Moonlight Horses (4:04)
Catching Stars (4:56)
Review: Estonian rock band Centre El Muusa hail from Tallinn and in vitally started out as experimental electronic duo Centre Electronique Muusa before evolving into the current set up in 2018. They have dropped a couple of tasty albums since 2020 and now contain with their explorations and fusions of the worlds of jazz, rock, folk, world and country with hints of kraut on the new 7" for Funk Night. 'Moonlight Horses' is a psyched out world of campfire guitars and star gazing riffs that leaves you feeling fully hippie-d up. 'Catching Stars' then heightens the trip with more angular guitars and a big wall of garage-rock sound.

Review: A five-track EP of rarities by Alex Chilton, the American singer and songwriter best known as the lead singer of the Box Tops and Big Star, but whose later efforts led to an extended ambassadorship of the US avant-garde underground. The bulk of the tracks on ‘My Rival’ originate from Chilton’s earliest days, circa. 1975; at this critical juncture, Big Star was no more, and Chilton was teetering on the edge of a nervous breakdown. Saved by his former bandmate, but still confidant, Chris Bell, they soon found themselves re-roused by the power of music, holing up together in Chilton’s bedroom and recording this short but wild set of bluesy experiments. Easily mistaken as the early murmurations of a Big Star reunion, this project should be taken as an eccentricity unto its own, and wholly deserves its 12” debut after an initial RSD run.

Cizana - "She Sold Her Soul" (3:52)
La Nueva Generacion - "Uhru Sasa" (3:26)
Review: It might be getting cold and dark and wet here in the UK but music will always be able to transport us to warmer, sunnier, happier climes. And so it is with this new 7", which includes a booklet, from Discodelic. It's a two tracker from Cizana and La Nueva Generation that is flame hot and bristling with energy - Cizana's 'She Sold Her Soul' kicks off with its joyous flutes, hand drums and percussive Latin grooves then La Nueva Generacion slow things down and up the brass with their carnivalesque Afro-funk workout 'Uhru Sasa'.

The Scepters - "Message" (3:51)
Review: Discodelic comes correct again with a new 7" that features a pair of rather lesser-known and brilliantly obscure Latin psych-rock gems. Conjunto Raza' 'African Dream' is all crackly and immediately nostalgic because of it, with noodle acoustic guitar sounds making way for a more upbeat and driving 60s garage rock sound but all in loveable lo-fi. Add in a red-hot vocal and you have a flame cut full of funk. On the reverse, The Scepters 'Message' is another well-aged jam that brings rawness and emotion in equal measure.

Conjunto Raza - "African Dream" (3:15)
The Scepters - "Message" (3:50)
Review: The Scepters, formed in 1967 in Paraiso by guitarist Celso Spencer, were a popular Panamanian band known for their energetic performances across military bases and high school dances in the Canal Zone. Alongside Lionel Best and Jose James, they covered Top 40 hits and iconic rock bands like Santana and Jimi Hendrix. They released two 45s, including 'Message,' which debuted at Panama's first National Soul Music Festival in 1971 and features next here to a jam from Conjunto Raza, another project led by Agustin Leiro, this one with rotating musicians. They released a single 45 on Onda Nueva in the mid-70s and it blends Zonian and Panamanian talent with aplomb.

Run Run Runaway (3:31)
Review: "The world's greatest two person rock 'n' roll ensemble, the next big thing - out now!" You can hear the delicious wit and parody in the copy sitting on The Courettes website, a band that have managed to do the unthinkable, swerving all trends to come up with music that simultaneously sounds self-aware in its retro nostalgia, yet incredibly fresh. Hailing from Denmark and Brazil - another curveball in many ways, California, which welcomes the additional vocals of La La Brookes, is a case in point. Jangly yet snarling garage rock, seductive art pop aimed at the charts, beach guitar stuff that supplants realism and experimentation for the doe-eyed dreaminess of, err, beach guitar stuff. Original as ever, it's more evidence that these guys may well be on the money with that description of themselves.

