Review: At the start of their run in the heady days of the Britpop era, Suede made a tidal wave with this brilliantly sleazy single. Bernard Butler's riffs bite harder than most of the music of that era, and Brett Anderson's falsetto feels delightfully debauched as they soundtrack the romantic nihilism of the early 90s. This special picture disc release commemorates 31 years since the song first thrilled swathes of kids up and down the UK and it comes with the brilliant B-side 'To The Birds' which shows off the depth and range the band had to their songwriting even at this early stage.

Review: Suede's 'The Wild Ones', released as a single in November 1994, is widely regarded as a defining moment in the band's career. Featured on Dog Man Star, the track shows Brett Anderson and Bernard Butler at their creative peak, with Anderson often calling it his favorite Suede song. Review: Hyped at the time as 'the Suede record Brett Anderson raps on' - in fact, it's more of a spoken word monologue - 'Stay Together' followed the Britpop instigators' hugely successful Dog Man Star debut album and pointed the way forward for future experimentation away from their core Bowie/glam flash rock. It remains their highest charting single having peaked at number three in the UK charts (an honour it shares with 'Trash') and here, part of Demon's Suede singles reissue campaign, comes backed another non album track 'The Living Dead'.

A titular reference to the muscle relaxant and inhalant drug amyl nitrite - that's poppers to you and me - the song is a blitzing homage to the substances on offer at their time, amid a climate of youth cynicism felt by the band at the time.

Review: As part of a comprehensive reissue of Suede's early singles and albums - the songs which earned them the early 90s limelight - comes this reissued 7" picture-disc version of 'So Young' and 'High Rising'. Both featuring on the self-titled debut from 1993, these were but two of the tracks that contributed to Suede's rise to stardom, and which help to cement their impressive selling of 100,000 copies in their first week. One of the undisputed artistic peaks of the Britpop movement, it was famously recorded after internal struggles led to the departure of one of the band's driving forces, guitarist Bernard Butler. Yet listening to the album, you'd never know. Brett Anderson's vocal performances are impeccable, while the music - swooping, impactful and infectious - is amongst the best the band ever recorded. This anniversary edition expands the album via a second disc of B-sides from the period, while the deluxe, hardback book style packaging also includes a rather nice booklet full of band photos and full lyrics.

Review: Far from being a band trapped in a nostalgic cul-de-sac redolent of their '90s origins, the return of Suede to the fray that began with 2010's reformation and continued with 2013's 'Bloodsports' has proven the band to be possessed of a chemistry and emotional heft that renders them as powerful now as ever they were. 'Night Thoughts' may be a less melodramatic and slightly more mature band dealing with the pressures of parenthood and the vagaries of modern life more than the youthful melodrama of yore, yet it's rich with melody, poise and melancholy enough to underline Suede's status as a veritable national treasure.

In terms of landmark releases, you'd be hard pushed to find anyone that doesn't rank Suede's third as a seminal moment in their career. And that's not to say the departure of guitarist Bernard Butler somehow set them free, more to point out this record saw the band reach the heights of critical and commercial success, while also confirming they had definitely found their sound.

It's an album with smash hit singles and iconic tunes like 'Beautiful Ones', 'Filmstar', and 'Trash', all of which are still etched into the memory of anyone who was listening to any radio station back in 1996.
