Notes: Different condenser microphones specify different amounts of required phantom power. As a rule these ratings can range from 48V all the way down to 9V. Fortunately, there is some flexibility in terms of matching phantom voltage to your mic. A rough rule of thumb would be more is better.

For example, a 24V condenser mic will run perfectly on 48V. In fact, mics rated at as little as 9V can often operate on 48V, but you should check with the manufacturer first. Conversely, a mic will generally perform best driven by not less than its rated voltage so, for a 48V mic, you would obtain best results with 48V of phantom power. The Phantom is a great choice for the above needs.

Hot Tip is a power supply tester - it lights up when you connect a working power supply to it.

Uh-oh. Something's not coming on - but is the plug or the device that's dodgy? It's easy to test a plug with the Hot Tip. Just plug the power supply into the wall, then connect it to the Hot Tip - the LED illuminates if there's power, so you'll know if your plug is good or bad.

The female end of Hot Tip accepts a standard 5.5mm outer diameter / 2.1mm inner diameter barrel tip - it's the commonest size, usedon 98% of effects pedals, synths etc.

If you want to test a power adaptor with a different size output, just add the sizes you want to your cart, and we'll send you the parts to fit.

Power Passthrough

Hot Tip doesn't get in the way of the power - you can power a device through it.

You can power a device without removing the Hot Tip from the PSU tip end - the LED draws almost no power, so you can go ahead and plug the tip end of Hot Tip into your device. That's handy for dark environments, like on a stage - or anytime you want to know and be sure there's power available. (The only works for gear that Hot Tip fits into, 5.5mm outer diameter and 2.1mm inner diameter).

Polarity Indicator LED

Hot Tip illuminates BLUE for centre positive polarity, and RED for centre negative polarity.

Power supplies got mixed up, now you're not sure what polarity which PSU is? Hot Tip contains a bi-colour LED, and lights up BLUE when the connected PSU is polarity centre positive (BLUE C +) and RED when the connected PSU is polarity centre negative (RED C -). It's written on the Hot Tip too, so you don't need to remember it.

Many popular guitar pedals were originally designed to work with batteries. Since batteries are inherently very low noise and not susceptible to ground loops, these pedals often were not designed to be resistant to noise from power supplies. Strymon's ultra-low-noise design prevents power noise from bleeding into the audio signal, allowing your pedals to deliver the highest possible dynamic range.

Do you have a pedal that requires 12V or 18V? Zuma R300 has you covered. One channel has selectable 9, 12, or 18V output voltages. Some analog pedals designed for 9V operation may provide higher output and/or more clean headroom when run at higher voltages such as 12V or 18V. However, others will simply start smoking and melting, so please check with the manufacturer of your pedal before operating at a higher-than-standard voltage!

Zuma R300's all analogue circuitry offers two stages of isolation. Each of the five output channels is individually isolated from the 24V DC, and the 24V DC is isolated from the AC input power, eliminating ground loop and AC line noise issues. Zuma R300 also provides dual power regulation: Wide-bandwidth optically isolated feedback loops on each channel, as well as on the input, allow both the input and outputs to adjust for changes, ensuring solid output under changing load conditions.

Zuma R300 has automatic worldwide power compatibility built-in (when connected with the appropriate IEC cable). Whether you're on 120V, 240V, 100V, or any variation in between, Zuma R300 will deliver clean, reliable power to your pedals, even if the venue has dirty power.