No Club Lone Wolf (2:29)
Review: You know what to expect from The Cramps - punk, rockabilly and garage rock colliding in a gloriously sleazy pile up of distorted twang and deviant attitude. The A-side is a trademark take on those late 50s/early 60s tunes dedicated to the twist dance craze, enough said. It comes backed with the garage-powered 'Confessions of a Psycho Cat' and the more pscyhobilly-slanted, thoroughly howling 'No Club Lone Wolf'. Capturing a raw energy that channels the rebellious spirit of classic rock & roll with gritty guitar riffs, infectious rhythms and an undeniable sense of fun, this is a standout late-career highlight.

The album blends cinematic, psychedelic dark funk with Nordic psych-jazz, classical, boom-bap hip-hop breaks, and riff-heavy rock. Accompanied by the exclusive track 'Quadrant,' not featured on the album, the vinyl 45 release adds a unique gem to collectors' shelves. Both tracks provide a glimpse into the band's forthcoming album, showcasing their eclectic musical influences and distinctive recording style-capturing live jam sessions that evolve from sampled breaks, riffs, and melodies into intricate instrumental compositions.

Review: Sababa 5 are a funk band from Tel Aviv who tap into their position in the Middle East to create a dynamic, outernational sound, and they're continuing a hot streak on Batov with this crucial collaboration with Turkish singer Candy Dogan. Dogan is currently a member of the jazz department at Istanbul University, and she sought out the band after hearing their music and noting its similarities to Turkish music. Already an alternative pop sensation on her own terms, Dogan slots into the Sababa 5 sound beautifully, resulting in a must-check 7" single that hopefully signals the start of an enduring partnership.

The Velvet Underground founding member was in stellar company with Brian Eno, Roxy Music's Phil Manzanera and one of the most prolific studio session guitarists of all time, Chris Spedding, all appearing on the album. The album is stacked with bangers, but of note is the life-affirming and soulful 'Dirtyass Rock 'n' Roll; his cover of 'Heartbreak Hotel', which is one of the best covers ever recorded and 'I'm Not The Loving Kind'. The latter gained recognition most recently when the late, great Mark Lanegan covered it beautifully for his Imitations album. Cale will forever be a wellspring of inspiration.

Nearly 25 years after his 1999 debut My Vinyl Weighs a Ton, Manak revisits his high school garage band roots by forming this project to reinterpret lesser-known tracks from the late 60s to early 80s. With Manak on vocals and Ellis providing instruments, Campus Christy is a nostalgic nod to the past that blends influences from an era that shaped Manak's musical journey. It's both a personal tribute and a fresh exploration of forgotten gems.

Review: RECOMMENDED
You always feel like you've pushed through the other side of the mirror when it comes to CAN. A mysterious, groove-laden, funk-infused yet utterly lucid place where guitar hooks seem to come out of the walls, rhythmic hypnosis draws listeners ever-deeper into a place that, while perhaps not entirely theirs, is one which they helped build in the outer limits of late-1960s surrealist rock.

Laying the foundations for early progressive and krautrock with an avant-garde approach to songwriting, by the time this Stuttgart gig took place they had almost a decade of work to go at, and yet as the tracklist suggests the band always had improvisation at their core in a live setting. Concerts that would transport crowds far beyond the venue, into thick layers of melody, hooks and strange effects, every single recording of every show is a genuine moment in history never to be repeated again.

Review: For fans, this album contains the very essence of what made CAN such an iconic group. The band's blend of progressive rhythms and morphing, tantilizing melodies are all here in Delay 1968, which was recored in that year but not initially put out until 1981 (it was initially meant to be their debut album). Each tune comes laden with thrilling effects, tape edits, loops that makes every tune brim with vitality and a harsh, coarse texture. There is a real rawness to the whole thing that makes it a definitive garage-rock classic with some calling it a proto-CAN sound because of how they evolved in subsequent years.

