Back in the heyday of the Scando-Disco scene, Jann Marius Dahle had a flurry of records as Fjordfunk and under his own name. Rightly recognised by the leaders in that scene, he's been quiet for the best part of 20 years, but now he returns with the stunning, fully-rendered wonderment of "Infinite Zest". This is an album bursting with colour and musicality, as gorgeous instrumentation meets with tenderly executed disco with a distinctly Norwegian mood. From the starry-eyed synth interplay of "Alina" to the noodling funk of "Nussing", Marius Dahle's skill as an arranger and producer is a revelation. A well-deserved, long awaited return to the fray from a rightful peer of Prins Thomas, Lindstrom et al..

Review: Danish composer Anders Lauge Meldgaard and string trio Halvcirkel rack up a new milestone in their ongoing musical partnership with this collaborative album, Spirit, on the wonderfully experimental label Ar & Dag. Blending acoustic and electronic elements into an intriguing work of intricate string arrangements and Meldgaard's Ondomo and modular synth textures, the result is an evocative, genre-agnostic work. The likes of 'Song Of The Meadow In Bloom' are full of the joys of Spring with an undercurrent of mischief, while 'For Kun Du Ved Hvor Meget Jeg Nod Dig' is a more suspenseful and eerie sound of unresolved oops and sonic chaos. Their partnership began in 2016 through performances with Frisk Frugt and has since evolved into a deep creative bond and Spirit showcases that artistic synergy with real richness.

Zoltan Nagy AKA P60 has spent the last four years slowly building up his Midnight Fashion label and its dedicated downtempo offshoot, Midnight Fashion Chill. Following a handful of solo EPs on the latter imprint, Nagy has now decided to offer up a first imprint compilation - one that not only showcases his work, but also that of Marcel (AKA sometime Cookin' Records artist Marcell Dudas) and Plastic City regular Forteba (AKA Hungarian stalwart Krisztian Dobrocsi). Musically, the set lives up to its' title, offering an enticing and undeniably blazed mix of DJ Calm style trip-hop, warming 1990s style downtempo grooves, slow-burn Baleric soundscapes, Onra-esque neo-boogie beats and warm, deep and languid, jazz-flecked mid-tempo house.

Review: If you've ever been to any of the Danish islands Astrid Sonne's work will make perfect sense. Raised on Bornholm, sitting in the middle of the Baltic Sea, it's a quiet setting removed from the pressures of life, a million miles from the hipsters of Copenhagen and the art crowd of Aarhus. A place where you can really take time out and reflect, appreciate the slow beauty of life and celebrate its nuances.

Outside Your Lifetime feels very much like those ideas encapsulated. It's an electronically-driven piece of work, but here those gadgets are used in such a way as they sound organic, if you can even hear them at all. Elsewhere, we're transported to the atmosphere of a cave concert, tides slowly breaking on a nearby shoreline, vocals intensified by the acoustic impact of the granite itself.
