Golden boy of UK house Toby Tobias rocks up to Let's Play House with a couple of refined square wave pushing deep house jams. There's a great deal of warmth and character in his use of vocal samples, not least on "Paradise Lost" with its delirious atmospherics matched only by rumbling low-end weight. Likewise "Choc-Ice For 4" captures a similar psychedelic mood enhanced by samples treated in just the right way, matching a modern approach with a love for the old. Out of the remixes, Marcos Cabral's hazy dub house take on "Paradise Lost" is a winner for fans of the Basic Channel approach.
