Review: The Splinter Foot Girl EP sees London producer Blacksmif add the Hypercolour offshoot Space Hardware label to his ever growing discography, focusing on a woozy sound that brings back fuzzy memories of the bruk movement from out West that 4Hero, Bugz et al pioneered. The title track sets the tone, as Blacksmif f*cks around with an Usher vocal hook over an invigorating lead synth to a back drop of rippling, intricate percussion. The superbly titled "Afterthoughts From A Whore House" is even better, laying down a sheen of immediately gratifying hi tech soul over taut stepping rhythms with the results sounding like James Blake's best Harmonimix work. There's a nice ruff house refix of the title track from Dexter housed on the flip too.
