Does The Devil Cry Tears EP
Does The Devil Cry Tears EP (180 gram vinyl 12")

Deep House
Sing Hallelujah (5:40)
The Fear Of Fear Itself (5:41)
Wigwam Embargo (6:16)
My Guitar Plays Itself (5:44)
Review: One for the slow-mo crew, or at least those that want their house music delivered in more of a lackadaisical, organic format, think four tracks packed with Wurlitzer-esque melodies, sun-kissed vocal hooks, classic tropical percussive accents and gospel lyric extravagance. At times positive, in other moments somewhat melancholic, the true heaviness in the kicks only really becomes apparent once you've turned the lot up. The latter providing the focal point for appropriately-titled 'Sing Hallelujah', a loose, stomping track capped with handclaps and underpinned by a timeless, acid-influenced synth line. As unashamed as it is uncompromising. The remaining three tracks are pack pared back and reflective moods 'The Fear of Fear Itself'), organ filled playfulness, and head-nodding sexiness ('My Guitar Plays Itself') in equal measures, making for a crossover package that wears its accessible soul very much on sleeve.

Get Up To Get Down (feat Erik Rico - Art Of Tones remix)
The Love Is Gone
The Dub Is Gone
Review: That Hudd Traxx powerhouse keeps on pumping out the jams, with regular Hudd hood Goshawk back in the saddle with some of his most assured beats to date. "Get Up To Get Down" channels a limber, Prince indebted funk, straps it to a simmering house beat and then drafts Erik Rico in for a killer vocal that takes you right back to the best of '90s vocal house. Then Art Of Tones jumps on for a remix that beefs the original up with some more big room elements, as one might well expect from the French titan. "The Love Is Gone" gets into a spaced out disco house frame of mind, which "The Dub Is Gone" then shuffles up into a slinky little groover.

I Live For The Love You Give
Review: Rhythm Plate vet Matt Hunt is back with his Goshawk alias and the snappily titled Double House & Triple Garage EP, kicking off with the warm and steady grooving deep house of "Down In Brooklyn". "Both Sides Buttered" is a cheekier affair that flirts with splashes of sassy organ chords and finger clicks to die for, but things get serious once more with the soul-drenched "88 Keys", which features an undisclosed number of melodic piano and Rhodes parts twirling in bluesy harmony. "I Live For The Love You Give" finishes the EP off with a sharp jack in its step and a heartfelt vocal lift to drill some raw emotion into your no-nonsense heads-down house session.

These Drops Are Giving Me A Breakdown EP

Deep House
My Heart (feat Astral T) (6:43)
High In The Evergreens (5:36)
Yes In This Way (6:28)
My Business Ain't Your Business (6:36)
Review: The Rhythm Plate posse are certainly no strangers to Hudd Traxx, and so it makes perfect sense to see their Goshawk project landing on the long-serving Northern deep house label. The vibes are impeccable on this 12" from start to finish, not least with the soulful sway of "My Heart" bolstered by Astral T's vocals. "High In The Evergreens" meanwhile takes a woozy approach to straight up house music with its dreamy synth tones, and "Yes In This Way" turns up the pressure with a killer bassline and feverish gospel preacher vocal hooks. "My Business Ain't Your Business" takes a more laid back, choppy approach to the groove without losing any of that all important soul.

Dirt Track (5:03)
It Feels Like Yesterday (6:27)
Make A Way (6:27)
A Song For Remy (6:27)
Review: After a rare sighting on the esteemed Kolour LTD with the much lauded 'From the Woods EP', the secretive and elusive Goshawk is now taking flight on Pressed For Time with 'The Hunt EP' - a four tracker of warm, garage swung grooves.

Taking influence from mid 90s US house, late 90s French house and the free party sound much loved by DiY, this second solo EP should go some way to establishing the signature Goshawk 'sound': Warm yet heavy. Happy yet sad. The music of a boat party drifting out to sea.

