The evolution of his sound reflects his roving infatuation with great sonic architects: he was inspired early on by the Cocteau Twins, Joy Division and early 4AD releases, and later discovered the beauty of Derrick May's strings, Virgo's basslines, the Burrell Bros' grooves, Juan Atkins' Deep Space vistas and the relentless pulse and mesmerizing echoes of Basic Channel (which catalyzed the Convextion sound after he heard it played by Paul Johnson one night at a club). A quick glance at Discogs shows that his releases are cherished and highly sought-after by both DJs and collectors, fetching high prices on eBay and at specialty vinyl shops.
