watery note, while Rekab's 'On The Move' contrasts this with a mixture of exploratory, deep-padded electro wonderment and a sense of measured, stoic drive: the ideal affect of most astronauts, according to NASA. 'FORM' assumes a polylateral shape, blending janky electro offcuts with paddy pensees, while Ross Alexander rounds things off on a similar note of determination to before, melding hard garage house with blissy piano-stabs.

Review: The legendary 'Solaris' is a standout tune from Kareem's 1997 release CICLOP on Berlin-based label Zhark. Originally, CICLOP combined diverse styles including industrial hip-hop, cinematic ambience and dub techno and created a unique, gritty soundscape as a result. Review: Short Attention Records makes a welcome return here with a new drop of wax that fits the label head into its roots in deep techno sound worlds. This one takes the form of a various artists' EP crafted with an intake feel for cosy floors and who better to kick off in that vibe than the revered Lawrence whose 'Hawser' is a groovy and melodious track. Next, New Jersey don Joey Anderson sets a slow and deep tone with 'Human Kind' which has moody vocals and Japanese artist Takuya Matsumoto follows with 'Three Flowers', a more potent and driving cut with a fine acid bassline. Rounding off the EP is 'Desired Spring' by R/K, a loop-driven deep house gem designed for both listening and dancing.

Review: Henry 'Junjo' Lawes produced a double-headed twin spin on the iconic Eventide Fire riddim for this one. It is arguably that which helped Barrington's 'Crucifixion' soar to the top of the UK reggae charts in 1980 when it was released. It is one of his most iconic vocal performances, which is saying something given how much music the man has worked on. On the flip side of this new 7", Ranking Joe delivers 'River Jordan' with full force, riding the rhythm with impeccable skill. These jams were recorded with the one and only Roots Radics at Channel One and King Tubby's, so very much capture the essence of reggae at its peak with some of its key players all involved.

The release comes alongside their first full-length album in nearly forty years, Last Rays of a Dying Sun. The EP’s features 'Surprise, surprise' and 'Didn’t know what not to say,' blending the band’s familiar jangly guitars with reflective lyrics. Also included is the title track 'Last stop on the underground' and 'Happy to leave,' which capture a mix of nostalgia and progression. Their 1983 release Emergency Third Rail Power Trip was hailed as one of the standout albums of the Paisley Underground, earning high praise from critics. With this new material, Rain Parade reinforces their place in the psychedelic rock landscape once more.

Review: Rakija's back on the Rakija label with another EP called Rakija, but thankfully the music on it is not as homogenised as the naming conventions (although the titles are.) Track 1 is a turbocharged tech house cut that is rave ready. Track 2 is edgy thanks to some punchy vocal bars and more driving drum programming. Things are rather dialled back in for Track 3 which lays down sleek drums and bass that worming their way into your being in no time. Track 4 then shuts down with some high speed and bumping tech house funk thanks to a restless bassline and snappy finger clicks.
