Review: Over the last few years, plenty of techno, house and tech-house artists have embraced disco, adding elements of familiar '70s and early '80s favourites to their sturdy, 21st century beats. Here sometime Drumcode, Bedrock and Hot Creations regular Alan Fitzpatrick goes one step further, delivering an official remix of Patrice Rushen's 1979 floor-filler "Haven't You Heard" - a much-sampled track that famously formed the basis of a 1998 disco-house smash by Scottish outfit Daddy's Favourite ("I Feel Good Things For You"). Fitzpatrick's version comes on like an extra-heavy, extremely tooled-up version of that celebrated revision - all cheery piano-heavy loops, celebratory sassiness and excitement-building cut-ups - with the addition of more verse and chorus vocals from Rushen's original take. It has "bona fide peak-time anthem" written all over it.