As one half of Rhythm Plate he has been involved in the house scene for over 15 years, releasing seminal EPs on Mantis, Winding Road, Hudd Traxx, DiY and Lost my Dog to name a few.

With remixes for Kiko Navarro, Joshua IZ, and Situation all in the bag, 2015 really is the year of the Goshawk.

Home (Piano Vibe) (6:42)
Home (Piano dub) (6:42)
Home (Percussion Vibe) (7:01)
Home (Percussion dub) (6:30)
Review: Rhythm Plate's Goshawk project is the best thing to come out of Matlock Bath since the opening of child-friendly theme park Gulliver's Kingdom in 1978. Here the veteran East Midlands house duo pitches up on Bristol imprint Boogie Cafe, enlists the services of Erik Rico's honeyed tonsils and serves up "Piano" and "Percussion" variants of the rather fine "Home". It's the former versions that reside on the A, with the vocal and Dub variations both making great use of an elastic, rubbery rhythm, jaunty piano riffs and occasional organs. As the title suggests, the "Percussion" versions boast tons of additional drum hits, though it's the smart, old school U.S garage vibe that's really getting our blood pumping.

Goshawk - "Mozambique" (dub Chord) (6:13)
Rhythm Plate - "String Thing" (7:47)
Shaka - "Dream Things" (5:56)
YSE - "Reflections" (6:27)
Review: The regular cast of characters to be found lurking round Pressed For Time knock heads over some no-nonsense groovesome house music for those who like a kink in their party selections. Goshawk lead the charge with the tough yet soulful "Mozambique (Dub Chord)", using some choice keys and vocal samples to create a warm mood over the top of the chunky drums. Rhythm Plate turn the funk up and smooth out proceedings with undulating pads and string stabs before Shaka strides in on the flip with an impeccable slice of boogie-infused good time house music. YSE rounds the EP off with a peppy workout sprinkled with playful leads and a tightly wound beat.

Goshawk - "Take You Home"
Tatsu - "Walk Away"
Tim Tonal - "Love What U Feel"
Leon Revol - "Tape Loop"
Review: Four tracks, four producers. One label regular, three new recruits. Four different takes on the deep house sound that we know and love here at PFT. Label regular/boss Goshawk kicks things off with the dubby slo-mo house grooves of 'Take You Home' which has a raw hypnotic disco inflected groove complete with chopped up vocals. Serious biznizz. Tatsu (aka DJ Isaac Indart from the Puro crew in Palma, Mallorca) offers up the bumping deep vibes on 'Walk Away' - think snapping snares, square wave basslines and sunkissed pads. WARM. Tim Tonal is most notably known for being part of the Alphadogs, whose incredible 'Bonelicker EP' on DIY is an all-time free party classic. He supplies another sure fire party starter with 'Love What U Feel', Nottingham soundsystem house at it's finest Finally, coming straight out of Bordeaux is Leon Revol (Apersonal) with the sublime 'Tape Loop' - a rolling, locked in groove with a fantastic arrangement which keeps the groove interesting throughout.

In The Evening (5:55)
Sun Up (Heavy Vibes) (6:00)
I Know You Told Me (7:30)
Review: Matlock-residing Matt Rivem has been doing his thing on the East Midlands deep house scene for longer than anyone can remember, most notably as part of Rhythm Plate. Here he debuts a new solo alias, Goshawk. Naturally, From The Woods is impeccably produced, and features a trio of delicious deep house gems. There's a pleasingly breezy feel about the bluesy vocal samples, jazzy beats and heavy sub of "In The Evening", while "Sun Up (Heavy Vibes)" comes blinking towards the light via shuffling, Osunlade-ish beats, soulful vocal samples and Balearic electronics. "I Know You Told Me", on the other hand, sounds like vintage US deep house - all eyes-closed diva vocal hits, bumpin' beats and bespoke chords.
