Review: Incredibly, it is almost two full decades since Echospace and Rod Modell's legendary Deepchord project dropped the original version of this album. Happily, it has aged to perfection and gets reissued here with the first-ever remix from Gerard Hanson aka Convextio. Next to that are a series of dubs and mixes that result in widescreen dub landscapes, soft synth plumes, delicate melodic curlicues and some of the headiest electronic music you could possibly immersive yourself in.

Review: It was big news when Daft Punk were enlisted to record the soundtrack to Disney's remake of Tron. While the film has perhaps faded from view slightly, the soundtrack remains a popular notch in the French duo's latter-day legacy. Here, we get treated to a reissue of the big budget remix collection which came out in 2011. It's a neat snapshot of the electronic music landscape at the time, ranging from The Glitch Mob to M83, Moby to Paul Oakenfold, Boys Noize to Photek and the late, great Avicii. You certainly wouldn't get the same cast of characters together for a similar package now, making this a document of the era as well as an essential collection of premier league dance music.

Review: Rhino's new premium vinyl series promises the pinnacle of sound and packaging for classic albums. Mastered by Kevin Gray and pressed by Optimal on 180-gram vinyl, these limited-edition releases feature high-quality covers and "tip-on" jackets. The series aims to deliver consistent sonic excellence, setting a new standard for reissues. Miles Davis' Tutu (1986): Often dismissed as 'pop-fusion', Tutu defied expectations and remains relevant. Produced by Marcus Miller, it features a tapestry of electronics, including bass guitar, bass clarinet, electric violin, percussion, and synths. The album reflects the 80s with its bright tonalities and a crisp sound akin to the Fairlight era. Davis' brooding brass blends with Miller's harmonically rich backdrops, reminiscent of black popular music of the time. The result is a work of engrossingly fraught atmospheres, proving Davis' enduring relevance and ability to captivate without sounding dated.

Review: The debut album from De La Soul (Trugoy, Maseo and Posdunos) gets another reissue here, pretty much ensuring this longstanding Long Island hip-hop trio never stay out of the limelight. Renowned for its uniquely positive spin on hip-hop amid a harsher world of dark, hardball gangster rap, classics such as 'Me, Myself And I' are known the world over, and you'll be hard-pressed to find a soul who doesn't have so much as an inkling as to how it sounds. While they were labelled as 'hippies' at the time, they've since gone on to influence many hip-hop artists internationally.

Review: It was big news this year when hip-hop legends De La Soul finally made all of their music available to stream on digital platforms. That move was backed up by them also dropping a load of reissues of their finest albums and now we have, for Record Store Day/Back Friday, this special coloured vinyl boxset featuring their most iconic LP, 3 Feet High and Rising, on seven individual 7"s, making them perfect for DJ deployment. The box set also includes a funky slipmat making this a perfect Christmas gift for the hip-hop head in your life.

Review: With 2021's Infinite Granite taking a sharp left turn into the realms of hazy, luscious dream-pop, eyes have been pointedly fixed on San Francisco blackgaze heroes Deafheaven ever since, with many of their fanbase pondering where to next? The answer is their highly anticipated sixth full-length, Lonely People With Power, which finally showcases the band freed from all creative restraint and audience expectation, marrying their equal and effortless understanding of black metal malevolence and shoegaze ethereality, even allowing frontman George Clarke to make full use of his recently discovered vocal range. Howling shrieks and delicate crooning weave around one another on the euphoric heft of 'Heathen', whereas 'Magnolia' offers up one of their most succinctly black metal cuts to date, radiating with the caustic aura of Emperor's more proggy latter-day output. Forgoing their usual post-rock penchant for a small number of tracks all clocking in at approximately ten minutes, the numerous cuts (12 in all, marking the most of any Deafheaven album to date) prioritise instantaneous delivery on their most sprawling and musically diverse collection yet, fusing their harshest and most accessible sonics into one monumental victory lap touching upon everything from black metal to shoegaze, dream-pop, thrash, post-rock, emo, screamo and post-punk.

Review: Depeche Mode's latest album Memento Mori is one that has been madly anticipated by fans. The record - which comes on wax and in a lovely embossed sleeve here - centres on the mood of grief after the passing of the band's founding member Andrew "Fletch" Fletcher, this is the first LP by a Depeche Mode made up of only two remaining members: Dave Gahan and Martin Gore. The band's progression in their latest years have heard them move into darker, peakier, sadder and more industrial themes, as they make do with a future-present that wasn't promised to them in the 80s, while drawing on deathly topoi and nodding to Ingmar Bergman.

Review: The third and most especial edition in the latest selection of versions of the reissued LP by Alonso Toro, Paul Desenne, and Pedro Vasquez - Alzheimer. Coming hot on the heels of an original, as-it-was reissue as well as a gemmy Ricardo Villalobos rerub, this deluxe edition comes in a beautiful yellow and lilac LP box, and features the latter's two remixes as well as an exclusive Wetsuit Je Me Souviens version. A curio of the Venezuelan vanguard, the album was recorded between January 1997-99, and hears the fabled trio of musicians "forget everything" that came before, enlisting the recorded help of every member of the animal kingdom - from mammals to insects - and shooting squarely for a whole new sound-world-order in the process. Sonically flowing between heritage Latin music and minimal electronica, the purpose is to confuse and the effect is indeed confounding, though no less dazzling.

Review: American hip-hop group Digable Planets dropped their revered second studio album Blowout Comb in October 1994 on Pendulum/EMI Records. It bare all the hallmarks of the classic boom-bap era with hints of flower power positivity, plenty of dusty beats, great samples (of Roy Ayers amongst others) and, rather rarely, female bars in amongst the men. There is more than a whiff of A Tribe Called Quest to these beats, which also have lyrical themes such as inner city life and black nationalism. Guest appearances from icons of the time like Guru of Gang Starr, Jeru the Damaja, and DJ Jazzy Joyce all feature. Top tackle.

Review: Dom & Roland's Industry set new standards when it was released on Moving Shadow in 1998. This was a vision of d&b as a cinematic vessel like never before, pushing the limits of sound design in a style which has been standard practice ever since. Steely and intense, it's as fresh and relevant now as it was when it first laid waste to the scene in a blizzard of industrial strength drums and dystopian moods. Newly remastered and now spread across five plates (compared to the still considerable four it originally arrived on), this is a landmark slice of drum & bass history given the ceremonious reappraisal it deserves.
