Shadowy producer E-GZR set tongues wagging three years ago with a forthright debut EP on Sex Tags offshoot Wania. Here the publicity-shy producer returns to action with more untitled doses of Metalurgic Funk. Interestingly, all four untitled cuts boast subtle variations on the same trippy, mind-altering electronic motif, with only the style and intensity of the rhythms below changing across the course of the EP. It's an interesting approach, inspired either by reggae style "versioning" or, given the hypnotic nature of the lead line, a Steve Reich style sequence of minimalist movements. All four cuts are hazy, locked-in concoctions designed for pitch-black basements and hot, sweaty rooms; in other words, heavyweight body music for altered minds.
