Review: The Mushi 45 series is dedicated to bringing you the finest funky cuts on cute little 7"s, stamped up with a distinctive yellow label and guaranteed to bring the groove. On this occasion Mister Mushi himself is on the buttons, offering up some cool and deadly edits to get the party juiced up good and proper. On the A side comes a slow and sizzling version of Sister Sledge's eternal 'The Greatest Dancer', pitched down and leaning heavy on the bass for a slice of warm up magic. On the flip, savour the crisp, cool breaks of 'Elements Of Hip Hop', which is all the lean and mean funk you need to get busy in a sampler or just straight up freaky on the decks.

Review: We're firmly convinced that the A-side of this sneaky seven-inch from Mushi 45 main man Mister Mushi borders on genius. Entitled "Hard Lifetime", it sees the Japanese DJ/producer pepper a killer hip-hop-meets funk groove - all tight horn blasts, addictive drum breaks and jazzy soul guitar riffs - with elements of Mr Byrne's celebrated vocal from Talking Heads classic "Once in a Lifetime". The whole thing is wonderfully infectious, toe-tapping and hip-wiggling, breathing new life into one of music's most familiar tunes (and, for the record, the production is so good that Byrne's vocal sounds like it was tailor-made for the backing track). You'll find the Mushi one's fine instrumental take, shorn of all T Heads references, tucked away on the flipside.

Review: Edit fans will long have been tuned into the work of Japan's Mister Mushi, who is pretty much a God-like figure in the scene. His Mushi 45 label now comes on strong with another slice of gold that is all killer hip-hop meets funky grooves. IN vocal form 'Masai Mobb' has fantastic horn work that teases and pleases over rolling beats and with some golden era, smooth as butter raps. Flip it over for the playful instrumental in all its chunky, 60s spy move tinged glory.

Review: Mushi 45 main man Mister Mushi is as close to an edit god as you can get, frankly He shows that again here on another of his superb 7"s. The a-side from the Japanese DJ and producer is as tight as they come. It adds many new layers to an iconic tune, with big horns, kicking hip hop drum work and a funky bassline that you hope will never end. It's action packed from front to back, and cannot fail to detonate any dance floor. ON the back is a version that is stripped of all the extra flair, but rolls deep and offers jazzy keys, snatched vocal snippets and a languid, slow-funk groove that still has plenty to offer.
