Review: A provider of top-notch Italian techno sounds since the mid 1990s, Michele Zamboni AKA Miki has long been a reliable source of forthright, mind-mangling dancefloor cuts. Here he makes his belated bow on Better sound, delivering an EP that boasts both brand-new material and freshly re-edited cuts from his mid-90s work as Major Hypnotic Key Institute (M.H.K.I). The fresh Miki jams appear on the A, with the melodic, psychedelic and early progressive house-influenced 'Mathematic' being joined by the jacking, TB-303-laden peak-time techno sounds of 'Fix Toroide'. For the M.H.K.I side, we get a fresh take on 1996 progressive trance number 'Spiritual Exit', a trippy, mid-tempo treat laden with squelchy bass and winding acid lines, and the similarly inclined - both more tribalistic and bouncy - 'J Experience'.
