Don't Look Back In Anger
Love Is A Treasure
Review: Second time around for producer Neil Anderson's most recent record as the Regulators, a late 2020 cover version of Oasis' Britpop classic 'Don't Look Back in Anger'. It's a radical but hugely enjoyable reinterpretation, with Anderson and his bandmates re-imagining it as a skanking slab of rocksteady goodness that comes laden with trademark Hammond B3 organ sounds and lazy trumpet and trombone solos. Like it did first time around, this highly limited, white vinyl edition of the releases comes backed with a faithfully fuzzy and soulful cover of Freddie McKay's 1967 rocksteady standard, 'Love is a Treasure'.

Cat: OGR 800. Rel: 01 Dec 20
Don't Look Back In Anger (4:47)
Love Is A Treasure (5:40)
Review: 2020 has been a hugely productive year for Neil Anderson, the vintage reggae, ska and soul loving producer behind the Original Gravity label. Here he rounds off the year via a new single from The Regulators, one of the label's most reliable revivalist reggae combos. The headline attraction here is undoubtedly the skanking cover of Oasis's Britpop smash 'Don't Look Back in Anger', which we're sure will annoy Noel Gallagher no end. Built around a rocksteady groove replete with trademark organ sounds and lazy trumpet and trombone solos, it's a cheeky but brilliantly executed cover. Over on the flip they deliver a more faithful cover of Freddie McKay's 1967 rocksteady standard 'Love is a Treasure'. It's good, but sadly lacks the A-side's "wow" factor.

Woodfield Road Allstars - "Muhammad Ali" (2:33)
The Regulators - "Race Track" (2:31)
Review: Original Gravity have been hard at work putting together a third volume in their reggae Dynamite series. This one lines up another belting 45 featuring tunes from The Regulators - twice - Brentford Rd Soul Rebels and Woodfield Rd Allstars. All of the tunes have booming bass warmth and vintage organ riffs that just transport you to a time and a place, even if you didn't live it yourself. The drums rumble on like a fat bottomed elephant and the horns take a majestic lead. These are atmospheric tunes ready and waiting to get people moving and our standout is Woodfield Road Allstars' tribute to boxing legend Muhammed Ali.

Don't Look Back In Anger (remastered)

The Regulators - "Don't Look Back In Anger" (Re-mixed & Re-mastered) (4:55)
Prince Deadly - "Dub Look Back In Anger" (4:47)
Review: You can't beat a good cover of a classic tune and they don't come much better than this version of Oasis's masterpiece 'Don't Look Back In Anger' by The Regulators. Original Gravity come through with it on 7" in its 'Re-mixed & Re-mastered' form. The lead melodies come from big fat horns, while the lazy drums sway to and fro and bring an all-new kind of energy. Prince Deadly then gets to work on the studio dials to dub it out to perfection on 'Dub Look Back In Anger'. Two doozies.

The Regulators - "Don't Look Back In Anger" (Remixed & remastered) (4:55)
Prince Deadly - "Dub Look Back In Anger" (4:47)
Review: Since it first appeared in stores in limited quantities three years ago, The Regulators' mid-tempo reggae take on Oasis's Britpop chart-topper 'Don't Look Back In Anger' has become an in-demand item online. The record's producer, and Original Gravity label chief, Neil Anderson has thus decided to reissue the single - though once again, there are only a small number of copies flying around. This time round, Anderson has remixed and remastered it to guaranteed fatter sound, though the track's inherent charms - it sounds like a record that could have been recorded in Jamaica in the mid 1960s that puts a unique spin on a familiar song - remain in tact. This release also features a previously unheard bonus: the effects-laden, 'version' style 'Don't Dub Back In Anger', which Anderson mixed live under his Prince Deadly alias.

Woodfield RD Allstars - "Soul Flute" (2:30)
Review: Original Gravity is run by label owner Neil Anderson, who has a tireless work ethic and superb devotion to ska, reggae, and everything in between. His love of boss rhythms comes to the fore once more here with new tunes from three pseudonyms - The Regulators, Woodfield Road Allstars and Prince Dolly - all of whom, in actual fact, are him. Regulators cut "Why Why Why" opens up with a heavy bottom end, "Coast to Coast: has a big organ led groove and "Why Dub Why" reworks the opening tune into a rocksteady roller.
