Review: Back to 2022! Seba reissues his third album Ingaro on this beautifully presented and precision-pressed yellow vinyl box set. With four 12"s, all 10 cuts get generous wax space and sound amazing as a result. Especially highlights such as the Spirit-like super charge of 'Sequence 5', the cosmic jungle thrust of 'Outer Worlds', the powerful and provocative 'Thoughts Run Free' with Rupture legend and killer MC Blackeye. And that's just for starters; the Bjorn Berglund-collaborated and Samuel Lancine-fronted downtempo cut 'Diamonds' is a sense-arresting moment and the dreamy finale 'Progression'. Seba, we salute you.

Boylan, DOK & Youngsta - "Just Breathing" (5:06)
Review: Get ready for some proper breakbeat tackle as Oil Gang reprobate Boylan recruits the troops for a heavyweight apocalyptic 140 BPM showdown. With the likes of Slimzee, Trends, D.O.K, U.S.F and Youngsta all on side, the mood is tense and the textures are rough. Imagine that sci-fi sternness of Virus, that old school rolling breakbeat bass of Koma & Bones or Evil 9 complete with the more modern neck snap abrasion of acts like Former or Coido and you're in the right rave. Mean, gritty and unapologetic.

Review: Australian cultivator of bass ShockOne unveils his third studio album Organism Algorithm. A defining moment for the longtime producer, this third studio project follows his formidable rise to fame from humble beginnings in his native local Perth scene and hears him again continue to flesh out his signature taste for ethereal vocal numbers and heated, but no less crystalline bangers. From the knife-edge vocals of 'A Dark Machine' featuring Reija Lee, to the oozing stereo growls of 'Til Dawn', this is an album no basshead will want to miss.

Review: Skee Mask, who only recently was found out to be called Bryan Muller, comes through with his second LP to date, making a wonderful follow-up to 2016's Shred. Compro is, ironically, comprised of a much more explorative palette of sounds, with many corners of the album veering off into otherworldly ambient, often through a striking new-age sensibility. The most impressive element of this album is its flow and evolution across its 12 tracks, sounding a lot more like one single-minded thought rather than a collection of disparate dance-not-dance tunes. The quality of the recording is noticeable, too, with tracks like "Rev8617" or "Via Sub Mids" sounding professional, both in vision and style. Through an intricate collage of breaks, samples, polyphonies, and subtle electronic manipulations, Skee Mask has truly mastered his own art, and is giving a new direction to the wider 'UK rave' sound. BIG.

Review: Time to stare right in the eye of Jupiter again as the legendary and un-accidental hero Sonic rolls out his fourth solo studio album Embers on wax. Previously dropping LPs on the likes of Western Lore and Sneaker Social Club, this one comes courtesy of check-on-sight fringe fusionists Yuku and it draws heavily on his roots in the jungle / hardcore primordial soup in the most exciting creative ways. Big synth blasts and steamroller drums ('The Holy Breaks'), ominous tension and rising drama ('Fatal Crash Test') and the all-essential de-climatising end-of-journey meltdown ('The Shadow & The Light') A stunning Sonic trip in all the right ways.

Review: This special anniversary edition of Squarepusher's debut album Feed Me Weird Things is released almost exactly 25 years to the day after the original. Back then it came on Aphex Twin's now defunct Rephlex label and has not been available on streaming platforms ever since. All remastered from the original DATs and with a new, original booklet filled with note and ephemera it is an essential cop for fans old and new. The record broken out of the tight genre restrictions of the time to pair complex rhythms with disarming melodies.

Review: Squarepusher's Ultravisitor, now celebrating its 20th anniversary with a triple vinyl reissue, is a dense, sprawling work that showcases Tom Jenkinson's mastery of electronic experimentation. Released in 2004, this nearly 80-minute album fuses drum-n-bass, jazz, and live instrumentation, while exploring everything from melodic electro-pop to chaotic improvisation. It offers a comprehensive glimpse into Squarepusher's world, touching on every facet of his sound, making it feel like the culmination of his career up to that point. Tracks like the title piece and 'Iambic 9 Poetry' demonstrate his ability to blend complex rhythms with melodic layers, while '50 Cycles' veers into noise-laden abstraction, hinting at genre reinvention. Jenkinson's virtuosic bass work shines on songs like 'I Fulcrum', and even his guitar compositions, such as 'Andrei', show his versatility. Despite its many strengths, Ultravisitor can feel bloated, with some improvisations overstaying their welcome. Yet, its sheer ambition and range are undeniable, offering an album both challenging and captivating, and the highlights reaffirm why Squarepusher remains a key figure in electronic music.

Review: Not too many artists can create a buzz quite like when word spreads of a new album more than Squarepusher. Dostrotime is the first album for Tom Jenkinson in nearly four years, one of his longest breaks between albums. Proceeding the album release, the video for the hardcore acid banger Wendorlan has been making the rounds on the internet. If this is any indication of the rest of the album, then expect some serious heat. Audio samples have been tightly secured to protect leaks online until the release date. This album will be spread over a 2x12 and nicely packaged in gatefold form and no doubt contain some great gallops through the genre spectrum like only Squarepusher can do.

Every Day I Love
Review: Words and terms such as benchmark, revolutionary and paradigm shift are thrown around far too casually and liberally when writing about music. But if there's one electronic album that really does live up to those tags it's Ultravisitor. Still sounding like it's from another planet to this day, from the moment eponymous opener headbutts us with an ice breakbeat shatter to those very last guitar plucks on 'Everyday I Love', this is concentrated Squarepusher in every possible geometrical permutation. So many breakcore and IDM parameters were set on this exceptional body of work. From the metal militancy of 'Steinbolt' to the fantastical drive (and wild slap bass) of 'Tetra-Sync', this remains a wholly unique LP that's both wonderful challenging and definitely not of this earth.

Review: Sub Focus has as far back as we can remember always been a 'big name' in drum & bass, but it's only now that the London-based music producer cements it as such with a slice of contextualising nostalgia. Evolve is his new LP, charting a new feel for 1990s influences and various musical homages to the acts and songs that contributed to his sense of musical evolution and maturity as a musician. Nods to the Chemical Brothers and early jungle and hardcore are conveyed through contemporary collabs with the likes of CamelPhat, Gene Farris and LOWES.
