Review: Frankfurt techno joker Phil Evans is back on his esteemed Pager imprint (which he co-runs with Markus Sommer) for his first full length titled S Mile. Evan's has gone back to his love of house music on this playful and light hearted collection of tracks: from the chilled Sunday afternoon deepness of opening cut "1 Long Sip", the bumpin' minimal funk of 'Dat Ting' or the quirky French Touch influence of "Keep It Real" you'd think that's all that Evans has in his repertoire, but you'd be surprised. 'Tek Cheez' is an oddball groove that treads the same territory as local legend Losoul, and 'N8 Ride' goes Stateside in the vein of mid '90s Detroit. Impressive.
