Review: This Californian duo have attracted more than their fair share of opprobrium over their four albums to date, and this doesn't seem likely to abate with 'Hang', their boldest and most audacious effort to date. Whereas in the past their psychedelic and glam fixations have coloured their output, here they take a bold leap into showtune fervour with a theatrically extravagant selection of orchestrally embellished ditties that are as beholden to Todd Rundgren as Sondheim, and "Bugsy Malone" as Sufjan Stevens. Moreover, give that precious few other bands could come anywhere near pulling off the feat that these two manage with 'Hang', it's just worth considering that the naysayers are jealous of both Foxygen's talent and their formidable chutzpah.
