3 Agent - "Fall" (6:05)
Eddie C - "Winter" (5:56)
TCB - "Spring" (5:42)
Claudio PRC - "Summer" (6:55)
Review: New label D59B Recordings takes you on a journey through the deeper shades of electronics on their inaugural release. It's quite a mixed bag yet it still remains consistent throughout, whether it's the deep chug of Canadian Eddie C's meditative 'Winter', TCB's descent into the cosmic hole on 'Spring' or Sardinian hypnotic techno expert Claudio PRC's icy dub techno soundscape (ironically) titled 'Summer' - you will definitely experience four seasons in a day on Fall Winter Spring Summer Vol 1.

DJ Nomad - "African Boy" (3:55)
Jona J - "A Change Will Come" (6:25)
Review: Many Hands is a fresh label helmed by Jona Jefferies and Kava that here kicks out an eclectic EP with four tracks from various members of its musical family. Dan Aikido opens with '0800 TXT4 Herb,' a smooth fusion piece that builds a laid-back groove, blending fretless bass, jazzy keys and soulful vocals all reminiscent of Rare Silk's 'Storm.' Ernie Ruso's 'Stroke It' offers slow, sensual r&b infused with P-funky wah-wah effects while DJ Nomad's 'African Boy' brings upbeat pop house next to funky organ and a female reggae MC.Jefferies' closer 'A Change Will Come' samples Dr. Martin Luther King Jr with a rave-inspired beat and soulful piano. Cracking stuff.

Bits & Pieces - "Don't Stop The Music"
The Staple Singers - "Slippery People"
Eric's Friends - "Discocaine"
Brian Briggs - "AEO" (parts 1 & 2)
Review: Having released quality disco music since 2006, the Balerica imprint continues to dig deep to give its listeners more unearthed jams on Balearica 8. Bits & Pieces' "Don't Stop The music" opens with fat, synthesisers acting as the basis for this funk-laden freakout. "Slippery People" by The Staple Singers moves you with sharp pads, a shoulder-twitching beat and soulful vocal licks. Eric's Friends' "Discocaine" gives us a more traditional disco flavour, borrowing the lead line from Muddy Water's "Smoke on The Water" and laying it on top of a moving beat. Brian Briggs' "AEO" (parts 1 & 2) closes the record with an ocean-dipped jam, soaked in oriental flavour and served in an African wonderland. Highly recommended.

El Samurai (3:58)

Oropendola (3:29)
Sumay (4:05)
Tail Ends (3:21)
Review: Tenalach, the latest EP from Chancha Via Circuito and El Buho, engages listeners in an enigmatic and atmospheric soundscape, blending organic and electronic elements. Following their earlier collaborations, this release takes them deeper into uncharted sonic territory, creating a vivid, almost otherworldly experience. With its mysterious tones, Tenalach feels like a soundtrack to an alternate realityiimagine a journey through Latin American jungles and mountains, as if guided by the spirits of nature. The opener 'El Samurai' stays closest to the duo's signature folktronic sound, blending cowbells, violin-like synths, and animalistic rhythms. 'Sapo Cururu' introduces an intriguing mix of croaking frogs and driving snares, pushing genre boundaries with its primal energy. 'Oropendola' lifts with its strobing synths and the delicate flutter of birds, creating a dreamlike, airy atmosphere. Meanwhile, 'Sumay' delivers a powerful blend of epic synth lines and Chancha's hallmark percussion, evoking both majesty and melancholy. While the EP pulses with life, it's neither downtempo nor uptempoiexisting in a space that defies easy categorisation. Reflecting a more introspective and darker edge, Tenalach captures a subtle tension, hinting at the duo's contemplation of a rapidly changing world and the blurred lines between human and nature. A truly unique listen.

Review: Colkin from Raw Soul and Mauke Club sets the tone on this new FUTUR compilation, which has been curated by Benedikt Meger with a spherical acid house meditation. Peter Seiler's track, a standout from the reissue of his debut album Flying Frames, features Sheryl Hackett's soulful vocals and merges song structure with jazz improvisation. Eoism from Pulse Drift, Undersound, and Inch By Inch delivers low-swung electro flavours perfect for sunset vibes while the B-side opens with Voertuig of Tonal Oceans and Cobra Club who presents a seriously raw acid jam followed by an experimental, jazzy piece, reminiscent of the 90s downtempo era. 'Eoism' closes things with a floating, futuristic banger, going to make a well rounded (in more ways than one) and ultimately very useful piece of vinyl.

