BOOM! A brand new Kowton two-tracker on the man's own Livity Sound imprint - is it Christmas? No, its slap bang in the middle of spring, but we love that Kowton plays with our sense of time like that. The Bristol bass engineer has been absent for a little while, so "Pea Soup" feels like a breath of fresh air flowing onto our shelves, especially because it belongs to his very own, inimitable brand of pseudo techno with that noticeable layer of 90s jungle grit. The flip, a tune called "Iodine", is much more steeped in a contemporary Berlin flair, a subtle techno bullet with a dreamy, washy UK bleep artillery riding the crest of its drum beat, and it's yet more proof of the sort of high quality 4/4 that this man can deliver. Class.
