Review: Mancini's Bang Bang EP earlier this year had us impressed. The veteran Parisian producer and DJ now returns with a bunch of wicked remixes from his recent discography - and he's honed in the finest local talents to help get the job done right. First up is Joule chief Janeret, who delivers a dubby and hypnotic rendition of "Slap" that's fuelled by some powerful 303 attitude. Ibiza's Michael James (Constant Sound/Mulen Records) gets into deeper and swing-fuelled territory that's perfectly suited to the afterhours on his version of "Just Music" and finally on the flip we have got Swoy (Politics Of Dancing/Djebali) with the some sublime minimal boompty business displayed finely on his rework of "Rara".

Review: Veteran Parisian producer and DJ Mancini is back. He has been running his eponymous imprint in addition to headz up (with Wlad) and he has released on Signatune and Bit Music over the years. The boss serves up some truly bumpin' minimal tech house jams on the Bang Bang EP. Bleepy shuffle funk in the vein of legends DBX or Hardtrax on the awesome title track, sexy and hypnotic late night deepness on "The Mermaid's Sound" and then something a bit tougher on the B side - with the slinky and dubbed-out tripper "Clap" making it worth buying this fine EP alone.

Review: Mancini may not be one of the more prolific members of Paris's rapidly expanding tech-house family, but his sporadic releases are rarely less than rock solid. This self-released 12" - his third, in total - is every bit as essential as its predecessors, with the Swag style swinging drums, bubbly electronics and intergalactic acid lines of title track "Rara" brilliantly setting the tone. Flipside cut "Just Music" explores similar sonic territory - albeit with the addition of a more bustling and ballsy bassline - while "Gone" sees the producer opt for a deeper and altogether more dub-fuelled vibe. If that's nit enough to persuade you to part with your cash, check the chunky deep house/tech-house fusion of closer "In Place".

Review: Paris native Mancini is one of those artists who dips and dives in and out the shadows as he pleases. Since his first EP surfaced way, way back in 1996, the producer has delivered sporadic EPs here and there, offering some serious killers before returning to the shadows once again. He's been a little more consistent as of late, with his previous release having come out last year, and it feels like he may be gaining a little traction through his self-titled Mancini imprint. "Cascais", the title tune on here, showcases a masterfully subtle and alluring shade of deep house that steers ever so closely to the Villalobos strain of minimal, with the same going for the comparatively more lively and percussion-driven swings of "Sh My Ass". Over on the B-side, "No Nothing" slithers its way through a medley of swinging, glitchy drums, dubby bass tones, and masterful vocal samples, while "Testify" is the one tune to bring the groove out to major dance levels, leaving its siblings back in the shade. Top notch deepness.

Review: We love a new white label as much as the next record cat, but we're especially drawn to the format if it means having access to some puristic deep house of the highest calibre. The genre has become somewhat sterile these days, so it's refreshing to hear it being filtered through a new sort of aesthetic - something that the HoW crew have clearly got under control. Mancini's "Inside" is a moody little groover with an addictive percussion muscle and a mesmerising series of slo-mo vocal samples, a brilliant little piece of magic that's followed proudly by the relatively more upbeat bumps of the hollow "Magic" from newcomer Re_Named. Over on side B, Swedish producer Niklas Andresson goes for the dubbed-out swing on "Sunday Funday", a full-bodied house charmer with a wavy tone and some equally wayward beats.

Review: How cheeky do you want it? The Hedzup crew have been transmitting crafty-as-hell minimal house from Paris to the world for many a year now, and they're not letting up in their quest to inject some freaky fun into the club. This latest drop is another split from label main men Mancini and Wlad, leading in with the former's 'Cure Hater' which bounces into ear shot with an irrepressible groove and plenty of wriggling noises snaking around the mix. Nu Zau then steps up with a remix which tips the ingredients into a tougher, 90s-styled beatdown without losing any of that heads down energy you expect from a Hedzup release. Wlad brings a shimmering sophistication to the chords on 'Lucky Star' without losing that naughty rhythm section, giving Floog plenty to work with for a remix which heads further into techy territory.

Review: Parisian imprint HedZup has spent the last five years offering up a mixture of compilation-style 12" singles - many pressed to vibrantly coloured, patterned wax - and split EPs featuring a pair of producers. Their latest release sits in the latter camp, with each of the label co-founders showcasing their personal production styles. Mancini offers up 'A Merman', a rubbery, bouncing, warming and bass-heavy chunk of contemporary tech-house that's subsequently given a darker, creepier treatment by remixer Sepp. Wlad's 'Lotus' combines more elastic and bumpy beats with UKG organ notes and the spacey sonics of early UK tech-house. The accompanying Youandewan remix is a touch tougher and stranger, though it does make great use of Wlad's killer bassline and intergalactic electronics.

Review: For the label's latest 12", Hedzup has offered crewmembers Mancini and Wlad a side each on which to showcase their wares. Mancini steps up first, laying down the becalmed bounce of "Jijijaja". This is classic late night fare that sits somewhere between European tech-house and Chez Damier style U.S deep house. Cab Drivers provides the remix, beefing up the beats and bass on a slightly more driving but no less melodious interpretation. Wlad takes over on side B, offering more metallic sounding percussion and some pleasingly wavy riffs on tech house/deep house fusion cut "Camel Toe". With its' loose, bustling percussion and booming bassline, Swoy's remix sits somewhere between DJ Sneak and Rob Mello.

Review: Following up some fine releases by the likes of Giorgio Maulini and Cosenza, Djebali delivers that unmistakable French touch as always, and this edition features a respected stalwart of the Parisian house music scene in the form of Mancini (hedZup) who is joined by ascendant Slovenian Alex Ranerro on DJEBPR 016. It kicks off with the ethereal and hypnotic "Alocasia" which would make even Mulen or Tripmastaz stand up and notice, followed on the flip by the trippy UK tech house vibe of "Willow" and the deeper late night mood music of "Gas Tank".

Review: In case you didn't know, Hedzup does it all - it is a vinyl and digital label based in the French capital, which is also where the founders Wlad and Mancini host their own parties. They deal in well regarded minimal sounds and pair up once more for the fifth EP on their own imprint. There's plenty to get excited about, too, with punchy acid house opening up before an IO (Mulen) remix sinks the track into more smooth and supple deep tech realms. House rarely gets as slippery and funky as 'Furbished' on the flip, while long time French house icon Djebali adds his usual jazzy depths to the remix.