Review: Mute and Spoon Records continue in their CAN retrospective bout, following up the first two parts of the long-lost CAN live series ('Brighton' and 'Stuttgart' respectively) with further re-releases of their best known albums. 'Soundtracks' - their 1970 album in which every song was written with the intention of being included in various German films including Deadlock, Cream and Deep End - here gets a limited purple vinyl reissue. Functionally, though, the music could form a standalone conceptual CAN album in its own right. It's also full of the dramas that go hand in hand with your usual LP output; this album marks the point at which the original vocalist for the band, Malcolm Mooney, was replaced by Damo Suzuki.

Ege Bamyasi still stands as one of their crowning achievements, and one whose spooky reverberations have made their presence felt throughout a mighty chunk of the rock and dance music of the decades that have followed. An otherworldly masterclass for the ages.

Review: Candeleros is a six-member, Colombia- and Venezuela-rooted collective based in Madrid that fuse Cumbia, merengue, dub and an array of Afro-Caribbean rhythms, creating a psychedelic, postmodern celebration of Latin sound. Their music blends Andean echoes, cinematic textures and hypnotic percussion into what feels like a ritualistic dance experience and has seen them collaborating with artists like Dodosound and Carlos Talez. They always reject the usual genre boundaries while focusing on cultural activism and the power of collective expression and have performed across Europe. As this album shows, their sound is passionate, borderless and proof that Cumbia has truly rooted itself in Europe.

Review: The Spotlight Kid was Captain Beefheart's sixth studio album and one, landing a mere three years after the legendary Trout Mask Replica classic, sees him continuing his avant-garde brilliance. Initially released in 1972, it stands out as the only album credited solely to Captain Beefheart, even though it does feature much of his Magic Band prominently. The material, integral to the band's repertoire, highlights Beefheart's eclectic musical vision and experimental spirit, taking raw blues as its starting point but then twisting into it hithertoo unrecognisable shapes and psychedelic distortions. Reissued for Record Store Day 2024 as a deluxe double LP set in a gatefold jacket with milky clear vinyl, this edition revitalises the album's enigmatic charm for contemporary audiences and reminds us all of its magnificent blend of blues, rock and avant-garde elements.

Review: Captain Beefheart & His Magic Band are the latest act to be featured in Warner's series of Now Playing greatest hits-style comps. Born Don Vliet, Captain Beefheart was a true innovator in modern music, boasting a four-and-a-half-octave vocal range, and fused free jazz, Delta blues, classical music and rock & roll with unique rhythms and surreal lyrics. Though he never achieved mainstream success, his influence permeated punk, new wave and post-rock and this album shows why, with tracks like 'I'm Gonna Booglarize You Baby' and 'Her Eyes Are a Blue Million Miles' showcasing his bolder moves, alongside the more introspective 'My Head Is My Only House When It Rains' and 'Clear Spot.' Vliet, a child prodigy in art, moved to the Mojave Desert in his teens, where he met Frank Zappa. They initially collaborated on a film project, but Vliet eventually formed the Magic Band. After several lineup changes, they released the seminal Trout Mask Replica in 1969. Beefheart's career spanned various experimental phases until he retired in 1982 to focus on painting, earning acclaim for his abstract outsider art.

Review: Captain Beyond may not be the first name on everyone's lips when it comes to supergroups, but let's break the elements down before rushing to judgment. Rod Evens, formerly of Deep Purple, Bobby Caldwell, once the Johnny Winter drummer, Iron Butterfly axeman Larry Reinhardt, and Lee Dorman - who was the bassist in that band - coming together to make outside the box guitar-fuelled sounds.

OK, so we're definitely talking about the specialist end of supergroups, but still, the moving parts here are nothing short of impressive. Forming in 1971, and releasing three records through to 1977, this album captures their essence and innovative abilities, melding hard rock, progressive, jazz fusion and space rock without coming across as self-indulgent or overblown. Hardly the easiest thing to pull off when you think about it.