Dane & Khotin - "IMHO" (5:52)
Dane & Khotin - "System" (5:23)
Dane - "I Want More" (7:34)
Eddie C - "One For Dane" (4:13)
Review: Canada's foremost re-edit imprint continues to churn out the hits, largely by delivering dub disco and Balearic-tinged interpretations of long forgotten or little-known cuts. Common Edit regulars Dane and Khotin join forces on the A-side, delivering a sweet chunk of boogie-era synthesizer reggae ("Imho"), before heading futher towards peaktime territory with the low-slung, late night AOR disco of "System". Eddie C digs delves into his seemingly bottomless crates of obscurities for inspiration on "I Want More", a gorgeous chunk of piano-laden Balearic disco sweetness. Finally, Dane lights up something medicinal, closes his eyes and delivers the smacked-out, guitar-laden ambient chug of "One For Dane". It's an absolute beauty, if truth be told.

Sector 100 (4:35)
Review: Two years on from his last outing under the DJ Snils alias, Oleg Buyanov AKA Ol buddies up with pal Every Korner (real name Roman Erikona) to help launch the Save the Books label. The Moscow-based pair apparently recorded the four tracks at various points over the last few years. There's an undeniably Balearic feel to proceedings throughout, from the dreamy pads, twittering loon bird samples and new age ambient melodies of 'Intro', to the jazz-flecked Italian dream house drowsiness of luscious and life-affirming closing cut 'Sector 100'. In between you'll find the bustling 'Take Money', where sampled piano motifs and huggable chords ride a chunky, bass-heavy groove, and the sunny broken beat/jazz-funk/deep house fusion of 'Black Box Riddle'.

I Don't Know What This Is
Review: Within the space of two perfectly executed 12" singles, Mark E's sneaky E Versions series - in which he returns to the world of loopy, house-friendly disco and Balearic re-edits with which he first made his name - has become a "must check". This third installment is every bit as essential as its' predecessors, offering to two deliciously glassy-eyed re-interpretations of unknown gems. Opener "The Shoe" delivers an undulating, loose-but-hypnotic chunk of head-nodding, hip-shaking disco, with rising and falling strings and horn stabs riding a tasty, bass-heavy groove. "I Don't Know What This Is" flips the script, offering up a dreamy, sensual and enorphin-heavy slice of floor-friendly Balearic bliss. Recommended.

Sitting Here Alone
Child Star
Review: It's interesting that Mark E's acclaimed E Versions series - in which he returns to his roots by delivering long, loopy, tactile, house-friendly re-edits of Balearic and disco gems - seems to have given the Birmingham born producer a new lease of life. Certainly, the first three volumes contained some of his best material for years. This fourth installment is equally as essential. A-side "Sitting Here Alone" is a perfect example of Evetts' deliciously E'd-up, stretched-out style, turning a sweet and baggy deep disco cut into a wonderfully immersive deep house/disco hybrid. Flip to the B for "Childstar", a pulsating disco bumper that sounds like an anthem in waiting.

Review: Earthboogie - aka London soundsystem owners Izaak Gray and Nicola Robinson - make their wax debut with three raw, groove laden disco blends. Digging deep into both afrofunk and Italo roots, there's a universal musical language that grabs you physically across all three cuts. "Mr Mystery" sits between Booker T & The Mgs and Daniele Baldelli while "Route Ten To Interzone" is an energetic township jam with added synth sheen. Finally we're seduced by the Balearic weaves, ripples, twangs and horns of "The EB Theme". A rainbow of vibes from start to finish, this one's hard to put down.

Review: Newly signed to Ninja Tune, Ebbb debuts with a five-track EP that shows great intent. Emerging from the same London avant-garde live scene that birthed black midi and Black Country New Road, the band has quickly developed a unique sound in just a year. Their music blends pulsing rhythms, immersive electronic production, sparkling melodies, layered vocal harmonies, and beats that range from ambient to industrial. Described by the band themself as "Brian Wilson meets Death Grips," the EP is experimental and unpredictable yet deeply considered and precise with an idiosyncratic hybrid of sounds that showcases Ebbb's innovative and tightly crafted music.

Review: Peckham rising: the Eccentric crew celebrate five years of parties with five more slabs of obscure, deck-ready cosmic gold. Both "Cosa Rosa" and "Wake Up" ease us in gently with shimmering synths and well-tempered slo-mo grooves but "Nar Nar Nehe" ups the energy with a rolling synth boogie groove that's peppered with layers or synth-tom percussion and dubby echoes. Those in need of a swamp wallow should head for the soaking wet bass of "Och Eye" before we're whisked away in an easterly direction on a vibe made purely of faraway twangs, dubby percussion and yearning atmospheres. Genuinely stunning.

