Gemini Lady (4:12)
Gemini Lady (alternative take) (4:17)
Review: Ron Henderson released only one album with his Choice of Colour band, and that was Soul Junction in 1976. The North Carolina-based singer-songwriter has become an object of cult admiration over the years which is what might explain how an original of that album can often go for upwards of $800 at auctions. The 2020 P-Vine reissue soon sold out and included an extra single from 1983, 'Gemini Lady.' It is that which now gets pressed up to its own 7". It comes with the same label design as the original with a special jacket to make it even more of a collector's item.

Gemini Lady (3:49)
Gemini Lady (alternate mix) (4:22)
Review: Ron Henderson is the North Carolina-based singer-songwriter who, along with his group Choice of Colour, released their sole album Soul Junction in 1976. This now mad rare record has fetched prices over $800 at auctions which prompted a 2020 reissue by P Vine which quickly sold out. Recently discovered, the 1983 hit single 'Gemini Lady' which was included as a bonus track on that reissue was an alternate take, not the original. Consequently, P-VINE decided to reissue the single in its authentic form. As such this formerly hard-to-find 7" single is reissued and replicates the original label design making it a must-cop.

Review: Led by Kenny Clarke and Francy Boland, the Clarke-Boland Sextet was made up of further musical talents from across Europe and the United States such as Boland, Sahib Shihab, Jimmy Woode, Joe Harris, and Sadi. The group played a pivotal role in shaping the European jazz scene of the 60s, never more so than with their timeless Music For The Small Hours record in 1967. It takes in an array of influences and includes standards like Burt Bacharach's 'Wives & Lovers' as well as more Brazilian and Afro-Cuban groovers like Luiz Bonfa's 'Ebony Samba'. The original compositions shine too, with Shihab's 'Please, Don't Leave' showcasing his vocal talents and adding a real depth. Overall this is jazz that radiates sophistication and relaxation and makes for a refined listen.

Review: American saxophone player and composer Clifford Jordan's 1990s Maple Shade Records albums are well thought of for their high-quality ideas. This release features a 1987 live quartet performance from a Baltimore jazz club in which Jordan delivers a mature, lyrical and swinging set encompassing standards like 'Round Midnight' and 'Don't Get Around Much Anymore' alongside his original compositions. The recording was meticulously captured with minimal microphones and high-quality cables so it achieves remarkable realism while blurring the line between live performance and studio recording. This is a definitive glimpse into Jordan's artistry at the height of his career.

Review: Smouldering Secrets was released in 1975 by Copeland Davis and his band and it's a great example of his energetic piano performances. The album opens with the melodic 'No Arms Can Ever Hold You' while tracks like 'Perfidy' and 'So in Love' feature lively instrumentals. Highlights include the soulful 'Jet,' where Davis sings, and the mellow 'Morning Spring,' famously sampled by Nujabes. This reissue also includes the vocal version of 'No Arms Can Ever Hold You' which makes its debut release on vinyl. Davis later gained popularity in Japan during the Free Soul and Rare Groove movements which is why this rich record one is being put out by P-Vine.

Review: Genius, enigma, pioneer. Holger Czukay's impact on music cannot be understated. As co-founder of seminal German legends Can, he was instrumental in bridging gaps between popular and avant garde music, pushing early sampling techniques forward, and having a hand in creating ambient genres. Radio Wave Surfer was his sixth solo album, adding to an impressive back catalogue separate to his work in Can. It's every bit as bold and fearless as you would hope considering the guy who made it, exploring a number of sounds which were either completely new or in incubation at the time - 1991. Rooted in electronica, concerned with the same level of experimentation Czukay's preceding albums, and those of his band, were known for. Trying to explain it isn't easy, so you're best just sticking it in the shopping cart.

Review: The first reissue of Ron Henderson's 'Soul Junction' in four years, this one comes with a Japanese obi strip. This is a great, beloved modern soul work released by Ron Henderson and his group Choice of Color in 1976. The edition reissued by P-Vine in 2020 sold out quickly, and now fetches high prices on the used market, so they've once have decided to reissue this wonderful album in a new version. Henderson came of musical age in the 1970s, the decade in which he regularly appeared on-stage alongside the eponymous band. The first of just two albums to ever be released, the latter of which (a compendium of Rare Tracks) was in turn its own P-Vine release, the relative, original obscurity of this album, not to mention its raw and honest feel, make it an undeniable funk and soul treat.

Review: A fresh live album by Walter Morrison aka. Junie Morrison, one of the most outspoken former members of Ohio Players and Parliament-Funkadelic. Recordings from Morrison's solo performance at Dooley's in Lansing, Michigan appear on this opus, in which a medley of tunes first recorded for his then latest solo album, Freeze, come among a rip-roaring sandwich of wholly original live funk jams for the bread, and an array of covers - that of Aretha Franklin's 'Oh Me Oh My (I'm A Fool For You Baby)', Diana Ross's 'Surrender', and The Temptations' 'Shakey Ground' - making up the condiments.

Gigi Masin - "First Time Ruth Saw The Sea" (3:16)
Gigi Masin - "Goodbye Kisses" (1:40)
Charles Hayward - "Thames Water Authority" (21:27)
Review: This split album features the Italian composer Gigi Masin on side-a with delicate piano movements rippling above undulating electronics. Its second track 'Clouds,' has become an ambient standard with Bjork, Nujabes and cloud-rap duo Main Attrakionz all sampling its rich and euphoric tones.

The B-side belonged to Charles Hayward and the twenty three minute sound portrait 'Thames Water Authority'. A founding member of post-punk and avant groups This Heat and Camberwell Now, Hayward's natural inclination towards percussive instrumentation is highlighted by shape-shifting cymbal recordings that trace the expansive systems that meander beneath Greater London.

P-VINE is thrilled to reissue Les Nouvelles Musiques de Chambre Volume 2 on limited edition vinyl with an iconic Japanese obi strip attached.
