Review: Finnish electro maverick Mesak follows up crucial drops on Roots United and On Board Music with this refined slab of body-poppin' machine funk for Orson, hot on the heels of Carl Finlow's equally essential "Elastic Collisions EP". "Mihi" delivers the kind of starry-eyed style that should satisfy any Drexciya devotees, before the script gets flipped with the noisy nastiness of "Kuta". "Huru" on the B-side locks into a decidedly robotic workout with flecks of acid between the crunchy beats, and then "Okra" smooths things out with a plush, melodic trip geared towards the deeper end of the electro-fied dancefloor.

Review: Finnish producer Mesak steps up on Orson following the previous killer entry from Carl Finlow, and he's got just as much electro firepower to dish out as the celebrated Silicon Scally. "Sata EP" kicks off with the dystopian ripples of "Ayran Meydan," which zips through nervy, strafing synths and nimble acid licks. "Dim Sun" brings a funkier style to the table, while "Kruisata" plunges into the aqueous depths of Detroit flavoured electro. Extended jam "Iskut" stretches out for eight body popping minutes of stern-faced robo funk to fully cut loose to - it's the perfect finishing move on an EP packed full of advanced electro excellence.

Review: This Mesak mini album for the Laton label by Finnish Skweee experimentalist Tatu Metsatahti originally surfaced back in 2012 and we are really happy to finally get some copies in at Juno! Issued as part of the short lived, Skweee focused SKW3 series by the long running Vienna label, Holtiton shows how creative the genre can be in the right hands. Over the six tracks, Metsatahti slips and slides between moments of funk and outright abstraction and in the right selectors hands these cuts could be used alongside productions from the Sex Tags/Acido/SUED axis. If you didn't investigate first time round, make sure you do so this time.

Review: Mesak's 3rd twelve inch on Dexter's own Klakson records. One half of electro duo Mr Velcro Fastener comes back with his solo project Mesak & brings probably his best release to date. At least it is his most danceable release ever. Our favourite is the jacking "Let Get Sum Bang" which rocks every club for sure!! The other tracks are more electrofied techno-ish tracks which reminds us of some classic Carl Craig work including the outstanding "Pak Track". Like all Klakson releases this is another hot one.

Review: Berlin's newly formed Vortex Traks makes the perfect debut to kick start their catalogue, by bringing together four exciting young talents from the outsider house spectrum. First up is Harmonia's Mesak with an excellent slice of electro in the shape of "Ketale", while Tabernacle's Jeremiah R swings through a bit of fast-paced, synth-heavy deep house from outer space. On the flip, it's "Forbidden Capital" by Matti Turunen, a chilling piece of underwater electro funk, and the equally foreboding "A Reading From The Misanthropist's Guide To Romance" by Automatic Tasty.

Review: Night Defined Recordings is an Austrian electronic music label based in Salzburg that has featured previous releases by Spanish veteran Eduardo de la Calle, Romanian upstart Serb and label chief Juergen Vonbank. It now presents the second edition in the NDVAX various artist series, featuring Finnish producer Mesak (Klakson/Cleaning Tapes) with the hard minimalism of 'Palek', as well as Erfurt, Germany's Mary Yalex with the unsettling ambient house of 'Running Out Of Time' and Workshop affiliated Even Tuell with the dusty twilight dub of 'In Circles' delivered in typically understated fashion.

Review: A meeting of two great Finnish minds here: DUM Records head honcho Kimmo Rapatti aka Mono Junk teams up with Mesak aka Tatu Metsatahti. If he sounds vaguely familiar you're not wrong, you probably know him as one half of electro pranksters Mr Velcro Fastener. Rapatti takes Mesak's lead and delves deep into depth charged Drexciyan style electro here.. and it's fierce! The original mix of "Deep In My Mind" is kick ass 4/4 electro funk that sounds like a modern interpretation of the classic Model 500 sound but it's the aptly titled "Deep In My Electro Mind" which really tells it how it is with sharp and snappy breaks and whirly arpeggios from vintage machines. Finally "SYSdrum" throws down some serious boom and bounce on this fine show of street level ghetto technics.

Review: The latest one on Orson sees Daniel Savio teaming up with Mesak for some lean and mean electro gear. Stockholm's Savio has gifted us reams of flexible, idiosyncratic machine jams over the years, while Finland's Mesak has been on a rampant run of late across labels like Klakson. On this four tracker we get to run the gamut from pumped up peak time pulser 'Tungt Vatten' to downtempo braindancer 'Surt Regn', all powered by a smorgasbord of blipping analogue-isms and keen studio instincts. If you're serious about your machine music, you're absolutely going to dig this one.