The Touch
Review: One hand-stamped 7" from Edward of C's Red Motorbike label, two totally different stories... "Farmer God" is a yarn of unfettered Balearic proportions. Languishing somewhere in the Wild West, 150 years ago, it's a lolloping composition where each nylon string weep is echoed by an equally mournful organ flurry. The chips-are-down soundtrack to any great western, it's Eddie at his most sedate and contemplative. "The Touch" brings us back to the present day by way of a sexy mid-tempo strut. All disco bubbles and overlayed pianos, this should really be a 10" just to accommodate the feel good vibes.

Review: KZA's ever dependable Let's Get Lost label welcomes Endless Flight regular and recent Berlin transplant Eddie C into the fold for a full release after the boy from Banff recently shared a side with the label boss on LGL No 15. Any worries that a move to Europe's techno mecca might have engendered a musical swerve to a Berghain friendly sound will be allayed when you hear what's on offer with these two tracks, plucked from the enviable collection of Mr C and tweaked for your dancing pleasure. Both untitled, the A Side is an oddly endearing Balearic number with off kilter handclaps and a big grooving bass line, but the disco lovers will head straight for the flip. A superbly masked edit of a Patrick Adams classic, the way Eddie C slowly reveals that classic string refrain is pure joy!

Lonely Without You (3:59)
Review: In 2016 Canadian producer and DJ Eddie C released his third Endless Flight album entitled On The Shore: a compelling musical trip of drifting repetition in rhythm and melody. It was inspired by his studio that sits upon the Panke River in Berlin's Wedding district. Now he drops a new EP, consisting of three tracks plus "Auf Der Ufer" - a tune he did with his Norwegian buddy Rune Lindbaek. This slo-mo beauty is smothered with rich vintage synth flair and dusty drums: a sonic odyssey made for drifting. Our favourite though, was the lush synth-pop beauty of "Pumapunku" or B side cut "Inner Piece" which was a right curveball. This bleepy rave techno jam will take you all the way back to the early '90s. Another heartfelt arranged mix of instruments, synths, samples and drum machines by Eddie C.

"Space Glide" chugs away marvellously at around 92BPM with a bassline so wet and slimy it should come with its own 18 certificate. "Werewolf Invasion" maintains the hypnotic slo-mo momentum but added late night graveyard feels thanks to a grainy cosmicity and strange unworldly textures. Don't sleep.

This time out the Canadian deep disco specialist kicks off his latest 7" with 'D8 With The Rain.' As always it is a super smooth groove that is smartly embellished with dusty old samples that tug at the heart. The A comes through with lyrically-confounding sampledelic soul flair, while the instrumental B 'Smokey Bay' grows more Balearic as it embers away. Review: Japanese label Endless Flight embarks on the first of several Eddie C remix 12"s. First up is Marvin & Guy's remix to "La Palette" - the title track from Eddie C's most recent Endless Flight EP. What was originally a funky and Havana-styled house tune gets transformed into an electro-tinged cut of new school boogie with italo synths and lo-fi drums. Bearded Australian producer Tornado Wallace continues his re-emergence from production slumber with a remix of "Every Life Under The Invisible Hands", taken from Eddie C's Country City Country album. This time a funkier production is dipped into a deep pool of cosmic Balearica, with Wallace sending Eddie C's original elements through a galaxy of pumping bass, starlight synths and space western themed guitars.

Review: Eddie C, the maestro of the Red Motorbike label, delivers a euphoric ode to the pursuit of love and desire. It features a quartet of interpretations, including remixes from Lex, Da Silva and Italo Deviance, each adding their own distinct take on the original, with Eddie C's 'Cash Version' proving to be a dancefloor-ready gem, its lyrical bassline, euphoric stabs and pining vocals creating a silken rhythm. Lex's Plaka Remix injects an exotic, eclectic spirit, with shuffling percussion and breezy strings adding a touch of Balearic charm. Da Silva's remix ups the ante with a club-focused intensity, its tight kicks and searing acid lines perfect for peak-time moments. Italo Deviance's Acid Control version takes things into a more psychedelic realm, its kaleidoscopic soundscapes and driving rhythms conjuring a nocturnal energy.

