Chicken Lips main man Dean Meredith presents the first fruits of his new Rhythm Odyssey project and if you like bottom heavy throwback flexors that sound like they're lifted straight from a late eighties warehouse party in Chicago, then you want to be checking this. Meredith's own Warehouse Mix of "Move Groove" hogs the A Side, gradually teasing out an energetic piano melody that hugs the heavy analogue bass tightly, whilst a thumping jack groove aided by subtle flecks of cowbell and drum machine fills provides the requisite sweat inducing thrust. This is backed with a remix from Dr Dunks that slows the pace, ramps up the bass frequency and adds a delightfully reverberant beat to proceedings for a hypnotically narcotic version which reacquaints the piano melody with the depths of the mix before being thrust into your attention on a brilliant drop. Newcomer Vermin opts for a Model 500 meets Vibert perma retro electro reimagination that goes overboard on the 808 kicks and acid squiggles.