Review: The word is (over) used a lot when it comes to music, but there's no denying that Cardiacs were utterly unique. Emerging from the suburban commuter belt between the outskirts of West London and sleepy Surrey, they created a world of their own where vicious punk rock and implausiably complex prog were joined in joyous union, with the geniunely genius songwriting of singer/guitarist Tim Smith at its heart. 'Heaven Born & Ever Bright' is their third studio album and arrived after a slimming down of their classic six piece line up to a much sleeker four, but the songs attain an intensity and scalpel-like precision even its predecessors find hard to match. Smith would never pick actually pick a favourite of the four Cardiacs studio LPs, but when asked he would usually simply declare that he felt this one was underrated. Some four years after his death, following a tragic and lengthy debilitation after he suffered a major stroke and an episode of cerebral anoxia in 2008, it's perhaps time Cardiacs fans righted that wrong.

Review: Causa Sui's In Flux is the dynamic follow-up to last year's From The Source, reflecting a more spontaneous, experimental face of the band. Where in its predecessor we heard a hermetic 45-minute LP, In Flux embraces a looser, freer structure, charting fuz-off riffs through to a Hot Rats-style jazz fusion, in the end finding notes of oceanic post-rock building on influences from Talk Talk to Can. On 'Spree', the band eschew guitars entirely, going full Death in a wild doomsynth embrace. The 16-minute 'Astral Shores', meanwhile, stands as the album's centrepiece, mesmerising us listeners through heavy folk psych shearwaters. Causa Sui continue to operate in the manner of unmoved movers, unstoppable as they come.

Review: Hidden in the liner notes of Causa Sui's new live album lies an invitation to join the Danish purveyors of expansive psychedelic jams for a midnight feast at Copenhagen's legendary Loppen venue. Recorded in the heart of freetown Christiania, a place where the boundaries between reality and fantasy blur like the edges of a particularly good dream, the band's performance is a testament to their two decades of sonic exploration. The setlist is a treasure trove for long-time fans, a heady mix of fan favourites and deep cuts, including the sprawling seven-part suite 'Visions of a New Horizon' - a track that unfolds like a sonic tapestry, weaving together psychedelic riffs, soaring melodies, and hypnotic rhythms. But the real highlight is a previously unreleased live rendition of 'Red Sun in June', where the band stretches out and explores their improvisational prowess, venturing into Grateful Dead-esque jams that could fill a stadium. Elsewhere, they channel the spirit of Miles Davis' electric period on 'The Spot', all jazzy interplay and free-flowing improvisation, before unleashing their inner Black Sabbath on the monstrous riffola of 'Soledad' and 'Boozehound'. This is Causa Sui at their most free-flowing and spontaneous, a band that's clearly as comfortable in the live setting as they are in the studio. It's a reminder that sometimes, the best music is the kind that's created in the moment.

Their self-titled debut is packed full of squelchy synths, jagged minimalist guitar lines and high-pitched eccentric vocals, paying clear homage to classic acts such as The Slits and Bow Wow Wow. Chock full of bite-sized bangers including 'Neighbourhood Dog' and 'Kiss Her Or Be Her', both of which scoff at the notion of a three-minute track, this is retrofitted throwback dance-punk in the stylised era before it even had such a moniker.

Review: When most people think of mid-1970s San Francisco, The Visitation is the kind of sound that likely springs to mind. Released in 1976 by a then-fledgling band called Chrome, the record is packed with the kind of psychedelic rock that invokes borrowed fantasies of floating high above the Gold Gate City, wings gifted through hallucinatory intake. Or in the throes of a tripped out party, waiting to board Jefferson Airplane. In reality, this was nought but a fleeting moment in the group's history, and what followed betrays a very different side to Frisco at the time, one defined by punk and post punk, giving rise to outfits like The Units. Relish in The Visitation then, because Chrome's brief flirtation with this sound is unarguably incredible and all-too rare.

