"Lark", "Summer" and "Chance" from this release will be familiar to fans of Angel Olsen. They are slightly reworked and sometimes re-titled pieces from 'All Mirrors', her huge 2019 oeuvre that got high praise and plenty of glossy magazine coverage. They all serve, next to the other tracks, as reminders that songs can be more than just words, but complex webs of moods and emotions that add up to more than the sum of their parts. Here Olsen is frank and unflinching on subjects like love, loss and survival. It's a troubled but rewarding listen.
