Review: London based hardcore-tinged post-punkers High Vis have slowly been amassing a cult-like following since the release of their 2020 debut full-length No Sense, No Feeling, while it was 2022's sophomore triumph Blending that landed them on tours with acts both far heavier and more melodic than themselves including Fiddlehead, Terror and The Chisel. Returning with their highly anticipated third LP Guided Tour, frontman Graham Sayle continues to serve as a voice for the downtrodden, pulling on his experiences growing up in Merseyside to paint poignant, pissed off yet vulnerable depictions of lower class living in an ever-lethargic home. Drawing from post-punk, hardcore, indie rock and baggy, High Vis are likely the first band to marry the sonic, visual and lyrical aesthetics of the hardcore and Madchester scenes into a unique and hypnotic blend that pays sincere credence to the likes of Oasis, The Stone Roses and (now) even the dance punk psychedelia of Primal Scream, yet wrapped up in the type of fuzzy stompers designed to encourage feral chants, fist bumps and stage dives.