Right from the off, 'Kunama' strikes a perfect balance between horizontal grooves and gently persuasive Mediterranean rhythms. Jibaro (short version) (3:27)
Review: Elkin & Nelson's 1979 track 'Jibaro' harks back to the true essence of Balearic music, before the style became a self-aware genre of its own and instead referred to a certain attitude. When the DJs of Ibiza were feeding off their island's unique party energy and going deep to find the heaviest grooves to send people skywards, the 1986 promo reissue of 'Jibaro' became a highly-prized nugget of psych-rock-freak-beat brilliance. Now this gem is being reissued in a faithful reproduction which nods to the cult status of the 1986 promo release, pressed up on red vinyl and sounding as powerful and transportive as it did back then.

Jibaro (version) (5:43)
Jibaro (dub) (4:35)
Review: Daniele Baldelli's name still holds enough currency in disco circles to get real heads excited whoever they see it. The legendary DJ and forefather of the cosmic scene still knows how to lay down the jams as he proves with his new remix alongside Dionigi for Mushroom Pillow. It finds them flipping Elkin & Nelson's 'Jibaro' two ways. The first is a guitar-laced, jangling and loose groove with slow-motion drum chug and plenty of effects. The second is a dub version that is more spaced out and late-night. Both are superb.

Review: Emma Kirby's ascendance was assured with the release of her Euphoric Melodies EP last year. Released on Technicolour, it followed up on the promise of the Every Body Is Welcome EP for Femme Culture which preceded it. Now she's following up with her third release as Elkka, Harmonic Frequencies. The EP was preceded by the title track last September, which points to a continuation of her refined sound. Fluttering melodies and rave-ready dynamics bounce off each other with abandon, exuding positivity every step of the way. There's an expansive spirit to the EP as Kirby continues developing her sound, not to mention a truckload of good vibes to see us into the Spring in style.

Review: Ella Guru is a project from the south of Stockholm that features guitarist Tommy Galento (from associations such as OK Star Orchestra and Galento Sound Service) and well known groove machine Daniel Strand from Bike Thieves. Together they bring a lovely Scandi-cosmic twist to deep house grooves having first met back in 2021 at a jam amongst friends. They mix up some Balearic guitar sounds, break waves, fat basslines and rich layers of percussion with classic hose knowledge to make something that straddles many different worlds at once, from the beach bar to the basement club and back again.

Dream Wave (2:50)
Review: Multi-instrumentalist synth-fancier Brian Ellis has already proved to be more than adept at crafting high quality revivalist electrofunk, with the Omega Supreme released "Midnight Again" being a particularly potent example. Here he pops up on Austin Boogie Crew with "Peg", an all synthesizer-and-talk box cover of the much-admired Steely Dan classic. While a curious idea, it works remarkably well, with the famous melody lines and guitar riffs translating perfectly to shimmering synthesizer parts. Original B-side "Dream Wave" is great, too, with a delightfully glassy-eyed, almost Balearic feel to the tuneful synths and skittering drum machine grooves. Only a limited number have been pressed, so don't sleep on this one.

Wanna Pop With You (Hardway Bros remix) (8:51)
Wanna Pop With You (Hardway Bros dub) (8:52)
La Cassette (Tigerbalm remix) (5:58)
Review: Andy Meecham has released a lot of fine music as The Emperor Machine, but little as perfect as his recent album, Island Boogie. Here a trio of cuts from that set are given the remix treatment. Hardway Brothers (AKA A Love From Outer Space co-founder Sean Johnston) will grab the headlines for his takes on 'Wanna Pop With You', and rightly so. His 'remix' (A2) cannily combines elements of Meecham's original - synth, bass, bits of Severtine Mouletin's vocal - with oodles of hallucinatory sounds, psychedelic guitars and a tough mid-tempo beat, while the 'Dub' strips things back further whilst upping the trippy vibe. Elsewhere, Tigerbalm delivers a rework of 'La Cassette' that sits somewhere between dub disco and proto-house, and Meecham provides a skeletal, dub-wise 'Version' of his fine La Fox cover, 'S-S-S-Single Bed'.

Your Own Style (alternate mix) (8:21)

Your Own Style (Fun dub) (8:26)
Review: Andrew 'Emperor Machine' Meecham and French vocalist Severine Moultin enjoyed working on their first collaborative single, 2021's 'Dance Par Amour', so last year reunited in the studio to record a follow-up. 'Your Own Style' follows a similar sonic template, with Mouletin singing in accented English atop a typically analogue-heavy Meecham backing track laden with bubbly bass, delay-laden electric piano motifs, layered percussion and the producer's trademark synth squiggles (a feature of his work since the days he was working with Dean Meredith as Chicken Lips). The song is presented in three variations: the stretched-out and pleasingly loose 'Alternative Mix'; the sparse, effects-laden and mid-80s influenced 'Dub Vocal'; and the warmer, subtly funkier 'Fun Dub'.
