Review: On his previous album,2020's 61 Mirrors/Music for SKALAR, Kangding Ray largely eschewed the dancefloor in favour of IDM, ambient and experimental electronica pieces that ranged from the inspired to the merely odd. Ultrachoma, the Berlin-based French producer's belated follow-up, takes a different tack, making greater use of club-ready rhythms while continuing to push melodic elements - lead lines, counter-motifs and chords - to the fore. The result is an album rooted in sci-fi techno and far-sighted IDM that's full to bursting with highlights. Our picks of an extremely strong bunch include the broken techno gem 'Supraverde', the bustling, bleeps-and-breaks workout 'Bitter Keylime', the Livity Sound-esque 'Pervinca Lucente' and woozy ambient number 'Sage Aqua'.

Review: The album, which is played and produced by Katerine, Gonzales (Chilly Gonzales from Canada/Kitty Yo) and Renaud Letang (Feist), "Robots After All" is a concept album with an ironic statement to the last Daft Punk album "Human After All". Its about Katerine's fight against the growing power of machines in the world. The mood is ironic, but very deep and also quite dark. It's his 7th album as he's already is a big star in France.

Review: Kettel's My Dogan album was a real landmark when it was released 15 years ago. Amazingly it has never before been on vinyl, but thankfully Lapsus now right that wrong with this special green marbled version. Dutch artist, Reimer Eising, aka Kettel, has long been a key player int he IDM and brain dance scene and this album proves why. It is one of his most enduring works on the Sending Orbslabel and even now sound fresh, innovative and original. His complex rhythms dance delicate dances, the brain cleaning synths burrow dee into your mind and the reflective melodies sound straight from heaven.

Review: Johannes Kolter is Kolter, an artist formerly known as DJOKO, and now a hotly tipped breaks and garage head who has already got plenty of attention. Here though he makes a grand and widescreen statement with the first release on the all-new Pilot label. It is a stylish and adventurous record with plenty of killer cuts from the downbeat hip hop opener to the deep house delights of 'Journey' via the elastic and energetic future house kicks of 'Roboflow.' Showcasing both a knack for well craft synths and expert drum programming precisions, this record plays out like a mini DJ set with all the twists and turns you need to keep you on your toes and fully engaged.

Review: Boogie Angst is the debut album from the Netherlands hottest export Kraak & Smaak. Traditionally the Dutch have been major players in the trance side of the dance scene but Boogie Angst is a credible funk fuelled artist album from Holland's # 1 live band. Bringing elements of funk, breakbeat, house and down-tempo together on one album it is one of the most accomplished debuts of recent years. Supported on UK radio by Pete Tong, Annie Mac, Rob Da Bank, Chris Coco, Annie Nightingale and a host of others and gathering a series of rave reviews in the press, the band are well on their way to conquering the UK dance market. Their current single "Keep Me Home" has been picking up plays for the track on Radio 1 and the video is on MTV and has already been placed in the Cool Cuts Chart. The band are returning to the UK for a tour in October including a London date at the Jazz Cafe and will be playing at Bestival in September.

Review: 2006 was the year Kraak & Smaak made the jump from being a cool retro-funk act pumping out some essential vinyl releases to a world beating live act with one of the funkiest debut albums in recent history. In between releasing their own records and touring the US, UK, their home country of Holland and everywhere in between, they also found time to do some serious re-rubs of friends, acquaintances and the odd superstars work. Unlike most remix albums, "The Remix Sessions" doesn't sound like a cobbled together collection, these all sound like Kraak & Smaak tracks. You can tell that the band really put a lot of themselves into each remix they do and the mixes have a common theme of uncommon funk. Funk is kind of an overused word these days but when you've got it you've got it and these boys got it big time.