Review: Shoegazers and experimental outfit Cloudland Canyon blend ambient, drone, krautrock, psychedelic, house music into their own unique tapestries. The band, led by Kip Uhlhorn, is now back with this new self-titled album which his another widescreen exploration of the cosmic sonic realm. The band is now more than 20 years into their career and for this one embraced the future by collaborating with AI. This allowed them to generate and create "compositions that sound like they are meant for an alternate realm where both beauty and suffering are both present, but not at odds with one another."

Review: Mr Bongo look back to the damn fine Latin funk and rock-infused soul sounds of Coke's 197 self-titled opus for their next well-chosen reissue project here. It is their only album, sadly, but is a brilliant mix of Miami Latin-funk, psychedelic garage rock and gritty soul sung mainly in English. It blends bright funk drumming, flavourful organs and zesty horn with Paul Garcia (guitar), Ariel Hernandez (bass), Ruben Perez (drums), Jose Rubio (keys) and Peter Fernandez (vocals) all produced by Mato. The record was popular in Miami but faded due to limited promotion and a Coca-Cola trademark dispute but was later rediscovered by collectors, with standout tracks like 'Na Na,' 'Got to Touch Your Face' and 'Te Amo Mas' all became staples of Latin sets.

Review: Dark Shadows by Cold Sun is a stunning trip into vivid psychedelia, reminiscent of a blend between The 13th Floor Elevators and The Velvet Underground, yet possessing a distinct and unique character. Recorded in 1970 but never officially released, the album features future members of Roky Erickson's backing band Bleib Alien/The Aliens. Led by visionary lyricist and autoharp player Billy Bill Miller, Cold Sun emerged from the Austin music scene of the late 1960s, experimenting with unconventional sounds and influenced by vintage sci-fi/horror aesthetics. The album, characterized by Miller's electrified autoharp and Tom McGarrigle's massive fuzz guitar, delivers a sonic landscape dressed in feedback and futuristic lyrics. This new edition by Guerssen captures the essence of the original recording, with improved sound quality and vintage-style artwork.

Review: If you missed The Comet is Coming's brilliant debut album, Channel The Spirits, first time around, help is at hand. Happily, the Leaf label has decided to reissue the Mercury Music Prize nominated album, expanding it to two discs via the addition of 2015's similarly sublime Prophecy EP and a trio of previously unheard wig-outs. The genius of the London combo's music lies in their unique and eccentric approach to musical fusion. While their roots lie in fusing spiritual jazz and freaky psychedelic rock, keen listeners will hear a myriad of other influences and inspirations seeping into their distinctive instrumental compositions, from spiraling electronica, Afrobeat and skewed funk, to ambient, dub, drum and bass, Roots Manuva and low-slung industrial funk.

Review: Imagine a Latin reboot of "Back to the Future" starring Arsenio Rodriguez as the mad scientist and Eblis Alvarez (Meridian Brothers) as his time-travelling student. This album serves as the perfect imaginary soundtrack for that unmade film. Following the success of his debut solo album Mentallogenic, Alex Figueira returns with a more collaborative approach, crafting the second album of his expansive project, Conjunto Papa Upa. Embracing soul, funk, jazz, psychedelia, and electronics, Fruta Madura ("Ripe Fruit") navigates diverse tempos and rhythms, offering a refreshing blend amidst electronic-dominated tropical music. Figueira's distinctive production shines, showcasing his eclectic vision in a genre-defying journey through African, American and Caribbean traditions. With witty, mature themes and spirited compositions, this album promises to be a future classic in tropical psychedelic music.

Review: Author and musician Julian Cope, formerly of Teardrop Explodes, is a leftfield national treasure. His books contain some of the funniest and most imaginative stories ever printed and as a musician he is the essence of rock n' roll. This latest album - the follow-up to 2023's excellent Robin Hood - is Cope at his most melodic. It contains nods to the likes of spook rocker Joe Meek, Velvet Underground and Krautrock, with a smorgasbord of guitar tones, mellotron and loose Moe Tucker-esque drumming. Cope's lyrics, with plenty of humour and off-kilter references, are a joy to dive into as they're cloaked in some of the best music he's ever composed.

