Groove-Diggers answered that with a slick rework merging Mighty Ryeders' Evil Vibrations and De La Soul's A Roller Skating Jam Named 'Saturdays' which now gets a welcome reissue on P-Vine. This fresh flip features De La's iconic vocals layered over the original sample plus new verses from Japanese rap trio FNCY, who salute the golden age with style. Adding another twist, rising Taiwanese star 9m88 delivers a smooth Japanese-language cover of Evil Vibrations. The result is a playful, dancefloor-ready blend of soul, funk and hip-hop nostalgia that is a great balance of tribute and reinvention. Turn it up loud.
