Some five years after he made his label bow, Young Pulse returns to G.A.M.M. with the sixth volume in his ever on-point "Paris Edits" series. The edits are on-point and peak-time ready, with the Parisian producer subtly beefing up the beats whilst treating his source material with due reverence. First up is soulful disco stomper "Ruff Times", where mazy synth lines, hazy horns, jazzy guitar solos and impassioned female vocals rise above a bounding beat. "U Must Have Known", meanwhile, sees him get busy with a sweeping, string-laden disco treat, dragging the original version a little further towards classic soulful house territory whilst retaining all of the Philly Soul style instrumentation.