Review: Julian Cope's My Nation Underground is an album ready for rediscovery and it now gets reissued as a faithful replica of the original 1988 Mercury Records UK release and pressed on high-quality 180g vinyl. Following the success of Saint Julian, Cope surprised fans by changing his band lineup and blending funk with Krautrock with veteran producer Ron Fair at the helm. The album includes three singles, mostly notably 'Charlotte Anne' which was a minor US hit. The opener, '5 O'Clock World', is a cover of a 1965 Vogues song and is upbeat and poppy, while the seven-minute title track uniquely combines go-go beats with post-punk elements.

Review: This is ex-Teardrop Explodes frontman and cult hero Julian Cope's third record in as many years - he's operating at the speed that a lot of 60s/70s psychedelia artists that he was inspired by were and, in turn, making everyone else look a bit lazy. As a songwriter his satirical and absurdist sense of humour shines through; he makes you laugh as often as he makes you want to tap your foot and sing-a-long. And the uniqueness of his personality shines through with countless witty lines. A case in point is the brilliant "They ruined my Subbuteo and made their escape / Four Jehovah's in a Volvo estate", which is talk/sung over a motorik beat replete with mind-bending mellotron. Elsewhere, the bedroom-glam rock album opener 'Too Freud To Rock'n'Roll/Too Jung To Die' is a brilliant takedown of someone who's seemingly wound him up on the internet. With tunes this good, long may the rebirth of Cope continue.

Review: Taking their cues and inspiration from their earlier peers in The Nomads, Stockholm, Sweden's psychedelic garage rockers Cornflake Zoo were active for a brief period in the mid to late-1980s, releasing just a small handful of singles and EPs during their short tenure. Knights Of Fuzz offers up a definitive compilation of the (unfairly) lesser-known garage gurus, including their Hey Conductor and Just A Game 7" singles, released in 1985 and 1987 respectively, while also featuring their 1986 The End Of The Beginning 12" EP in its entirety, along with a few unearthed bonus cuts for good measure. Jagged, bluesy, chaotic buzzing guitars twisted into jangle-pop refrains, Cornflake Zoo truly were the Scandinavian knights of fuzz that time forgot.

Amongst the high-class talents who were part of those seasons were legends of the kraut scene like Manuel Gottsching, Klaus Schulze, Jurgen Dollase, Harald Grosskopf and Dieter Dierks. It was Dierks who took care of the recordings, arrangement and mixing as well as being a musician in the seasons. These have been transferred from the original analog tapes and remastered for the first time.

Review: Athens-based garage rock outfit Cosmic Shadows follow up on a strong local presence and a breadcrumb trail of digital releases to deliver their debut album. It's a catchy, infectious kind of sound which takes some cues from surf and indie, all bottled in a dirty receptacle that gives the band an instantly classic, timeless feel. From the tap-along jaunt of 'Satisfy' to the glassy-eyed, low slung trip of 'Try' this is a band who know precisely the sound they're aiming for, and they nail it with ease. Just watch out for the rockabilly undertones of 'Devil's Game', which runs at a decent clip and means business in the baddest - aka best - ways.

This time, they expand their sonic palette, blending garage rock with doo-wop, Motown influences, and heart-tugging ballads. From the fuzz-filled opener 'You Woo Me' to the emotional closer 'For Your Love', the album strikes a perfect balance between raw energy and newfound sophistication. Collaborations with La La Brooks of The Crystals and renowned producer Richard Gottehrer elevate tracks like 'California' and 'Keep Dancing'. Lyrically, the band explores deeper, personal themes, particularly Flavia Couri's reflections on loss and family. With vintage production touches and vibrant instrumentation, The Courettes deliver their most mature and ambitious work to date.

