Review: It's a breath of fresh air seeing an album being released in December. The trend of packing albums in autumn so they can make end of year lists makes it usually a really limited month full of seasonal Christmas themed stuff or late 'drops' by massive Hollywood stars, who don't need promo. White Denim, now signed to the iconic Bella Union label run by Cocteau Twins' Simon Raymonde, are releasing their 12th long player and it's frontman James Petralli's most ambitious to-date. It's the first record that he has engineered and produced and sounding as soulful and groove laden as this we can only hope to hear more of his production magic on White Denim and other projects to come. The single 'Light On' has some sumptuous key tones underpinning his warbling vocal that acts like a kaleidoscopic fountain of joy, breathing fresh air into any room. 'Look Good' has a funk bassline that would make George Clinton proud and 'Second Dimension' is as catchy as anything Hiss Golden Messenger has ever released.
