Shimmerdown / SPQR vinyl

Future Times' Max D recently referred to John Selway's "Shimmerdown" as "one of the finest Rhodes-soaked, late-into-the-function cuts ever made". We tend to agree. The track, a minimal house/electro hybrid rich in deep bass, trippy noises and subtly psychedelic acid lines, has gained near mythical status since it was originally released two decades ago. Happily, Future Times has struck a deal to reissue it alongside another vintage Selway cut: 2000 deep tech-house classic "SPQR". The latter was produced in cahoots with Andrea Taverna under the Seltav alias. While a little bolder and more musically expansive than "Shimmerdown", the track shares a similarly wave vibe and dreamy, early morning appeal.