Despite the steep price tag, the musical content was scarce, leaving many buyers feeling shortchanged. It was rumoured that only ten sets were ever produced. This new release offers a substantial upgrade, presenting the complete concert with exceptional sound quality pressed on 200-gram vinyl. Lux Interior Interview
Review: The don't tend to make them like The Cramps anymore. That's a given, but the real question is whether or not they could make them like The Cramps anymore. Formed by Lux Interior and partner Poison Ivy, the only two permanent band member from inception, circa 1976, to disbandment in 2009, this is the dream team that made gothabilly a thing, opening the door to at least one, if not more sub-genres and bands that feel like they should be auditioning, if not performing in, The Rocky Horror Picture Show. Informed by classic 1960s surf rock and punk, the psychobilly pioneers were at their finest when doing their resolutely oddball thing on stage, and Do The Clam does this some degree of justice. Originally captured in 1986, with the entire set broadcast on FM radio, thanks to excellent sound quality on the original tapes we can almost feel like we were there, on the sweat and beer-soaked dance floor, losing it to these curiously contagious songs.

Review: Cromagnon Band's Mode is a deeply immersive journey into instrumental creativity, crafted through a unique process of live jamming and reverse engineering. The trioidrummer Tom Watt, bassist Lenny Walker, and multi-instrumentalist Bert Pageitake grooves from their favourite tracks, jam until something fresh emerges, then reshape it into fully produced pieces. The result is a psychedelic blend of dark funk, Nordic psych/jazz, boom-bap hip-hop breaks and riff-heavy rock reminiscent of early Black Sabbath. With no specific narrative, Mode leaves room for listeners to interpret and create their own mental imagery. Its sound is cinematic, layered, and transcendental, showcasing the band's broad musical influences and love for sonic experimentation. This second album, and their debut release on BBE Music, is a testament to their live jamming technique and musical pedigree, with Bert Page's Moog and Rhodes providing rich textures alongside his sax and clarinet. Mode is a must-listen for fans of boundary-pushing instrumental music.

The three singles released ahead of the album promise a seamless continuation of Crumb's dreamy atmosphere and intricate melodies. Rather than a departure, these singles serve as a comforting reminder of the genres they've mastered, effortlessly combining smooth psych-jazz with bedroom and dream-pop elements. Lila Ramani's ethereal vocals, accompanied by Brian Aronow's synth wizardry, Jesse Brotter's solid basslines, and Jonathan Gilad's precise drumming, create a captivating sonic journey. With Amama, Crumb reaffirms their position as innovators in the indie music scene, delivering an album that is both familiar and refreshingly new.

Review: Holger Czukay's late career works for Claremont 56 are celebrated in a new compilation, showcasing the former Can bassist's unique musical legacy. Released between 2009 and 2012, these tracks highlight his inventive and freewheeling approach to composition and recording. Claremont 56 founder Paul Murphy, inspired by Czukay's legendary 2009 Roundhouse performance, curated this collection with a deep appreciation for the artist's creativity. Key tracks include 'Ode To Perfume' and 'Photosong,' both reimagined from the Roundhouse gig. 'A Perfect World (Remix)' features former Can bandmates Jaki Leibezeit and Michael Karoli, while 'Fragrance' offers picturesque Balearic Kraut-dub. The bright 'Let's Get Cool' revisits Czukay's 1979 classic, and 'My Persian Love (Remix)' revives an early solo recording. The compilation also features two potent tracks with Czukay's wife, Ursa Major: the ambient 'In Space' and the mind-mangling 'Music To Be Murdered By.' This collection is a fitting tribute to Czukay's endlessly inventive career, highlighting his unparalleled contributions to experimental music.

Consisting of just four movements ranging from formless to the watery and rhythmic, its recording lies in the basis of just one legendary drummer, but in all its sonics sounds as though an enormous ensemble were behind it.
